I see and hear a lot of whole lot of Ranger fans. College kids? Canadians? Real New Yorkers coming in for cheap tickets? -

Very lazy play by Cozens, almost led to a NYR goal. Wake up kid. -

I will be here for one period. Then I’m out with the golfing buddies and our wives for cocktails, dinner, and some laughs. I will be checking ESPN+ on my phone, much to the dismay of my Mrs, for that I’m sure. Muscle Weight. Lets got on these guys from the start and win the game -
Punch made a lot of shrewd trades constantly upgrading the lineup since day 1. Starting with the goalies, and many old veterans that had a few miles left, to actual long term help like Robert, Lorentz, Horton, and Luce. Drafting four impact players in 3 drafts didn't hurt either: Perreault, Martin, Ramsay and Schoenfeld Those teams did not settle for losing. If the defense was week he bought in Pratt, Robey, Horton. If they got pushed around, he traded for fighters. If they needed goals, he traded for scorers. That was in the days of $3.50 Oranges and the Aud was loud and sold out every night - forget about getting tickets, you had to know someone. The crowd pumped up the team back then.

Ehhh, not really. Don't get one as old and as broken down as Gorges was. Think Lydman, think Teppo. Key attributes: good size, strong, mobile, accurate first pass, heady, smart, and calm - a player that can help Power and Dahlin with his know-how and can lead by example. A player that can let them create and not get burned. No more Bryson and Clague getting banged up and throwing the puck around. We should not have to watch that much longer, we have assets and cap room.

collected them $750K at a time

Yes. We all do that.

I’m way past that. I have seen players get drafted that played with or against my kids. 😂 -

The bolded is most important. The Oiler and Islander games were close enough to go either way. Even thought the Islanders shut us down, we stayed in the game and we lost on a fluky goal. The Stars game was a bigger meltdown than the even the Bruins game. Don't think for a moment that the Ranger don't know what is happening. All the more reason to come out strong and play with the lead. I will hate it if we are hearing boo's at home again. -
Fair. The flaws of Samuelsson are probably the most glossed over. Power gets, and deserves, the rookie pass for some of his mistakes. On a good defensive team Power would not see 24 minutes per night either. He is looking very tired right now. What a long rookies season for him in terms of games, minutes, and responsibilities. I don't like the D zone play of our forwards very much. Too many D-zone breakout failures happen when the defenseman does his job and gets the puck to the forward only to see the forward turnover the puck. Some of it is age and experience related. Some of it is that forward does not commit to defense. The most minus forwards are vets like VO and Mitts, they have no excuse.

Absolutely. Instead of feeling good about pushing back, let's push first for a change. Still play with speed and skill, but finish a check when you forecheck. Make the opposing defensive player know he is getting hit every time he retrieves a puck on the wall and in the corner. The Bruins do it. This team has worked so hard to get into the wildcard contender status. Now it is about playing a more physical game. I didn't see any Islander player miss a chance to throw a clean check. Not once. -
You hit it smack on the head and then you started to rationalize. Better goaltending is definitely needed. UPL is still young for a goalie and has been inconsistent. Comrie is a known backup, and no more than that. Better Defense is needed - Look at the xGA/100 data. It says that even Dominik Hasek would struggle with our defensive play. If we believe that Dahlin, Samuelsson, and Power are 1, 2, 3 then we need to fix 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. We also need to fix the way the forwards play or replace the ones that don't/won't/can't play both ways. Adams cannot fall in love with his players. He needs better ones to improve the team's GAA. We are not going to score much more than we already do. You want to win more games? Fix the goals against. Of course trade options will be available, if we are willing to give up something to get something. A good GM takes care of the reasonable price part of it, that is his job. What he cannot control is if players do not want to come to Buffalo, and that is still real. Adams hands are not tied unless Pegula has constraints on spending that he is not telling us about. Adams has both the assets and the cap room, he just needs to do it.

Certainly, I do not condone him throwing them under the bus. Especially since the team has been pushing the limits of what they really are - a very young wild card contender with almost ZERO playoff experience on their roster. I want to see him put the recent learning into practice today - improve upon the terrible team defense, stop the overpassing and get bodies into the dirty areas, no more uninspired and lifeless play at home, and stop making the same mistakes we are seeing all to frequently. Wouldn't it be great to see them come out hard at home and put the Rangers on their heels? Finish checks and push the Rangers first? I don't want Granato to say a thing, just address the obvious problems. I am tired of hearing home crowd boos. -
You start with 2 in Buffalo, 2 in Roch, and 2 in Cinci - where else can you develop them? If you draft 2 per year, in three years you have 6 more either in Junior A, Europe, Russia, or NCAA. Some will be ready to move forward Assuming you draft 18 year olds, and the fastest you get one is 22-23, its more likely to be 25-26. At some point you get saturated. Taking one per year is not a bad idea though and not necessarily at the bottom of the draft either. Last year we took one in the 2nd round.

Agree. So far we know that Adams loves his core, loves his prospect pool, and his draft picks. Can Adams make a real hockey trades to address and improve the deficiencies on this team. The ones that are known league wide and are talked about on TNT, EPSN, NHL Network, HNIC, and on every opposing team broadcast/post game show. Everybody in the hockey world knows their needs: 1 - Goaltending 2 - Defense - include a tighter system that cuts down on shots, shot quality, and odd man rushes against 3- Players with toughness and willingness to play the body (i.e. ability to play playoff style hockey). None of this is coming from rookies within our prospect pool next year. Ryan Johnson and Devon Levi (assuming they sign) need a year on Rochester. We have Savioe and Kulich emerging but where do they fit? Hockey trades are needed. Adams cannot bring us another off-season of Comrie and Lubyshkin type moves.

I think we are going to soundly drub the over-hyped Rags. DG talked about learning from the 10-4 debacle. Let see them put it to practice. -

Boston will rebuild after Bergeron and Krecji. They will still have goaltending and Defense. They will acquire free agents that take a discount to be there, make shrewd trades for additional picks, and find more Bruin-type players in the draft. They always do. -

I think the plan in pencil is UPL (1) and Comrie (2), with Levi in the AHL. I hope that a move for a real NHL starter (like Saros) is also seriously pursued. We need a better bridge to Levi, and we should not rush and ruin Levi.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
Pimlach replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
The top 3 have an average age of 21. Adams has got to get some experienced and talented veterans on that backline - it will make the top 3 better. -

You do realize when you talk about the “this organization” you are referring to numerous different organizations that have quickly come and gone under the current ownership. No one is around from Pegula’s first crew, or second crew. In fact the GM has changed 3 times since he got here and so have all the key FO positions, including the scouts. We are on the 6th coach (Ruff, Rolston, Nolan, Housley, Kruger, and Granato) of the Pegula era. After Ruff, what team would have hired any of these guys as HC? None but Ruff are even in the NHL today. Contrast that with the Sabres first 50 years (pre-Pegula). In those years we had the fourth highest winning percentage in the league. Stability - We had 6 GMs, which was really 5, as one of them was a known 1 year stop gap in between Punch and Scotty. If we actually did acquire a “generational player“ it would be Dahlin, not Eichel, and we still have him. -
