Bucci tired to put a good spin on it. No doubt, hockey support has been seriously injured in WNY. Sure the cost of living today is part of it, but it just feels like the passion for hockey is so much less now. Its going to take a few more years to show the casual fans what this team is all about. KA, you want to bring the fans back? Make the playoffs.

Sabres trade for Defenseman Riley Stillman in exchange for Josh Bloom
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
We need another depth defenseman right now. Can't really should not wait around for the right one to appear on waivers. Not at this time of year when rosters are not limited as of Saturday. We don't know that Stillman isn't good, we know that he has had mixed performances on a few different teams and his ceiling is a 6. He is a depth guy. We are trading a B level prospect forward at a position we have in surplus for a defenseman that already plays as a 3rd pairing in the NHL. -

Absolutely. We were carrying 7 defenseman, Dahlin gets hurt and it takes us to 6. Who know who else is playin banged up? You need 8 on the roster. He will probably be better than Clague/Bryson, we will see. Not the move I wanted but there are a few days left to Friday. -
I don’t think Peterka is floating, he is thinking, the game has not slowed down for him yet. He is still very young.

Looks like we have another 6/7/8 guy to go with Bryon and Clague. So the organization has at least 8 defenseman with NHL experience going into this critical stretch. I feel more moves are coming. The have to figure out how to fit him unless he joins after Friday. If he turns out to be a Jost-like pick-up, he is the new 6. I was hoping for more impact, either adding a 4 and moving Joker with Boosh on the 3rd pair, or adding a much more experienced 5/6 type. As far as Bloom goes, he was a pretty long shot. -
I value the leadership of Kyle and Zemgus. If we lose one, having the other might be good. I know that Greenway is really big and would be a deterrent to opposing wise guys. Can he skate, play PK, and help shut down an opposing line? I like that.

Nah, I want them to crumble in the first round. They deserve that.

Sabres sign Michael Houser. He has cleared Waivers
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Lots of times I cant even figure out what he is saying. He is either funny, or I don't understand him at all. -
The Tampa model. Still paying a lot for McCabe

Jakob Chychrun scratched for trade related reasons
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I would like this to be true. To be honest I would also be happy with a less fancy, defensive minded 4/5 type of vet that costs less. -

Buffalo needs to make the goatheads permanent

As long as I never see the Slug again. Nothing about those uni's was good. -

Blue and Gold is the permanent. Black Goatheads are great change of pace and cool. I loved those Goathead teams too. Talk about scrappy Goatheads .... -
broken to me would imply separated, it could be hairline crack. Either way, it could take awhile.

Aspy does not seem to have the speed and offensive skill to match DG's style. Some here had him as a potential Selke guy but I never saw that. Even his PK work seemed to be average. With all the young forwards in the system he will probably be traded. For now he is good backup insurance for us.

Check out Donnie's post game interview. He and Apert are very pleased with Vinnie in Rochester, his game and his attitude, and Donny personally told him he would get another shot and to be ready. Donny backed up his word and the player responded.

Once the game ended I went away happy, we had ours sons over for a big family dinner and some laughs. I come back and see all most of the talk is UPL and who's fault the goals are. With Dahlin and Tuch out, the Sabres came up big, at home in front of a sell out crowd, on NHL Network. That is great. We are in playoff position with games in hand. They just have to consistently win at the current pace. They need to shore up the defensive play of the TEAM, especially because we do not have a true #1 goalie to count on. Moving forward, they need to get ready to play a lesser team at home and get excited about it and take care of business against CBJ. Overall it was great hockey and Cozens really stepped up as did many others today. -
the broken fax machine ...

If you really have 3 pairs good enough to go 20 then you are rich at defense. I like it.

Vinnie had good game. Happy for him. No need to argue about sending anyone down with Tuch on IR. When Tuch comes off IIR it will be after the trade deadline, and then we have different rules on roster size. No limit but limited AHL call ups. JJP and Asplund can stay up.

I watch the replays and you can hardly blame UPL for all four goals. But he also didn't play well with a lead. 1 - team effort for poor d zone play. 2 - Turnover, then UPL left a big fat rebound, then Joker failed to clear it. If UPL learn to swallow up the puck he will get better. But it is a problem 3 - He didn't get much help and was unaware 4 - Breakaway - you want your goalie to stop these on occasion, like Andy did 3 times yesterday, but he didn't. Bottom line is he did enough on a day when he got a lot of goal support. I am not gonna rail on him. He showed some improvement since he came up, but his play has leveled off. I though he played a heady 3rd and he covered everything up that he could.
