So far, this trade made a bigger hole than what it filled. I think more acquisitions must happen. We need two more centers. A 4C and a 2/3C. I do not see our prospects pool having NHL ready centers next season. Our defense with EJ out, and Byram in, just got younger Bo Dahlin Power Muel Johnson Clifton Joker Bryson.
-
Unless, more trades are coming …
-
Ok. Except the top 2 centers that are locked up are both playing worse than Casey, who is our best all around forward. Did this trade make the Sabres better? I would say not by itself. More moves are required. Their Defense has high pedigree, but might lack diversity in the roles needed to be successful.

I know you are joking, but has it got this bad?

I missed the game. I read the thread. Glad I missed this one. It sounds like we wasted another good game by UPL We need more NHL FORWARDS. Not less. -
In the limited time I’ve seen him play he seems more like a Zemgus (without the physical size) than a Mitts .
-
Good. Why are they trading him two years later straight up for Mitts?
-
Who says he is top 4? We don’t know yet. Does he compliment the top 4 we have? Who does he replace at LHD? Will someone be traded? I am not sure we need him as much as we needed the guy we traded away. More moves must be coming.
-
We don’t know how good he is, or how good he will be. So if we are trying to improve now then maybe this is not the right guy. We have 23 year old Dahlin, 21 year old Power. We have Johnson. We locked up Power and Dahlin for big dollars. - 22 years old - 190 ish pound defender - the Avs moving on from him - we lost our best 2way center to get him. Looks like a development project, I want to win now. We have enough youth already.
-
Casey was panned because the team sucked and he was rushed into the NHL. He got better after his stint in Rochester, no surprise. There is no proof that Byram is a better player, his draft status of 4OA means nothing. If he was showing anything to indicate he was a special player he would not have been traded. He is a smallish defender who’s game is similar to Joker, and Johnson, and even Dahlin. He brings nothing different. He is not the missing link - a RHD, a big tough stay at home defenseman that we lack. He will not punish opponents who hang out in front of our net. The trade took away our best 2way center, that can contribute on the PP, and the first line. We now have another defenseman who is like the others we already have. Unless they trade Joker or Power or Johnson we just added another of the same. No diversity in their game. By trading Mitts for this guy we created another hole related to the type of players that this roster needs. Maybe another deal is coming.

That’s 3 top pairing dmen. Why are the Avs giving up on him?
-
Sabres development process: 1. Rush him into the line up. 2. Live with his mistakes because he is young 3. Once he gets to prime age trade him because he said he wants to leave.
-
Good summary. If he goes I do not think they should bring him back either, despite all you said. Find the elusive "vet in their prime that wants to be here" and upgrade the roster. That should be Adams top priority.
-
Good riddance to the era, not to Kyle. Seems like a real good guy and he was a good soldier - just didn't like the team reaction to the booing when it was easy to understand and explain. Best wishes whatever happens. To be honest, I still don't think he is leaving.

I an heading out on travel, might be able to catch some of it tonight. Beating he Leaves is always a must win. We need a good start n the road. Come out ready to go. So I will say Muscle Weight. -
This is intense. I enjoyed reading it.

I like Parayko but this proposal it too rich for me. Muel's upside could possibly be Parayko, then you give two 1's. Very common here to think we have to give up so much. Murrayitis I guess.

Watch the replay. Who looks for a confrontation after disabling someone with a hit from behind? He quietly skulked away like a kid who got away with something. Coward move. You guys defending it surprise me. No it does not. Not like that.

Leaning toward Levi as the starter was a big problem, and it was actually very stupid, and it was surprising that an NHL goalie was not brought in. Adams is doing the exact opposite of what Yzerman said about developing prospects - someone who actually did it and won in Tampa, and Tampa is still winning with his core. He said you DO NOT give your prospects NHL jobs until the earn them by beating out an NHL player. We have not had an NHL #1 goalie since Ulmark left. This season, with no veteran brought in, either UPL or Levi was going to get the job by default, but Adams kept Comnie around just because he is a nice guy I guess, all that did was clog things up and continue the regular season tryout fiasco. You have to be a fool to think that Levi was going from NCAA to NHL #1 goalie after just 7 professional games, and to publicly proclaim you are "all in" on making the playoffs make him a bigger fool. That is exactly what Adams is, and that is just one reason the season was ruined before it started. Adams is LUCKY that UPL emerged because UPL's play in both the AHL and NHL was inconsistent and often mediocre - and that level of play can revisit at any time. Want another sobering thought? UPL has been the BEST goalie in the NHL since January, and his team has fallen even further behind in the playoff race. That should tell you how many more holes and issues there are with this team - The roster and the coaching staff both need fix'in. You can defend Adams all you want, but he is the main reason this team is once again on the outside looking in.
-
I would respect a face to face confrontation and then drop them. A slash to the boot when behind him, and then quietly skate away is the act of a coward, it was in the 1960-70's and it still is.
-
The problem with the bold is that Terry loves Adams, and he fired Lindy. Lindy is looking at the worst hockey organization in NHL history in Buffalo, all since he left, and he knows exactly why. Lindy is a Sabres - he played there, coached there, he showed passion in his work making him very popular, and he was a huge part of the community for a long time. Think he has any reason to respect Terry? Think Terry would not sense that? Lindy cannot waltz in and be Beane, Adams already is. Lindy cannot be POHO, Adams is the guy Terry wants to talk to , with no one in between.
-
I lost all respect for Scheifele for that. He knew exactly what part of the boot to hit to injure him, he could have slashed him in the shin guards to make a point, but he tried to injure. And he did it nonchalantly to keep it under the radar from the refs. He did it because Dahlin threw two big time reverse checks on that shift and flattened a few Jets. Scheifele is no tough guy, he has a few fights and he always gets destroyed. I hope Dahlin takes him on in the next meeting.

You want the Broad Street Bullies from the 1970's. They are long gone.
