Against a stacked line in short yardage: When QB is under center - The play is based on timing. The RB runs to line and gets the ball on the way, so you are starting with speed and you hit the hole with momentum. If no hole, the RB might be able to make one, or find a seam, or bounce it outside. The RBs power comes from speed. F=ma. In the shotgun - the qb gets the ball to awaiting RB with no speed or momentum. If no hole you usually lose yards. You literally learn this before high school level football.

I don’t think they get along.

Add Allen to the list of injured. He will likely play through it but he is hurting. Billichek will be looking at this film (digital video files) and Dorsey better have something new planned. The criticism of Diggs is wrong. Diggs is not the problem. We lack a legit #2 receiver. We lack a true slot receiver. Knox is average. Kincaid is a hurt rookie. The RBs are average as in the OL. Allen and Diggs are who the opponent worries about.

I did not enjoy the game. My expectations are high and the Bills offense laid another egg. On offense we have Allen and Diggs and a bunch of mediocre players. Ugly W, but still a W.

I would have to see Savoie play in the NHL. Long term he should be a much better player. Right now he is an unproven rookie.

Don't despair after 2 games. Give it time, lets see were we are at the Holidays. You even said after the first game that some people here were over reacting, don't join them.

Why not? Adams had an entire off-season to add forwards and he didn't make a move other than retaining what he had. If Savoie, or any player in Rochester comes in and makes that line better than that is who you play. It is very possible that one of the prospects in Rochester steps up by mid season, and it happens every year across the league.

Agree that all the lost seasons get numbing. Well, we could have traded Eichel to Anaheim, Arizona, or Columbus instead of a top contender for the Cup if Eichel not winning the Cup was important. It wasn't important, what was important was getting a good return. I think we did considering the circumstances. The Eichel-Sabres relationship was complicated, Eichel treated the Sabres poorly (remember the public negotiations by his agent) and they did the same to him. Eichel was never a saint either. I watched Eichel win last year, and it was in the same year that we finally progressed as a team and played relevant hockey into the last week. I focused on our team getting better, not Eichel. The trade helped both teams. The Eichel chapter is over, I think if you turn that page you will feel better about things. Agree, that this is not the Sabres I grew up with. They are long gone. So is The Aud, Ted and RJ, my 1970 Pontiac, my cassette player, my long wavy hair, ...

So find a team to take our 3 weakest players for a solid NHL defenseman and make sure that player does not have no trade clause too?

What is this?

Or Kulich if he is ready.

I don’t think the sky is falling after 2 games against good veteran teams. As previously stated, we need more from our core. They (Tage, Tuch, Skinner, Dahlin, Cozens) need to get on the scoresheet and be accounted for. Also, our 4th line is old and slow. I suspect we will see some Rochester players later in the season. I thought we played good enough to beat NYI. It was a game were all the close calls went the other way. Clifton is pressing and making mistakes. I still like his physical play, and his willingness to jump into the play in the offensive zone. I still think he can help us. If not, Bryson is your man until R Johnson gets ready. Sound good? Granato will be under a close microscope this year. The talent is there, now the effort and results have to be better. Readiness to play is a valid comment. The preseason was a big giant hockey camp for the Sabres prospects and as a result several players are slow to get up to game speed. On the good side - Eric Johnson looks like a nice addition. Peterka is transforming into a man now. Benson is not afraid to play in this league. Greenway is surprisingly good so far. If I have to hear that Power is not worth $8M for 80 more games then the ignore button will be used. He will make mistakes like all 20 year old defenseman. He will also play at a high level and that play will mostly be taken for granted because expectations are sky high for him. Might I suggest we discuss the strategy of paying Power a long term deal, not a bridge, in the Power Thread and not the game day thread. Goaltending is still, by far, my biggest concern.
