Granato says goalies will rotate; Levi learned from the "grind"
Pimlach replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
Maybe Levi is 3rd because they played terrible in front of him? The eye test tells me he is the best of the 3 already, but he certainly needs to be brought into the NHL in a manner with better structure than they showed so far. As far as UPL earning his shot, to me none of them have earned anything - because no one has beaten out a legit NHL goaltender - we haven't even had an NHL goalie here since Ulmark left. So far our goalie position has been one long multi-year tryout with no one in the lead yet. In my view, earning it is when you beat out the guy ahead of you. We have had a vacancy sign up for several years now. -
Not a garage band song

Why do you think he is available? What would he cost?

I started playing guitar again once I retired 2 years ago. I played it when I was young, college and into 30’s, some garage band experience. After that, it was extremely rare that I touched it for 3 decades. It’s coming along. Aided by the free YouTube lessons and cool stuff like looper pedals.

I do like it. Tanev is one of those painful guys to play against. If Dahlin, Power and Muel are healthy then Tanev, EJ, Clifton and Joker can rotate in. Defenseman get hurt. EJ is 35 and will need maintenance days. Power suffers from overload at times. Muel is hurt often. I want 8 reliable defenseman on the team. Our #8 can be in Rochester. Joki and Clifton are playing ok at times - competition for ice will make them better.

EJ is on a 1 year contract, not gonna happen. Dahlin or Tuch is more likely.

Except the Stanley Cup Champions, they ran 4 lines religiously and they still do. Shortening the bench is a sign of lack of depth and lack of trust. It can work at times, but you don’t live by it.

The right forward would help. Not sure who this guy is but we have at least 5 forward slots to improve upon. Accountability has to come from everyone. You don’t trade for it.

I am saddened to say this but I think McD has lost them. The team is not right and seems to be less prepared than their opponent just about every week. Leadership and accountability is not there. So many mental errors and poor execution by players. Questionable game day decisions every week. It was 8 yards. 2nd and 2 vs. 2nd and 10. Certainly not worth the risk of losing your last TO.

On my team you are Spooner. Not Spoonsie, Spoons or Spoonie
-
Actually, it was mostly because of the injury to Muel was early the game. In the Philly game Power and Clifton played about 25 mins the night before. Joker played 21, E Johnson played 19. Dahlin is used to heavy minutes. Not good for a B2B. Playing 7 was smart. As it turns out, Ryan made a big play with that laser beam pass and they got about 15 minutes from the combo of Ryan and Bryson. Very smart. He put an extra load on Tage, Tuch, Skinner and Greenway and they responded.

Under center pass is our strength. Do it with play action and freeze the coverage.

Ryan Johnson called up; Mattias Samuelsson placed on IR

I could. I could do pull-ups and push ups too. Just not sure what it has to do with nick names? note: Sone of us took the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness seriously. -

Good work by Spooner, definitely good food for thought but I am spent on the prospects talk right now. We are ~ 1/8th into the regular season at this time. We are a .500 team that at this point still does not win at home. Our top players are waking up and playing better now. We still really don’t know what we have in the net. We are not getting much from the bottom 6. We still have trouble with teams that play the heavy game and the trap. We started the season with 2 rookies (Levi and Benson), just like last season (JJP/Quinn) - that is enough rookies for me. I have no desire to bring up Kulich, Rosen, or even Ryan Johnson at this time. Let them play a lot of minutes and get stronger and better down in Rochester. I can understand the Benson/Savoie shuffling due to junior hockey constraints keeping them out of the AHL I can understand AHL vets like Biro and Rousek getting their look when our NHL players get dinged. Not all of the young forwards we have in the pipeline are going to make it, or will fit in for that matter. I prefer we look for shorter term veteran help (like in the Erik Johnson vein) to diversify the team and to add some missing and important skills. Playoffs is the goal. It is more important to me that they help “The Core” win than to give 19-20 year olds NHL ice.

Hockey players and coaches like to use nick names. Simple things like adding “ie” or “sie” or “s” or “y” to a part of their name. It a hockey cultural thing starting in youth hockey Tuch - Tuchie Cozens - Cuzzy Dahlin - Dahls Mittelstadt - Mittsie -
You remind me of someone…

Good player but could be an expensive blocker.

Ro Jo is terrible. RyJo is worse. RJ is good, but it’s taken. Guess we will have to call him Ryan Johnson. -
Sometime you gotta because you gotta. Sure he picked the wrong guy but the fact he gives a dam is good. That Flyer series was atrocious hockey.
