  1. Agree. But some common thoughts are: 1 - Kyle is in his last year. 2- Z has one more year maybe. 3 - Adam’s does not like blocking his prospects. Add that up and we could potentially be breaking in another rookie next year, maybe two. If Quinn and JJP have a mixed sophomore season (commonly happens) and we add Savoie or Kulich or both, that means we will still be very young and will be sheltering players. It is inevitable that Adams will have to make some trades to bring in veterans players that round out the team.
  2. So you wanted the Sabres to do what Detroit did?

I saw this last week on main stream news media, I think CBS. The questions asked “why are we seeing so many of these unmanned vehicles now!” The answer from the “expert” was that the US has “tweaked “ its surveillance radars to better detect them since the Chinese balloon situation. If true that is a terrible answer for a lot of reasons.
  4. So true. So young. The talk of losing Kyle or Z or both, and replacing with Savoie or Kulich means next year will be a lot like this year.
  5. I missed the game, was traveling all night. I actually saw the last minute and the Kings were still getting odd man rushes. They either figure it out right now, or this is the beginning of the end of the playoff dreams. Need to find a hot goalie and ride him.
  6. I saw the many angles that the ref did not see on the field in real time. I saw the jersey grab, I heard the coach talk, and the player dutifully take the blame. But the rule states you can make contact at the line of scrimmage and for up to 5 yards. This disrupts timing patterns with or without holding. The “grab” looked inconsequential, the pass was way overthrown because Mahommes had to get rid of it. By the letter of the rule it could be called holding. You can say the call was correct. Then they should call it on every play, not only on the most important play of the drive. In the context of the game, and what they were were calling and not calling all game, it was a bad call. Like a baseball umpire changing the strike zone in the bottom of the ninth. You act like this was an obvious and easy call. It wasn’t. I can produce tons of footage of uncalled defensive holding with officials looking right at it. Think Buffalo versus Tampa last year. No point in it. KC won for lots of other reasons. I think KC was better overall but I hated that call at that time. It may not have decided the game but it ruined it.
  7. That Holding call would have been a marginal call in the regular season. The contact was at the line of scrimmage not downfield. The ball was overthrown and not catchable. Mahommes threw it away and KC was kicking the next play, leaving Philly some time. But it was not to be. Philly may not have comeback but that penalty made it impossible. The Eagles coach may be saying the “right things” but that call decided the outcome. The NFL will never address it again, they moved on.
  8. My older son has a Boa Constrictor and a Pit Bull. They get along fine. I won’t go into his house unless the Boa is put away.
  9. I like Thompson with Tuch. Hate to see those two breakup. Breaking up Cozens and the Kids is probably needed for now. Maybe Quinn can get going with Krebs and Z. It’s worth a look.
  10. Not that I heard. After the first two Calgary goals in the 2nd period I was pleading for DG to call time out and try to reset them. Then UPL lets in a cheesy one and he seemed to deflate as did the rest of them. I was there and watching the entire rink, they we literally standing around and watching.
  11. I am in between on this. I’m not ready to hit the accelerator and pull a Murray, but a move to improve and be serious about the playoffs would help. One reason I don’t want to deal a bunch of prospects away is because we don’t know what they are. Savioe and Kulich could be better players than Quinn or Peterka. We don’t know, so I would be reluctant to deal any of the four until we see more. That said, we have other prospects and picks that could possibly be used to improve the team right now. For now I will call the Calgary game an anomaly due to the schedule, after the west coast trip I think things will get clearer.
  12. Of the many things that the government feeds us that I don’t fully embrace are jobs reports, unemployment data, and inflation rates. So much of it doesn’t track with what we see out in the world. Probably an OT discussion for another thread.
  13. Still seething a bit about that game yesterday. Two things stuck out to me yesterday. The second line was bringing nothing. Cozens is playing alone much if the time. He even had to take on a few Flames in scrum with no support. The kids seem to have hit that rookie wall. Adding a power forward type (Meier) isn’t going to happen so I guess we press on. The 3rd defensive pairing played much more than usual (over 16 mins each) and they struggled. Adding a solid veteran 4/5 in a trade would really help. Don’t see it happening but it might be worth it if we are serious and honest about this playoff run.
  14. Call me a homer but the refs were lousy. Krebs get interfered with no call. Then he gets cross checked in the back and falls and he gets embellishment while the Flames got cross checking. Why call embellishment when you called the guy for cross checking? There were long periods of holding by the flames with no call. Lots of tick tack hooking. The interference on Dahlin was wrong, especially given what they let go.
  15. The Sabres disappointed a lot of fans today. It was a good turnout. Lots of youngsters. The Sabres just were not ready to play.
  16. I was at the game. It was a decent first period although I noted to my friends and family that the 3 SOG’s in the first is a problem. They simply overpassed and they let the Flames goalie off the hook. They had many chances to shoot while others could crash the net for rebounds. This was another game that we played on the perimeter, no traffic in front of the net. The second period was atrocious and they were dominated. They stood around and watched. The long break took its toll. I won’t point out all the players that stunk today, the list is long, but they are missing something - playoff experience. I am very dissatisfied with the effort. I thought DG should have called a timeout at 2-2 and tried to wake them up. In addition, too much ice time for certain young players in a playoff hockey environment - we have too many players that need sheltered minutes.
  17. I am not into labels but do they have to be “upper middle class” to buy hockey tickets? Whatever that is in today economy? 🤷‍♂️ And yes, they are single, college graduates- engineers, financial planners and professionals - with enough disposal income to split seasons tickets with friends. Why is this hard to believe? I don’t look at young people in the 25-35 age range as lesser than past generations. Since I recruited many engineers over the past decades my experience is often the opposite of what a lot of people say.
  18. I have tickets for the Calgary game. The break was probably too long but it is what it is. The Sabres need to get hot right out of the gate to stay in it. I am ready, it feels great to be relevant again.
  19. Gotta love these these blanket statements. My 20 something sons and nephews go all the time and they are quite capable of making good financial decisions. Their friends are the same. The younger generation, as a group, is pretty bright from my perspective. Those 20 something’s that you see at the game are probably making much more money than you think.
  20. Yes. When healthy he is very good. But he may not fit. That’s were I would love to hear what Adams and his people think.
  21. I think the Kane talks are crazy. If he was from anywhere else would anybody link him to Buffalo. At this stage in his career he is not what we need. I read somewhere on the internet (could be nhl.com), a rumor of Joel Edmundson to Buffalo. He fits the need of a 4/5 defenseman, he is big and mobile, he has 2 years left on contract, he has veteran experience and a Cup ring. He should not break the bank. This kind of deal seems more likely than Chyckrun.
  22. I would convert it to an Owen Power Jersey.
  23. I think Quinn is a key player for the playoff push, and that is a problem for the Sabres. The higher projections that I’m reading here, like 18 to 20 goals and 35 to 40 points would really help this team to make the playoffs. They have to finish ahead of three teams out of Washington, Pitts, NYI, and Florida. It’s going to be interesting. Quinn, and that entire line, need to pick it up, but will they? I still have visions of him falling and playing hesitant hockey for periods of time and the playoff intensity is something has to click. I think it will but it will happen next season. I will go with 14 -15 goals and 32-35 points, with continued flashes of promise.
  24. I meant his acquisition from waivers. I didn’t see it in the list or KA accomplishments.
