  1. agree. Enough of that now. Move on Adams.
  2. I don't see much happening at the deadline. There will be interest in Zemgus. The off season should be interesting.
  3. SabresSpace Mission Control Center using their new thread locking algorithm
  4. ... and something about the players too. The players should not need a coach breathing down their necks to get it. We have heard enough about Florida to realize its players like Tkachuk, Barkov, and Ekblad, that set the tone. This season showed me enough examples to know that the leadership in the room is not right.
  5. I just want to watch good hockey. Some here want to see them lose because they think it will force the team to move on from DG. I think there is no interest in that from KA/TP brain trust. They are probably not prepared to do a coach search anyway. Win tonight and stay alive Sabres.
  6. I once met a girl from Horseheads ...
  7. Kane - 14 years. 4 teams. Mostly a 20 goal guy, two seasons he hit 30. Toughness that does not translate into good defense or good team play as he is mostly a minus player over that time. Sure, he can fight but I consider him a role player and potentially cancerous in the room. Rick Dudley was a 2nd line player that could fight. Danny Gare could have been 2nd line, but he fit better in the 3rd on our team. Mike Foligno was 1st and 2nd line, he sure could fight. May was a fighter, but 3rd line. After that the glove droppers were mostly lower tier players.
  8. He was asked about what their coach recently said, that they are easy to coach because of the internal leadership. He had to dispute that a little bit, but also added that their roster is filled with leaders and hungry players.
  9. What makes a great pipe dream? Brind'Amour coming to Buffalo. 1. Adams knows him. 2. His contract expires this off season. 3. Buffalo needs a better hockey coach. 4. Terry Pegula is a multi-billionaire that said the reason for this team's existence is to win Cups, and he said he would drill another well if he needed more money to do it.
  10. If we pick him up it should be to work in the FO and help Adams put the roster together and to help Adams find a coach. Not sure he would work for Pegula?
  11. Nothing backfired. The Detroit team did not get anywhere last year but not because of adding vets, they struggled because the young guys are still learning - just like Buffalo did this season. The process of adding players is never a one year thing but you look at their roster and they added a few good vet players on reasonable contracts for reasonable durations.
  12. Mathew Tkachuk. He was interviewed after the game. He has a brother Brady, that plays for Ottawa and now wants out, 3 years into a 7 year $8.2M/yr deal. Matt was asked about winning the closes game he said he never thought they would give up the game tying goal, that the thought never entered his mind. The announcing crew extolled his virtues as a great hockey leader and a great interviewer for those words of wisdom.
  13. Yes, I chuckled about the timing of it. Following in Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid tradition, he should have got a warning first. If he did, and he still kept going then he got what he deserved. It was a stupid thing to do given the score and the time left. He should have done that long ago but not in a one goal game.
  14. Yes, it is a consequence you have to plan for. Can you imagine if the NFL targeted young players? That NHL does so many dumb things to the game. I do not think we lost because of the refs, but I feel the officiating has been shaky for two games. We got lucky on the hand pass against Carolina, only to have to pay for it the rest of the game with penalties and non calls going the other way. Last night we got the extra 2 on the scrum started by Florida - they scored. Then we got the late Benson trip right after they ignore that he was held, plus the Donny outburst to give the 5 on 3 - they scored again. I know when I watch the NHL that the officiating is going to be like the WWF, with inconsistent and unexplainable calls and non calls, and favoritism toward the best players while the "young players" get targeted. You have to plan for it.
  15. Did you see Matt's interview last night?
  16. Philly is a team rallying around their coach, proving that the sum of the parts is worth more than the induvial. Probably not sustainable as this roster sits, a few key guys have a bad year and/or they get tired of Torts, and they will fall back to the bottom. Detroit is real. They added a several key vets over the course of the last 2 seasons to their young talent and they are on their way. They did what Buffalo won't do, and they will most likely actively tweak their roster again this off season. Their young players are getting a helpful environment to grow up in.
  17. So you guy all want Brady Tkachuk for the next 4 years at $8.2M???? In year 5 he will be gone, and if we cannot get this team to Cup contending status in 2 years he will be a miserable distraction in Buffalo (aka Hockey Hell). His family is hell bent on getting him and his brother together someday, or getting him to St Louis (home), or another contending team. This guy is a huge prima donna. Figures he is not wanting to finish the contract he signed with Ottawa.
  18. Add Mikkola to the list. He is a dirty player. A very big guy that starts a lot of $hit, usually with smaller players, and then skates away. His trip was deliberate and dangerous and could have been a double minor. No wonder Tanner Jeannot recently beat the hell out of him.
  19. Brady is not Matt. Matt is an arrogant prick that knows how to control himself and play his game. Brady is an arrogant prick that does not.
  20. The Crusade against Tuch on this board is getting ridiculous. We want bigger guys, when we get one, half the board here complains about them. They do the same with Greenway and with Zemgus. There is no 1970's hockey being played anywhere in the NHL.
  21. I guess the fancy stats will tell us, but I think Tuch has played more minutes with Mitts than he has with Tage this season. The "first line" of Skinner-Tage-Tuch should really be finished as a line. They no longer work together. But what other line can handle Skinner the floater? Tage wants to be set up to shoot, if no one is doing that then he does it all himself, or tries too. All Skinner can do is shoot, and Tuch has to try to figure out this mess. This "first line" is a one big reason we started poorly. The degradation of the first line, the injury to Quinn, and the 3 headed goalie monster - DG never got them on ready or on track. Injuries, slow starts, just not ready to play. The team has been playing better since UPL emerged, he gives then a chance. If the team was scoring and had an average PP, they would be in the thick of the wildcard race.
  22. Tuch played hard tonight. I don’t know what your watching.
  23. How was UPL not one of 3 Stars. Southern expansion franchises have no history on how to do this.
