  1. Had to look that one up - Crawling in the dark? Electronic and heavy stuff there @inkman
  2. Am I good? That is a hard question to answer. I can play, and some people considered it "good" at one time, but I took off several decades off while forging a career and raising three kids - I put the guitar away for too long (a minor regret for me). Since my retirement in June of 2021 I have been playing a lot. I have a friend that sings and plays which helps get me going. I think I can get a lot better now that I have more time. I am learning faster and I am more confident than ever to just let it rip. There are way more and much better learning tools today than when I started in the late 70's. It sounds like you are at the point where you need to play with other people, in a band if possible, to get to another level. I am guessing you can learn the chords and play the rhythm parts, and eventually play some of the leads, but you are not comfortable with soloing or improvising - correct? Play with other people and that step will gradually come. If you think you can, then you will. Youtube has a ton of stuff to help you, I am just scratching the surface of what is there.
  3. Again, no booze either. Just an old guy typing in the dark. I was playing my guitar, watching hockey with the sound off, and posting on occasion -
  4. Love it. Tampa scores with 0.1 seconds left. time of goal 19:59.9. 😂
  5. Bunting with a cheap and illegal hit. Tampa needs to score a few more.
  6. McCabe with a huge hit. Toronto gets a dumb penalty anyway. Score on PP for Point
  7. Just switched on ESPN, Tampa up 3-0 after 1 period. Blow Leaves Blow
  8. He knows his stature in the room and on the team, and he is not at Tage or Cozens or Mitts level. Men learn and develop stature when we join a group/club/organization or a team. Some of it comes from title, experience, and some is sensed .... similar to dogs in a pack knowing their roles. He knows that right now any ice that the coach offers is what he has, and he must work very hard to keep. If it means doing a different role he will do it. He is very dedicated, he seems to genuinely love the team culture and the city too. I want him to survive the off season so we get another year to evaluate him.
  9. He means top 18 player on in HIS team, not in the league, just like you mean top 22 player (i.e. a starter) on the football team, not in the league. There is no way NHL scouting of 18 year old players can be as accurate as NFL scouting drafting ~22 year old players from college. Age means a lot but is not the only factor. Also consider the the disparity in the competition across the USA, Canada, Europe, and Russia versus College NCAA Division 1.
  10. It was shoulder to shoulder but maybe a bit late and certainly not needed since the shot was off and Hartman had Pavelski covered. Dumba could have got 2 for INT. Can't blame Domi for being Domi either. I noticed no one dropped gloves except for Domi. Playoffs are here. The games get way more intense and emotional.
  11. Interestingly enough, both were drafted 17th overall. In one full NHL season Krebs has already passed Lazar's most productive seasons for goals and points. Krebs will likely score even more next season. He has far better playmaking ability and on ice vision. Lazar is a good faceoff guy and a stout player on his skates. His hands are below average. Lazar is a minus player his entire career, even when he was on the mighty Boston Bruins. If Krebs improves his shot (will take work) and gets stronger (will most certainly happen), he will become a good NHL player somewhere in this league, and not a fringe 4th liner like Lazar is.
  12. I see three things: 1 - the face off itself 2 - gaining control of the puck after a faceoff (therefore getting credit for winning it) 3 - maintaining puck control We are bad at #1, that is in the face off data and cannot be disputed. This is really important in the defensive zone. We appear to also be bad at #2, which is the actual battling for possession after face-offs that are contested with no clear winner. I have seen this team lose possession on faceoffs they won, or face-offs with no clear winner, way too often - I think a lot of the problem is experience and compete level in our D zone. We are good at #3. We are a good puck possession team, once we have it. I will never subscribe to the notion that faceoffs are not important but I think that being at or near 50% is good enough. We lost a number of games because we blew third period leads. D-zone faceoffs and our inability to get possession in our D zone is a contributor to this team falling 2 points short. Neutral zone faceoffs tend to blur the data. I would like to see data on goals given up after a lost D-zone faceoff, and goals scored after a won O-zone faceoff.
  13. I didn’t hear his name too often. He doesn’t drive the play.
  14. Edmonton has a big team. Maybe it’s their Uni’s but they look real big, fast, skilled and tough. A good match for Boston.
  15. Edmonton coach is a goofball.
  16. Bruins: Marchand got his 50th playoff goal. Ullmark looks really good.
  17. We had 3 defenders with positive +/-, Samuelsson 14, Dahlin 12, Power 10. What you see is his 23:48 of time on ice, second only to Dahlin. Very impressive 20 year old rookie defenseman.

  22. Interesting. I vote his next contract is long term, that is what we are saving all this cap space for. Wait a year and he will cost more. He seems like a sure thing but you bring up an interesting point.
  23. I never do anything for 10 minutes tops. I screw around on line too much as it is. For example: I have a part time consulting gig that is mostly computer work and on Zoom/Webex meetings, I play guitar and I learn guitar songs YouTube for hours a day. I participate in Sabre Space, Two Bills Driive, etc. We are retired and we travel. This summer it is a heavy dose of Buffalo and family with big birthdays, weddings, graduations, reunions and such. Buffalo time => last week of May, all of June, last two weeks of July and first 2 weeks in August. Then fall and its trips for Bills football in September, a wedding in October, hockey in October/November. I will practically be in Buffalo full time for part of the year. I have to schedule trips home just to care for the garden and do a little business.
  24. I am going to pass. I have a bunch of travel planned, plus golf, plus our garden and summer stuff.
  25. I see it as Quinn is the top talent, a natural scorer. Then it gets interesting. Krebs vs Peterka is a very close comparison. JJP had 12G, 32 points, -15. He played mostly 2nd line, and he was sheltered from tough minutes against high quality opponents. He showed some good speed and ability to drive the net and generate offense. Good rookie season overall Krebs had 9G, 26 points, -8. He played mostly 4 line, was not sheltered nearly as much, and was eventually given tough assignments at the end of games, on the PK, and against top lines. Because he played 40+ games last year he was not considered a rookie The small difference in scoring could be situational and reflects their line mates and their roles. Krebs is a year older and he learned the defensive side of the NHL game first because he was asked to do so. I think he has much more to his game offensively. They played almost identical minutes. I would rank Krebs slightly ahead because he played a harder position and harder minutes. I think he is more versatile at C/W. Still, JJP was a pure rookie Either one could be traded due to our surplus at forward. Which one may depend on the team we trade with more than any other factor. They simply have not played enough for me to come to any solid conclusions yet.
