John Roth COO of the Sabres is no longer with the organization
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Well, they were apparently horizontal enough to create a problem. If either are married, it’s an affair. If they are not married to other people, then ethical business issues are possible - so this could have been fixed by simply changing the org structure to have both report to him. There must be ethical issues to consider that are only known on the inside. Terry has gushed over Roth in past interviews, citing his skill and leadership, and now this. The AP reports that Roth and D’’Angelo reported to Terry, and Kim, and Laura Pegula. Why Laura? What is she in the organization? This is not the first flawed organization he has set up for his teams. His first group to run the Sabres was a mess. Terry does some weird and stupid things. Right now he generates zero confidence that he can run a successful and winning organization - in my opinion. I sure hope Beane and Adams are shielded from all this. -

Incredible. He is infecting both teams. Pegula is quite a character. -
There is no comparison between Benson and Bryson, they are not at the same level. Benson looks like he could be a impact player, Bryson has been stinking up the joint for a few years now. Bryson "earns" a spot, Stillman does not. I can get on board in trusting in Granato, and Bryson plays the kind of game that DG likes, so Bryson is in. Lets all remember that kind of game gave up 300 goals last year.

How concerned is Sabrespace about the defense and goaltending?

Ten games are not enough. Ask the Florida Panthers. -
I put this in a Lotus spreadsheet on my IBM XT and I came up with 24.

Only surprise to me is Bryson beating out Stillman. I did not see that in the preseason.

Sabres Sign Dahlin to an 8 Year 88 Million Dollar Extension
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Hated by refs? Not seeing this. He draws penalties and he takes some penalties. One way he can reduce taking penalties is to see other players, rather than Dahlin, respond to the BS that teams lay on us. As far as players with good relationship with the refs, that is not a thing, but the older cagey vets will probably get more respect and more benefit of the doubt than others. I like seeing Dahlin get nasty and want to see more of that from the defense. I expect to from Clifton. Muel should start to do that more. -
Barry Melrose retiring after Parkinson’s diagnosis

Parkinson’s is rough. Hope to see more progress treating it someday. -

Overpaid? He is the best guy on the team. This will be a deal. Dahlin will have a long and great prime, he is young and he is still getting better. -
Guess which Buffalonian is worth more than Terry?

Bob Rich is moving a significant portion of his operation out of Buffalo. A major downsizing is taking place. -
We shall see.

Clifton will not be a problem if he is used correctly. His ceiling is a 4, but most likely a good 3rd pairing guy with PK ability. I seriously doubt the Bruins failed to see his true potential.

Really?

Pegula’s opinion might differ. With the Bills being bonafide contenders and the new stadium in work, what are Pegula’s goals for the Sabres? Adam’s is on a slow, steady rebuild, and has been given lots of leeway. When does ownership press for more results? I don’t see that KA or DG have any risk right now, even with their self proclaimed higher expectations to make the playoff. On top of that I don’t trust Pegula to find and hire someone better. -

How concerned is Sabrespace about the defense and goaltending?
Pimlach replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I am concerned about the goaltending for obvious reasons - a rookie and two unproven backups is a high risk situation. Only slightly concerned about the defensive players because the pairings will be tweaked until DG finds the optimal combinations. Talent wise we have some very good players on the blue line. Very concerned about “the system” when it comes to playing defense and protecting a lead. This includes the play of the forwards. -
GDT: Sabres vs Pens- October 6, 2023 - 7:00PM, MSG/NHLN📺WGR📻
Pimlach replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
I missed the game. Didn’t see any of it. Sounds like some of the vets are not in full gear yet. Time to move on and start the season. For 2023-24 we brought in Devon Levi, Conner Clifton, Erik Johnson, and Zach Benson. Will it be enough to get us to the playoffs? I am ready to see and looking forward to it. -

If we are serious about getting a good start then we should play Levi, as many of the top 6 defenseman, and as many of the top 12 forwards as possible. This is a warmup for opening night. They need to get the team ready for real hockey. Comrie has slightly outplayed UPL for the #2 spot - but DG and Adams see all the data and every practice, and they look at contracts and potential. With UPL as the backup tonight they just might like UPL better? The bubble players are UPL, Comrie, Bryson, Stillman, Clague, VO, and Jost. Some of these guys will be waived. I suspect GD and Adams already know who they are. -
You waive the player that is last on the depth chart in a position that is not in a critical state - especially if there are people on the PS in that position that are capable. I don't know enough about every player to name who that is, I just think that Jonathan would get picked up because he is an edge rusher with upside.
-
I don't see Jonathan clearing waivers.

Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #10 Henri Jokiharju
Pimlach replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
The proof will be in the his play. The injury is gone. DG seems to like Joker and he will get a fair chance. Clean slate for 2023-24. -
The object is to make the playoffs. They should dress the players that can best help us do that. Planning all these rotations should not be priority.

- Benson looks good so far and earned his 9 games, AND maybe more. - Too early to say anything about Mitts but I do think Cozens is the real 2C, he just needs a steady line. Last year he played with 2 rookies and he moved around a lot. - Greenway has not impressed me yet. I just don't see much effort. - Comrie or UPL - they are both below average. Goaltending will continue to be an issue - I fear that not enough was done at this position and everything hangs a rookie. - Kulich, Rosen, R Johnson are really good prospects but we cannot absorb them right now and win. They need time in the "A" to start the season, then we see how things progress and if any of them fit and fill a need. You last point is my only major disagreement. Maybe they are not yet focused but its it too early to say. They carried a big roster all preseason and they looked at a lot of people. We could start slow because of it and it could take a few weeks for the real team to get going. We will need everyone on the team to stay together and keep working. This is supposed to be a playoff run, the season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Honda Accord is fantastic performing, highly reliable, and is made in Marysville Ohio (near Columbus). Honda's break in at about 200,000 miles. Want smaller or less cost? look at the Civic.
