  1. If the goal is playoffs and long term success then I vote to add a few vets with favorable contracts and move on from some of the vets we have. After that we will just have to see how Savioe and Kulich look.
  2. You missed my point. DesLauriers and his cronies had a comfy 4-1 lead and they definitely wanted to fight someone, anyone. They were going after Krebs and then Okposso and no one responded. I was upset at the zero response by Greenway, or anyone else. Greenway was a menacing figure on Minnesota, now he is as quiet as a church mouse without Reaves and Foligno on his line. Maybe he doesn’t want to hurt his knuckles for this group? If he can’t be a deterrent to teams pushing around our skill players then what will he be? Is Granato gonna transform him into a high skill player? Well let’s see how that turns out. He is already 26, he is slow, and he has a poor shot. He is not Tage Thompson #2. The only thing they have in common is height. If he isn’t using his best physical gift - size - he isn’t going to be a factor. Adam’s told us he brings something we need. Ok? What is it? This team can have all the skill in the world and they will never win a playoff series until they push back and maybe even push first. And stop dismissing my logical and valid comments as antiquated, old era (hooligan, Neanderthal, etc) hockey. I know how the league works and how the game has evolved. I’ve been watching, playing, coaching, administrating, and following the game since I was 6. Almost every cup winner in the past 12 years has been a physical team - or at least have had several players that could answer to that game. I am not asking to bring back the 75 Broad Street Bullies, I am asking for the team to defend themselves, show some pride, and not get laughed at on their home rink. Which happened again the next game versus Boston and again against versus Nashville. All at home Boston game - Frederick literally punched out Dahlin, drew blood, no penalty. Cozens answered the next period and took on Frederick. Five minute major. Preds game - Thompson said in his interview he was challenged for his hit on Glass. Our best player had to fight some bum named Sherwood. He answered. Five minute major. Life should have been very uncomfortable for Sherwood after that fiasco. Think about what would have happened to Sherwood if he started a fight with Bergeron or Pastrnak? He would have been looking over his shoulder all game So Dahlin, Cozens, and Thompson are going to get majors for fighting, and possibly get hurt, and you tell me fighting is not part of the game? Watch the playoffs.
  3. Power, not Powers Myers, not Meyer.
  4. True. I would pay 1 first, we have a lot of prospects and you can only develop so many.
  5. Lol. Not everything in the past is Neanderthal is it? They played home on Monday. Did they practice Tuesday, rest Wednesday, and then another home game on Thursday? Or did they get 2 days off? I dont know the answer but two days off is often a bad thing unless you’re nursing an injury. They didn’t have to travel either. Light skating, special teams practice, and defensive positioning all need a lot of attention. Even video sessions of the recent error prone defensive play would help. I don’t know what the union negotiated, if anyo, but they don’t always serve the players best interest with back to backs and travel.
  6. No and no. Saros is probably worth one first round equivalent, not two. Nashville would have to accept a protected first pick in 2024 Someone posted information on what starting goalies have fetched in recent trades. Most do not even get one first rounder.
  7. I really worry about rushing him.
  8. Very good player too.
  9. These fancy stats can’t fool you. Really. Isn’t this routine? Paperwork in place, submit, done.
  10. Too late in the season for this. ^ Maybe rest is more important right now, but a light skate with PP and PK work is in order. Same with film work of all the defensive lapses.
  11. Look at the big contracts he gave to free agents in the Rieger era. Then look at the number of GMs and coaches he paid when they were off the team. I don’t know how much he lost, if any, but he sure spent a lot of money on people that had contracts and were cut or fired.
  12. If we were a veteran team like Boston or Tampa then you could absorb him at 19 years old next season, providing he is good enough to make their team right now. Buffalo just rostered freshman Power, Peterka, and Quinn with sophomores Krebs, Samuelsson, and UPL. Adding Kulich and/or Savoie might be pushing it. Definitely can see him being a call up next year but I sure hope we add enough veteran help to not have to rely on another 19 year old.
  13. multiple feuds - LaFontaine quit, Murray v. Kim problems, Brandon involvement, long time rank and file employees fired, 4 GMs and 6 coaches in 12 years - check. Refuse to pay players - not really an issue but the O’Reilly bonus and Ullmark negotiations come to mind - check. Poor TV coverage, arena in shambles, poor fan experiences at home games - check. I get your point. They are well intended and nice people. They do a lot for Buffalo. They want to do better have not found the right people. Based on todays score card they have to rate as very bad at the job of Hockey Owners and Hockey President.
  14. I almost selected nobody. Adam’s is certainly not in any danger. Granato is safe for now. A thorough review of the players and coaching staff should happen. Improved defensive zone play, better goaltending, and better PK performance is a must. This could mean a coaching change on Granato’s staff. An infusion of more talented players is certainly a must. You must be a bachelor…. 😂
  15. They should get credit for being nice, good, people and doing great things in Buffalo. Arizona, Chicago, Toronto - none have a 12 years playoff drought. Their record is there to see. They are accountable for everything that happens internally for sure, and some of the external- like the teams poor perception throughout the NHL. They put themselves at the top of the Hockey Organization and that is were the final accountability is. Several years can be two years.
  16. 100 mil in the future and Not all at once and So what. They have tons of cap room and those are their core players. Can they spend less than the cap min? No. But they are at cap floor again this season because they didn’t add any good players besides their rookies. They stopped spending on the Sabres during Covid. The rest of the Pegula Empire was hurting, the Sabres got gutted. The entire FO, scouting and coaching staffs had to be rebuilt. The Bills are getting all the money. The free agents, signing bonuses, restructuring, and cap magic is all on the Bills. The Sabres have to build from within, in a league that is 5 times harder for teams to draft and develop. They are literally the worst hockey owners the NHL had ever seen and by any team performance measure you can think off. Good people, sure. Look at the product over 12 years. Terrible and embarrassing. Every night I pray they leave McDermott and Beane alone. I have zero faith that can replace them adequately should they move on.
  17. What? They have been a cap floor team for several years. Did you forget his Efficient, Economic, speech when he fired JBot and hired Adams? The don’t spend big money on the Sabres. Sure, he foolishly spent on free agents in the past.. Sure he extended some Core talent, but they were bargain basement shoppers in the off season and at the trade deadline. They took on salary to get to the cap floor.
  18. Wow! You replace both at once? That has been the past norm, and look at the results.
  19. Sure. And Jack Eichel was a generational talent. Let see what he does in the NHL before we anoint him. I
  20. Really, with Adam’s and Pegula ? You will be here next year and in the thick of the conversation. None of those coaches you mention work in the NHL. They all stink.
  21. Management is definitely better in Boston. It’s not even close. That is not a debate. Counting on Buffalo to hire the right coach, better than Granato, I’d a huge gamble.
  22. No. Firing coaches is one reason we are on this mess. He gets another year. Next year is playoffs or the conversation gets re-opened.
  23. True. Missed him. He probably the most seasoned in playoffs. Skinner and Z never been there - pretty sad
  24. I would have to say that Boston and Tampa are much less a work in progress than Buffalo. Just my opinion but they have far fewer question marks. Replacing Bergeron, although not easy, will be accomplished at some point. The sense of urgency to get better needs to increase. I’m talking about Sabres Management. Right up to March, the Sabres players outperformed their front office and coaches expectations. No one can convince me otherwise. You don’t become an experienced player in one year. No teams win Cups with a roster this young. Next year Quinn and Peterka and Power will still be inexperienced, just like Krebs and Samuelsson are this year. Given Adams comments on prospects and blockers we could be just as young next year.
