Trade: C Ryan McLeod - Oilers for Matt Savoie

All true. I can see him as a late bloomer with a long career. -
He is young enough to have had a Buzz Lightyear toy.
-
Eventually yes, his last year with the Isles was his highest PIM in a season. He definitely got meaner with age and confidence.

You data translates into what i see. Quinn needs to shoot more. Kulich is firing the puck like crazy and he is helping his line. Quinn is either passing up chances or thinking to long. His role is to score goals, he can also create - but that should be secondary to him.

Brian Wilson making Good Vibration at Capitols Records Studio. Conducting the session drummer, making multi-layered vocal arrangements - there were more voices than tracks to record on back then. Good Vibrations!

You can say it. Lets see if he can do it. I see him starting the year in Rochester. After that, its up to him.
-
I hope not. That means veterans like Zucker and Greenway are gone and more reliance on developing kids in the NHL. A bad habit for this team that needs to end. He has to prove he belongs in NHL.
-
So Rochester next season then.

I am sticking to looking closer at Lindy and the team after 20-25 games. Yesterday they showed they can play NHL hockey, now it is a matter of being consistent and hard nosed about it.

This happens all the time over the decades of watching hockey. I doubt that the old powder blue Pittsburgh Penguins knew that Rene Robert would score 40 goals and 100 points either. -

If McLoed helps get us to a playoff berth after 13 years of pain then the trade accomplished something. If Savioe become a star and the prospects that we kept do not, then that will be debated for years to come, but you have to do something to help the team right now. There is no doubt today that Savoie is not NHL ready right now and that Kulich appears to be showing us that he is. -
That will impact your guitar playing.

I had to dress for school and church. For Sabres games I wore jeans and whatever. When I was old enough to drive I always got the New Years Eve games and I got to take my GF into the Aud Club. I had to dress up to go into the Aud Club, jacket and tie required.

Savoie may end up being a very good NHL player someday - and so might Cozens, Quinn, Kulich, Östlund, Benson, Rosen, Wahlberg, and Helenius. But we cannot play all of them on the same roster. The trade of Savoie for McLoed was to get better right now, and pave the way for better development of these younger players in the future. The Savoie trade is about the next 2 years for Buffalo. For Edmonton they have a future piece that might be a good one. -
I did a double take on the Mutton Chops guy. Looks like this guy, from the exact same era.

centerpiece of the Eichel trade? -
Whenever I see the crowds from the old eras I see people tended to dressed better in social settings (within the fashion constraints of the times) and there was far less obesity. Our food wasn’t contaminated like it is today.

Chars was a banger and a physical brute from day 1. He got much better when he became a smarter player.

He was playing poorly before that fight. The fight is not the problem. His decision making is the problem. His decision to pick that fight is a prime example of a poor decision. I think the biggest problem for Cozens is the Buffalo Sabres and their recent way of doing things. They rushed him and the expectations are just too high too fast for him. A rookie GM and a rookie coach tossed him out there with two other rookies, and the coach said stop thinking, just attack on offense. He had a great offensive year, but no real NHL coach is ever going to let him play like that again. The Sabres then signed him to an albatross of a contract and now he puts even more pressure on himself. He is consistently being asked to do more than he can maintain. It didn’t take Ruff long to reduce his TOI, which is smart. Give him 3rd line minutes and simplify things for him and he will get more confident and better. He also still needs to get physically stronger but most of his problem right now is confidence and workload. I’m afraid that Quinn has hit a similar wall. He looks lost, is overthinking and overpassing, and he just not the same player in Ruff’s NHL system. The Sabres tossed several very young players into prominent roles, without proper coaching and veteran support, and they played an undisciplined system under Granato. They learned wrong. Some of them have a case of PTSD from it. This can be fixed over time by giving them more realistic roles on the team. The Dallas game actually looked like NHL hockey is returning to Buffalo.

I hope so. It is really all up to Power to add a physical side to his game.

If they can come together and continue to play at the level of the first 2 periods they could make some noise.
