  1. Cozey playing hard. I like this new line.
  2. Cozens passed when he had a wide open screened shot. Ugh
  3. Good evening Teammates, Punch checking in. Big game tonight. Let’s see a continuation of the good hockey they played last season MUSCLE WEIGHT
  4. There definitely is good BBQ in Dallas and in Fort Worth. St Louis is totally underrated for barbeque, Kansas City has good places to (of course). I never think of going for barbeque in Buffalo but there are probably some good places. Was not impressed with barbeque in the North Carolina Triangle metro region. A friend took me to a few places and meh... vinegar/mustardy sauce.
  5. I remember that place, had not thought of it since about 1978. Can't even recall the street it was on?? My Niagara County buddies told me over and over, "its better than Mighty". I think the algorithm is like this: NT -> Woodshed -> Colloso Buffalo -> Gabels -> Mighty Taco
  6. The Mitts line had a bad game versus the Flames, Benson in particular. We really need traffic in front of the opponents net too, the power play is just a perimeter passing game.
  7. True, since the isles are on a B2B playing with the lead is really important. The only problem is when we play the wide open attack is that we also tend to give up breakaways and odd man rushes and then have to count on the goalie to cover these mistakes.
  8. You already know the answer. Cozens is a very good two way player that will one day be a great two way player. He had a slow start playing with VO in the first 2 games. He had the GWG in our only win. He had 2 more points and was +2 against Calgary. The “Cozens isn’t good” narrative is wrong. You can see he is getting more in a grove in the last 2 games.
  9. The 3rd line might actually get 4th line minutes. Peterka has played some good hockey too.
  10. Bensons turn to sit. I’m not surprised after the last game. I like the first two lines in theory. Looking forward to a win tonight.
  11. St Louis won in part because Binington came our of nowhere and stood in his head. He was the key piece
  12. Evander Kane was supposed to be this guy. He caused more chaos off the ice than on it.
  13. Most teams have success building from their goalie and out. A lot depends on whats there when you draft. I never really agreed with the “we can teach defense later” philosophy, defense is a skill of its own, and we need both to be successful.
  14. Thanks Mrs Levi.
  15. Yes, we have 78 more games.
  16. If he plays that many games then we should assume that UPL/Comrie are a not cutting it and the playoffs are not happening. In that case we must find a goalie good enough to share the crease with him.
  17. Calling Duff, Marshall and Goyette right away. Floyd Smith, Reggie Flemming and Jean Guy Talbot cannot carry this load alone.
  18. Well, we wont break Levi because he can go to Rochester if that is what is needed and we can muddle through with UPL and Comrie until a trade can be made. There is no need at all to do the Eichel era sell-off. We can't have a lineup with 24 forwards : Tage-Tuch-Skinner, JJP-Cozens-Quinn, Greenway-Mitts-Benson, Okposso-Jost-Girgensons, Olofsson-Biro-Rousek, Savoie-Kulich-Rosen, Östlund-Kisikov-Nuechev, Kozak-Wahlberg-Murray ,,, The have a plethora of prospects to use in trade for a few pieces like: a goalie, another solid NHL defenseman, another gritty forward.
  19. He played his worst game and yet he kept us in the game. I counted 6 huge saves. If he rests the 5th game he is averaging 80% of the games, or 65 of the 82 - obviously not even close to a sustainable pace. Obvious to some anyway.
  20. On the road they are more relaxed and more filled with team spirit too. There will be no home game sellouts until this teams' play is consistent enough to draw them in. I NEVER thought I would see such poor home attendance in Buffalo - and they (the Sabres) deserve it too. I will refrain from ranting on Pegula, but I hold him accountable for the lack of interest in hockey in what was once a hockey hotbed. The home record is puzzling and it makes me angry. The Flames were in Buffalo on Tuesday for a Thursday game, they wanted to start their road trip off with the win, they have harder games ahead. We should have played a backup, elevated our game for him, and been ready win at home.
  21. I hope so. Everything he said is correct. The game has not changed that much. The Avs did it and they have just as much "speed and skill" type of players as the Sabres, maybe more.
  22. Just trying to coax a few more goals out of Dickie Duff, Donny Marshall, and Phil Goyette.
  23. I think Cozens is a two way player. Slow start this season but I would not say he can't or won't play both ways. Similarly, Tage and Skinner can play both ways, the coach and the system must demand more from everyone. People complain that the team is not big. This year they are top five in both average height and weight. People complain they aren't tough - some of that comes from being an experienced veteran of which we have only a few. This is a slow start because we are not getting production from the top players. Everyone forgets that the rest of the league is no longer surprised by the Sabres. Team focus on Thompson and Dahlin, that means others have to perform and pick up their game. Did Adams do enough in the offseason? - Levi is a 21 year old rookie that was anointed the #1 goalie with 7 games of pro experience - what other GMs do that? - We essentially replaced Quinn with an 18 year old 170 pound rookie and it is pretty sad to see that on most nights the kid has been one of the hardest workers on the ice - EJ is helping but Clifton's mistakes loom large without the Boston team there to help. Joker is still the same. Bryson is our 7. Does this sound like enough? Ok, this is a slow start, we spent the preseason looking at players. It si time for them to wake up and work harder. Lets hope they can right the ship and avoid the losing streaks that we are all to accustomed to seeing.
