John, I agree with quite a bit of this. Blowing it up again is drastic and making huge changes is risky. My one big issue is the coaching staff. I dont see any indication that this coaching staff is up to the NHL level. The team is almost always not ready to play at game time. First period stats tell the story. Adjustments are lacking, the power play being the biggest example of a huge failure with no answers. Another abysmal home record haunts the team and its relationship with the fans. The roster is still way too young and lacks the leadership and accountability to even string 3 good games together. I think DG has reached his max level, and if I owned this team I would ask Adam’s to start looking at everyone and everything to finally take the next to step.

The coaching change was huge. The 2nd bullet, moving out an old star was needed to change the room dynamics and shake things up. The 3rd bullet was to bring the kind of depth guys that the coach wanted/trusts. 4th bullet point is good luck. Pegula and Adams should really be talking to an NHL Veteran coaches about the HC job, and about helping to reshape the roster. I would love to know what Berube or Gallant would offer up to help make this roster better. However, I just don’t see Adams moving on from DG or making big roster moves. He thinks his draft picks will all evolve together into a dynasty.

Not a good take. Loyalty to criminal behavior is not a good trait and loyalty out of fear is not real loyalty. Many Italian/Sicilian Americans had to deal with the stigma created by the real Mafia, and work even harder to overcome it. In today's hypersensitive politically correct world "Bills Mafia" gets a pass. I find that fascinating given all of the other PC bull$hit that is out there. I don't cringe when I hear it anymore like I did years ago, but I won't miss it when it finally dies out.

Beef on Weck is still on the menu of every almost bar and restaurant in the region. Not a niche thing, its everywhere. Wings have the advantage of being on the menu of the pizza and sub restaurants and many of them do not have Beef on Weck, but most bars, restaurants, and diners have it.

It amazes me at the number of medical experts we have here. The 8 weeks is an estimate. It might take longer and it could be less. The season will most likely be over for the Sabres before Quinn is ready. If it is then why rush him? Makes no sense and the last thing he needs is something else to happen.

Being a proud Italian American West Side of Buffalo product I agree. I used to just cringe at it, now it is so nationally accepted, with humorous positive overtones, that I just let it go. It would be offensive to almost any other race or ethnicity but it is ok now? But Mafia is not something nice, and it does not really mean family, as in what we think of as a real family. A fantastic Italian American family tradition that we had in Buffalo was Sunday after church. Get together and enjoy the day of rest, including eating a big meal with extended family in the early afternoon - none of us ever once said its sure great to get the mafia together. This is a manufactured family, a minute fraction of the population, and designed to protect people who do illegal things.

Really, as if the rest of the country cares. The other one that is over played is the pizza. Buffalo style is good, so are many other styles.

Since when did vacations and food become on the same level in the hierarchy of needs? Food is a basic physiological need As I previously stated, I don’t care if they go on vacation or not. Just come back ready to play and be better. The fans quality of posts here has nothing to do with the caliber of play of this team.

The thread needs another music break. Great song by a then teenager, with an amazing backing track too. Influential R&B. Most everything I find on the old 1960’s Tamla / Motown record label is recorded beautifully, and a lot of the songs still hold up today. Best played loud.

They definitely need a break from the game. How they take that break is their business. Together, separate, home or away - does not matter to me one bit. This is not the 60's were they are going to sell cars on their time off because they need money to pay bills. Repair, recover, rest, look at video, train, and get yourselves ready for the final run of the season.

Yes, I catch myself being very frustrated. I will always be a Sabres and Bills fan. Clinging to better days in the past is sometimes helpful, but no Cup on the shelf is a painful. Everything about Pegula's regime has been bad. I certainly don't think he intended for this, and he obviously underestimated what it take to run a successful NHL franchise.

So, if the fan base is broken that includes you and @PASabreFan , correct? I would assume that the more invested the fan, the more pain, and the more likely to break in some way. Some fans cling to the current plan and some reject everything - both are on the extreme defensive moves.

I stopped doing this. I can play GM but it’s no use. The GM we have won’t do it either. I think a few big trades are needed. One that changes the team dynamics and brings in hockey leaders, and not just nice guys who will get along. Some of the top 6 needs to change. You can’t just replace the 4th line and fix things. Goaltending aside, our first and seconds lines, and our 2nd pair defense are the reason we did not improve this season. Get a veteran NHL Coach and listen to him Adams.

I’ll be watching John. Not giving up but I don’t see it happen for the reasons provided. The flaws are dotted throughout the roster. Yes, DG was extended. I am not sure he can get any more than what we have already seen from this group. I much prefer going after Berube, Gallant, Brind’Amour, etc, go get the one Adams can work with. They can bring a winning coach into this organization and let him help shape the roster. This is an opportunity. Drill a well Terry

I feel this is going to be a much too little, way too late story. The team is still flawed. They won’t make the playoffs because the best players are not having a good season and the game day coaching is not good enough. I still want to stay interested, be competitive, and see progress right to the end. After that- Gallant and Berube are out there. The Brind’Amour remote possibility is out there. I want a change at this magnitude and with commitment from TP and KA to let the head coach have a say in the NHL Roster.
