  1. A lot of what @PerreaultForever just said I agree with, and you raise a good point as well. The current core is not to blame and they look very promising. As for banging Pegula, it’s understandable for hockey fans to do it, his hockey record is abysmal.
  2. Do you recall the day?
  3. How do they look out of shape? They are lean and strong athletes. Don't confuse rusty with being out of shape. Last year they faced this trap a lot and they beat it, including 2 times against these Islanders. They cannot fall behind 3-0 again, they need a goalie to keep it close. I have been saying they need a goalie since I came on these boards. Maybe Levi will be the answer? A win and I will be happy. I don't need highlight reel goals, just a W.
  4. Ha ha. I am staining/painting my deck railings today. Well, my son is doing it and I am “helping” out a bit. It’s nice that the tables turned and now he can out work me on the physical labor stuff. It's especially nice that I can still beat him in golf.
  5. Oh, yes, they do. I thought you meant “trap” as in we are better and cannot take them lightly. The Islanders normally play a style we have trouble with, but we beat them twice last year so maybe we can get going.
  6. It should not be trivial to shut the Sabres down if they are skating hard, you have to have the right players and the will. The Rangers played a solid 1-3-1, and they blocked 23 shots in a playoff-like effort in a game were the Sabres were still shaking off rust. The islanders are even grittier. They will play the same game, they have the people to do it, and like the Rangers, they have really good goaltending. I don’t see a win here unless a Sabres goalie steps up and can keep us in a close game.
  7. How is it a trap? The isles have a better team, they made the playoffs, they have excellent goaltending, and they are the home team. The Sabres should be considered underdogs almost every night. They are not proven at all, especially with a rookie goaltender.
  8. I bet that is an interesting read.
  9. Is this Kevin Adams ?
  10. Now you confused me? What does you last sentence mean? Do you think Pegula should have let it go?
  11. The Rangers played like it was a playoff game, they blocked a ton of shots. They were very impressive for game 1. They had a PPG and a SHG. After the game Panarin was asked about the 1-3-1 and he said we did not play a good game.
  12. I don’t believe in Friday the 13, black cats, broken mirrors, etc. I do wear the same Bills hat and tee shirt every game until a loss occurs, then I change it up and stick with the new combo. I do not do that for the Sabres, 82 games is too many to track that stuff I guess.
  13. Reading between the lines from Adams interviews. Teams wanted his top prospects like Savoie and Kulich, and not Jost/Krebs. The Sabres are still learning about what they have with these players - which is why they played so much youth in the preseason. Eventually he will have to make some moves. Players like Orlov, and apparently Pesce this off season, have to want to come to Buffalo. Veteran players who want to win and will play for less money to join a contender do not consider the Buffalo Sabres just yet. Same story with the Bills prior to the McBeane era. If we can just turn the corner to become a playoff team, then we can be a contender.
  14. Someone paid attention in algebra and trig.
  15. Yes. I have the same thoughts. Adam’s says this year playoffs are the expectations. So they are going for it with the current roster.
  16. At some point Adams will have to trade some players and prospects for key pieces that can round out this group. We have many more forward prospects than we do slots to play them. The team culture is changing for the better, we just need to get to winning as the expectation. We need goaltending too.
  17. Two more rookies in line up. Three rookies on the roster counting Savoie (on IR). Many of the Rochester call ups will be young rookies too. Benson 18, Savoie 19, Power 20, Levi 21, JJP 21, Quinn 22, Krebs 22, Cozens 22, Dahlin 23, Samuelsson 23 Then consider Levi is the #1 goalie, Power is a 20+ minute player, Cozens is a 2C with PP and PK roles, and Dahlin/Samuelsson are the “ veteran” 1 pair. Benson and Savoie could still end up back in juniors. It’s a young team but nobody wants to hear development year when all the players, coaches, and the GM were saying playoffs is their goal. It will be January when we will know if Adams did enough in the off season and if DG can take the next step installing a better defensive system.
  18. Can we stop the Owen Power BS. He has played one (1) game. How is one game a slump? Do you think this comment is an overreaction? I hope you do. Many young players have a difficult year after after their rookie season. Can he at least play his 2nd season without all the drama.
  19. I like hits but I prefer shots and scoring chances.
  20. A home opener loss. I thought they were still in preseason mode for the most part. A few players stood out to me. I liked what I saw from Peterka, Benson, Clifton, Greenway, Johnson and Levi. Hoping Peterka takes a step this year. Benson got involved and made things happen. Clifton was hitting and he did good joining the rush. Greenway was working hard and being a presence, and I have not had many positive Greenway comments until tonight. The 4th line was -2.
  21. Peca is on the Ranger bench. We will coach our team someday.
  22. Well that says a lot. The Rangers are veterans, and the Sabres still very young. You see it, but it could look different as the season progresses.
  23. Benson gets involved. He is going to be special.
