Agree. And add Cozens to your list of players not there yet - he is on a pace for 16 goals and 32 points. That is not a productive 2C. Will he get closer to his 31G and 68 point production of 2 years ago? He is looking like a 3rd line player the past two seasons. Benson gives you two way hockey and some intensity, it remains to be seen if he can consistently score in the NHL.

Blue & Gold Standard #3: Lindy, Dom & Ryan in Prague having a beer.

Well the fruit of the original tank is all gone with Eichel and Reinhart now NHL Stars on other teams. Lets just hope the players we still have can get us their someday. Hopefully TP is learning you need NHL quality coaching, goaltending, and you need a mature and balanced team around your young stars to make any real progress in this league. -
We brine it and then oven roast. The crowd goes wild. But yes, you have to rinse it thoroughly. Old fashion style but roasted by a lady that really knows what to do. No complaints in this house.

I bolded your caveat. Bear in mind that the direction set by the GM was unorthodox and it was a complete flow down from the owner and his Economic, Efficient, and Effective plan. Hockey operations and Front Office were cut and retooled. Scouting cut and retooled. The best players and biggest contracts were moved out. RFAs and FAs were allowed to leave upon request. They were fielding a team that barely reached the Salary Cap floor and are still yet to spend to the cap with a first time NHL head coach. There was no way TP was paying money for an established NHL coach and GM after the Krueger debacle, the Eichel injury, and Covid threatening the viability of PSE. So yes, Granato arose from the ashes of Ralph Krueger, and he did some good work in a difficult situation. The 91 point season was surprising and impressive work all things considered. He got to see Dahlin, Thompson, and several others start to play to their true potential. However, that season and especially the past one highlight the collective failures by Granato, Adams and Pegula. Hockey rebuilds happen all the time with the same coach/GM in place. While Granato did not achieve playoffs, his difficult circumstances are duly noted. But he may have been one of the few coaches that could, or even would, work in Buffalo under all of those limitations and restrictions driven by KA/TP. His contributions in this period are notable. Still, I doubt that many NHL teams will seek him out as a rebuild type of coach. -

It worked at shutting the Wild down. One goal on a 4 on 1. The Sabres had enough chances to score. That said, I didn’t see any reason to stick with tonight’s lines. McLeod should play more minutes than Krebs. Cozens logged almost 20 mins chasing Kaprizov around. -

39 shots and we just couldn’t get one by him. Lots of opportunities. I thought we played a good game against a team that is further along. A game like this makes the losses to bad hockey teams hurt more. I hate wasting the great game that UPL had. Nothing they can do but get back to work. -

So far Krebs has 1:25 more TOI than McLeod. Cozens and Benson getting a lot of time vs Wild top line. -

To the bold I would say I don't think so. Granato is good coach for an all star team tossed together for a tournament. That's about it. I doubt he gets another NHL HC gig. -

We have seen successful roads trips fade into oblivion when followed by uninspired play on home ice. Lindy needs to continue to exercise these demons and make this team come out fired up and ready to win in front of the home town crowd. Wild are good so they boys better being their A game. Hope to see Tage back in the lineup. Keep Kulich in the lineup for middle 6 and PP2. UPL in the net. -
Weather on TV is nutso. The national media makes all weather events cataclysmic. In another News Flash - airports are crowded for Thanksgiving and Christmas travel. This is headline news every year on mainstream media. Long lines and delays at airports - imagine that? Meanwhile they sell stories that airlines are not making any money, and we get to see people wearing their pajamas while on airplanes, and fighting with other people because "they know their rights".

They need 2C (assume Cozens goes to wing or) or a top 6 winger (Assume Cozens stays at C). They also need 4D (assume Muel is moved to 3rd pair or gone). Trading Joki is just a piece of whatever multi-player deal brings in one of those players.

Defensemen Trio Elevating Sabres Into Contention
Pimlach replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
No. Quinn straight up for Jiricek is were I would start, but even that would take some convincing. We really need a smart, strong, and steady defense first top 4 guy. Jiricek is not that kind of defenseman right now, and if he can be someday, I don't want to wait 3 to 4 years for him to figure it out. Peterka is a much better player right now than Jiricek is. No way would I consider trading him for this guy. Kulich is just now emerging and we need help at center, so no to this trade. -
No surprised here. You could see this from a mile away.
