Sabres on 7-4 "run" in 2024 lose ground in playoff race
Pimlach replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I feel this is going to be a much too little, way too late story. The team is still flawed. They won’t make the playoffs because the best players are not having a good season and the game day coaching is not good enough. I still want to stay interested, be competitive, and see progress right to the end. After that- Gallant and Berube are out there. The Brind’Amour remote possibility is out there. I want a change at this magnitude and with commitment from TP and KA to let the head coach have a say in the NHL Roster. -
My wife has family with South Buffalo and South Towns roots (West Seneca, Hamburg, etc) . No one, not once, has ever referred to anyone from there as “Southies”. It’s not a WNY thing. Southies is a Boston term, check out the movie Good Will Hunting. Maybe used in Chicago as well.

Nolan was LaFontaine’s choice to coach a rebuilding team and still keep the work ethic high. When Pat quit, Nolan was hung to dry by Murray, the roster was gutted further by Murray - who ironically was another LaFontaine selection. The entire organization was chaos and no one was on the same page back . Don’t blame Nolan for the roster they gave him or for trying to win with it.

He made round 2 twice out of the 3 and he worked a big rebuild in NJ. They were behind Buffalo when he got there. I voted no but I think he can still coach, and probably better than DG, but why not bring him back in a FO Exec/Hockey Operations capacity? Maybe he can help with pro player acquisition, coaching staff, etc. He would add credibility to the staff.

His shot is fine and is not his problem. He has to decide to play meaner and to be stronger physically. Power just showed good strength taking the puck of our zone to end the period. One armed the puck and our skated two guys. Put him in the weight room and get some muscle on that big frame. Then get him mean and partner him up better. I am not close to giving up on a 21 year old defenseman like him. Sure, he is struggling more this year, they all are for numerous reasons.
