  1. Yes. The no salute thing was in response to the "fire Donny" chanting. To me it shows how young this team was and more importantly how bad the internal leadership on the team actually was, and probably still is. Around that same time Boston played poorly and got booed off their home ice, and their coach said the fans were smart and they were right. Marchand said the fans were right and they should have played better. Simple and done. No issues In Buffalo Granato did it wrong, and then he pointed out to the media that some of these players signed long term contracts. I take that to mean that it is a sacrifice to be in Buffalo. It actually is and that is 100% on Terry. The relationship between the fan base and the team gets worse with every losing season.
  2. Why do you think that? Are you going back to the booing last season and the calls for firing Granato?
  3. I went to Chloe's X page and there is not much on it. Just a few fans throwing shots at the inept management. It looks like attendance was very sparse. Benson, Quinn, and Byram. Why did they get picked for this assignment? Think that over.
  4. I went to school exhausted from no sleep, and even more exhausted by retelling that story. Rashad with OJ - they just scratched the surface of being an elite combo, and it ended.
  5. Every poster in this forum that defends Pegula and Adams, and there are several, should at least try to explain this one. Byram, Benson, and Quinn show up and no management. Byram an RFA. Benson a 19 year old kid. Quinn another guy with no contract after the season. That is who they send? We know that Terry Pegula has checked out of Sabreland, but what about Gueli, Minter, and Adams? These are the top execs. Not one of them could be bothered? I’ll say it again, this team has been destroyed. Everything the Pegula version of the Sabres does is second rate, at best. Glad I stopped buying tickets.
  6. Straight talker - yes Not afraid to take risk - yes, in a bad way. Get us to the playoffs? Impossible - he stripped the team, the farm, the culture, and everything else. No class, no tact, no plan. One and done and never to be heard of again. A classic example of nepotism if there ever was one.
  7. Reiger went to Arizona as Sr VP an AGM after Buffalo Housley went to Arizona after Buffalo. Now he is Associate Coach for NYR Botterill is one of the three Assistant GMs in Seattle The rest are not with NHL teams to my knowledge. Patty LaF still works for the league in some capacity.
  8. I was there that night. That was one of the best MNF games ever. Rashad wanted a raise, something like $20,000. Gone. Thanks Ralph.
  9. It’s a combination of factors. The long 14 year drought points squarely at Terry Pegula Since the JBot firing and EEE the entire blame goes to both Pegula and his sidekick Kevyn Adams This season the blame goes to Adams roster construction, the coaches, and the ability and heart of many of the players Moving forward: Perform serious and professional search for an experienced and respected NHL hockey Exec Fire Adams Let the new guy restructure the FO, the Coaching staff, and the roster Start establishing a WIN NOW culture.
  10. Taking his C away now is like assigning him the blame and that blame should fall on Kevyn Adams. The C means little on a team with no winning culture and very little pride. It’s probably more of a hinderance. The best player on the team is not the problem. Wanna win? Get some better players.
  11. @DarthEbriate has been placed on IR due to exhaustion. The team sent him to warmer climate, with palm trees, for rest and rehab.
  12. Yes, I also meant trading NHL players for more picks, and then sitting on the picks. Which is our cycle right now.
  13. Its the middle of the 2023 season. The Bill have many injuries and need veteran help at CB. Beane gets this guy for a 3rd round pick and he has been their starter ever since. This is the mind set we need on the Sabres. First, the GM takes action to fix a problem. Second, the player fits. I don't know if Rasul Douglas had this mindset before he got here, or learned it since he got here, but it is the EXACT one the Sabres need. Blowing leads because something bad happened is avoidable.
  14. The bold is the way to build a Cup winner. You have to get in the upper echelon first. Looking for short cuts won't work because this team doesn't attract the right players. Once you get to the top tier good players will come here and you can fine tune from there. A top 8 team in Buffalo, one that is a contender every year, will bring fans back and attract new ones. Winning games needs to be the priority again. Not draft picks.
  15. I think we can move Byram and Cozens in separate deals (may need to add some sweeteners) and bring in a few players rather than trade both for EP, who scares me as being another high paid but talented floater.
  16. Agree that move need to made. I worry that EP will find Buffalo is good place to coast.
  17. They should be playing for personal pride. To win, to get better. For something to carry forward. To entertain their fans.
  18. Come to Buffalo to be the best version of yourself. Works for McDermott.
  19. Good research. Way too much thrust on Cozens from the start.
  20. Sounds similar to the Marco Scandella trade. We got a 4th from Montreal, once they fell out of the race they traded him to St Louis for a 2nd at the deadline. Not sure any salary retention was involved. Timing is everything.
  21. resigns or re-signs?
  22. Great game. Bills with a solid game against a game opponent that came in prepared and well coached. No surprise on the results but you have to play the games. Next week is the 3rd toughest game of the season. Assuming we get two more after that.
