We have had terrible goaltending for so long that the fanbase does not even know it anymore.

Some options are gone. I don't think Hellebyuck (sp?) is affordable (since Levi is the plan) and a long term deal seems to be a thing for him. The guy in Nashville, similar thing - cost/term. Jarry from Pitts, Hart from Philly - they both have proven themselves beyond UPL/Comrie. That level of goalie should fit the timeframe and the budget of KA. KA's past tendencies concerning goalies has been to stick with the lowest cost options. So its probably going to be UPL as the #2 if I had to bet.

1. No - don't think we should risk a playoff season with Levi and UPL/Comrie 2. Yes - we need to should add a proven NHL goalie that has had some success. Get out of the bargain bin Kevyn. 3. I think the term "a fair amount" might be more than the survey question specifies, and I stop short of calling it "whatever it takes". I fall in between. I think we need a proven goalie to be brought in. Someone who can be a 1B, unless he actually plays like the 1A (blasphemy). Look at adding him on a 2-3 year contract. Getting the dollar value of the contract to fit the salary cap's projected plan-line (which none of us really knows) is the hard part. Tom Petty said that the waiting is the hardest part. He is right.

There were middle 6 UFAs that we passed on, although rumor has it we pursued one pretty hard but could not reach an agreement.
-
I think he will be moved after Quinn gets back, probably at the deadline. Unless we package him in a hockey trade somehow in favor of an emerging prospect.
-
Good on paper but how do they pay Pesce and add Karlsson after adding Orlov?
-
ROR will party like crazy there.

There is golf or other exercise, there is playing a musical instrument, drawing/painting, gardening/ landscaping, woodworking, volunteering …. you can do these things and many more and your wife might be happy that your not surfing the net or watching senseless TV. Your meatless meatloaf could become a nice juicy rib eye.

Ssshhh. He can hear you.

Looking at Adams past practices would tell me, no extension then no deal. Include an extension and a favorable contract and then yes, I would trade a prospect or pick (not any prospect either). The problem is the contract term and AAV. Add Helle and we are a pretty strong team.

This approach got us Dell and Tokarski in past seasons.

Sabres sign Defenseman Connor Clifton to 3 year 3.33 AAV Deal
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Probably will hang in there fine. Better him than Dahlin or Krebs. Agree. Lucic is a manikin on skates but still capable of dirty stuff. (Still thinking of the Miller hit). When the Sabres start to consistently win you can bet that certain players and teams will try to intimidate them. Close teams that support can overcome this. Having a good power play is nice too. -

Clifton has 60 PIM last season, his highest total yet but he only had one fight. Still, he tends to go off with someone. He is tough. He hits and he does not like stuff happening around his goalie. One of the best middle weight fighters in the league IMO. -
Really. I bet you keep track of the times your wrong too huh? Adams is turning this thing around. He is slow and deliberate, not every move will be perfect, but he has them trending in the right direction. I don't say that because I worship him or his credentials, I say it because is the proof can be seen and measured.

Sabres sign Defenseman Connor Clifton to 3 year 3.33 AAV Deal
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I want 8 NHL caliber defensemen and the bottom 4 to be equally capable on any given night. Johnson can play 45'ish games and actually help in other ways. Similar to Anderson's role the past few seasons. I think the current defense group of Dahlin, Power, Muel, Clifton, Joker, Lyubushkin, Stillman, E Johnson, Bryson is not going to be the final configuration. -
You have been pushing Clifton for 10 months and we signed him. Is he garbage now? Agree. A healthy Lyubushkin was a good 3rd pair guy. He played hurt and very hurt, more than he did healthy.
-
Yes, there could be another move coming.
-
Well we aren't a good team yet. Especially on the blueline. If he is better than Clague/Bryson/Stillman then we improved the group. We don't have to rush Ryan Johnson into the lineup either. He is big and tough and he has a veteran presence that we could use back there. He deserves more respect than some of you guys are giving. I hope he is not washed up and I actually trust Kevyn Adams to know this more about this than the experts on Sabresspace such as me and you.
-
You are wrong. You don't bring in tryout players with our current defense. We had the kind of depth that gets you in 9th or 10th place in the conference. We had poor depth year (Clague and Bryson) and it didn't work. Look at our W/L record when Muel was hurt. Look at the minutes lost by Lybushkin to injury. Look at the losing streak that happened when half our defense went down. Look at how many games Dahlin played injured - hampering his ability to recover. You really want tryout players and misfits like Clague and Bryson for depth? Then we will repeat last year. Sure we are paying a lot, but for one year. Talk to Adams. Perhaps he and Granato see him as a 4/5. I see him as 6/7 and depth unless they plan on moving some other players.
-
He is not known as a "clown" around the league, actually quite the opposite. It is a one year deal, a bit expensive but we have the cap space this year and he will be valuable if we have injuries, which we had lots of last year. I can see our 5/6 pair rotating a new player in almost every game. It is called depth.

you keep 8 NHL defenseman Dahlin Muel Power Clifton Luby Joker rotate in: Stillman Johnson Rochester: Bryson along with Ryan Johnson.
