Oh, well that would settle the discussion.

So true. There is no excuse to not come out pumped up and get the Buffalo Crowd into the game.
-
Correct. I am talking about replacing Cable for Youtube TV (~$60/month) - provided you have good/strong wifi and the TV hardware needed. So if you are not in Buffalo/WNY viewing area, like @PASabreFan for example, you can add the Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle for $12.99 (or ESPN+ alone for $9.99) and you are still paying less much than half of his $200 cable bill (which I assume has MSG).

You said you like him, I figured you would like him as a player because he is a very good player. I just wondered if you met him or knew him personally. Buffalo is a small town, it is not unusual to met and know Sabres and Bills. Sounded like you might know him from your comment.

Consider cutting the cable chord PA. Youtube TV has all the basic cable crap on it, including local channels, for about $65, not $200. You do need to have good wifi in your house for it to be worthwhile. I assume your internet provider has good service and you have a good router to get a strong wifi signal? If you don't have a newer Smart TV that plays these Apps you can buy a Roku or a Firestick for about $30 bucks to stream the apps - you just connect it to a spare HDMI input on your TV. I get your concerns but technology moves on and you either get caught up or stay behind forever.

I figured you would. He was a very good player. Have you met him? Ever talk to him?
-
amen. If you don't live in WNY EPSN+ for $9.99/mo is the way to go. You can get it bundled with Hulu and Disney+. No pre and post Sabres games but you get almost all the NHL games too.

Makes sense to me. ROR is dislikeable to Sabres fans. He was on a sports spotlight in St Louis yesterday and was all sappy smiles and soooooo happy to be a Leave and "have a chance to win again". As if he is entitled to that. He apparently was losing his love for the game again with prospect of facing a rebuild. The good people of St Louis wished him well though but I have not heard him reciprocate that back as of yet. I am sure he will be beloved in St Louis forever given his Selke/Smythe/Stanley Cup winning year.

I would love to see them monopolize the Norris. We will have lots of excellent teams if that happens.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

Probably so. When I talk about the D, I also mean the way the forwards play in their defensive zone. Team defense. -

The getting cute and over passing in the offensive zone is often discussed. Pay close attention to the defensive play. They even over pass in their own zone. The forwards have to be more intense on getting the puck over the blue line. That means taking a hit and also giving a hit. -

They need more commitment to team defense. Against SJ they were carelessly throwing the puck around in their end, good teams will bury them if they play like that. They have a lot of skill and they tend to get too cute on breakouts and they get too cute on scoring chances. -

So we sit Jost, or Krebs? Zemgus or Kyle? Peterka? I do not see how this changes much of anything by tweaking the 4th line. Lets get better on the blue line and seriously upgrade Bryson/Clague.

Florida more important than Toronto in the standings, but Toronto is important to the psyche. Gotta beat the damn Leaves. Never gonna forgive Harold Ballard ... -
Jost is better. Who does Lafferty replace?

Meh. First off, the broadcast crew in Boston are a couple of tools that only talk up Boston and nothing else. Good story for them to toot their coaches horn. Maybe Linus realized if he can't win in Boston he is not going to ever get to the next level? Linus had Bales in Buffalo, a damn good goalie coach. He worked rebound control in Buffalo, every goalie does. He worked through injuries and surgeries. He had every chance in Buffalo but he played for lousy teams most of the time, with a revolving door of coaches/GMs, and a poor overall culture. Boston must have seemed like hockey heaven. He has matured in his 8th year, and he plays behind the best defensive team in the league, and everything came together. -

Probably not, but Karlsson is a forward that plays defense. He is a gifted but one dimensional player and always has been. He is always a threat to score when on the ice but over about 900 games now it is safe to say that good defensive play is not his forte. If the Sabres are protecting a one goal lead with one minute left 22 year old Dahlin is definitely going to be on the ice, not sure 32 year old Karlsson plays that role for his team. -

This is were depth comes in. We play 6 of the last 8 on the road too. Hopefully every team feels they have tough March and April, but we really do. -
If you upgrade and add a 2nd pair defender you get the positive ripple effect of also upgrading the 3rd pair since Joker would move down to that pair, and Bryson/Clague would be pushed to 7/8 giving more depth overall. So you don't break the bank, but add a solid 4/5 guy and see what defensive combo's work the best.

I said Karlsson is the best offensively, his stats bear it out. He is also 32 years old and is still a minus player, as he has been for almost every season in his career. Dahlin is a better overall defenseman right now at 22 years of age. All that said, Karlsson will probably get the Norris this season unless the Sabres make the playoffs and Dahlin continues to put this team on his back. -

Yes he is, he is the best offensively. Dahlin is better defensively, he is physically much tougher and brings more presence and jam, and he is still right there offensively with Karlsson. -
Cozens Contract Extension Announced, 7 years 7.1 Million AAV
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Me too. I sure hope that it is Quinn and Peterka. Next year they should take a big lea forward. This year they have both had flashes of really good play mixed with growing pains. I wonder how many points Cozens has playing on other lines or on special teams - it would not surprise if it is half of his production this year. -

Once he gets on a stable line he will be a ppg player. Plus he does everything needed over 200 feet of ice.
