  1. Adam’s is NOT turning over every stone and he is still operating under $$$ constraints. Get that straight first and foremost. When the player and agent side says we never talked, then I believe that they never talked. Whatever scenario you want to dream on how that happened, it really does not matter. Adams lied (exaggerated) about the veteran coaching search too. He never talked to Berube, McClellan, or Gallant either. He had one “veteran coach” in mind.
  2. Nothing I saw so far says that trading Mitts for Byram upgraded this team. After 3 games Byram became just a fancy version of Joker. I still don’t see how we can pay Byram the kind of dollars Power is getting. Assuming they think Byram is at that level, which so far I don’t. Byram starts with a clean slate under Ruff. I’m watching.
  3. But he didn’t get $7M, he got a reasonable contract that Buffalo could have easily paid. But Buffalo never talked to him. Which is a really big reason to question if Adams has a clue.
  4. We already had the 3rd line center who was capable and skilled enough to move up to 2 or 1. We will see how good Byram actually is this season, if he is really good then signing him will be the next challenge. Seems like a roundabout way to build when what we really needed is a stay at home RHD. We have puck movers (Dahlin, Power, Joker, Johnson).
  5. I will always like Lindy and he is an upgrade to DG. I did NOT like the “coaching search”. Very amateurish overall. This is a hire the guy you know to placate the masses, and then set up your AHL guy to take over. This is as much about getting Appert ready. Lindy didn’t bring in a staff. If Lindy still has it, it might work out. These “return to the glory years” type of hires rarely do work out though.
  6. Good (for Adams), but incomplete. Not sure we are a playoff team, still need to see the Lindy impact, and everything still hinges on “the Core” and UPL.
  7. What is wrong with Chautauqua? Beautiful place, excellent venue, and people are people. Wasn't the attack on Rushdie at Chautauqua coincidental to Chautauqua? Hegemony? Why do you bring this up. This is a concert, not a world war? I am lost with this post. Were you unprepared because because you were concerned about socio-political things instead of preparing to hear good music? @That Aud Smell, Poor grammar aside, this reads like another language. So much labeling and stereotyping. Not at all what art/music is supposed to be about. This is concert thread. Who are you going to see and how was the show - Why can't it be that simple?
  8. Dream about the Sabres? Uh no.
  9. Sure, and also working working on his diet to feed that kind of muscle gain. Just look at him now and compare to his draft day interview. He really is growing fast. They said he speaks 5 languages too. Hopefully the college environment keeps him focused.
  10. Just read that Max Strbak is up to 205 lbs going into sophomore season at Michigan State (NCAA). Could be a good shut down defenseman someday.
  11. Rick Martin was on pace for a 500+ career goals, and a Hall of Fame career. What if, he never got injured?
  12. Awesome: seeing the grandbaby. Not awesome at all: Houston in August (or March, April, May, June, July, September and October). I just don't really understand how 7M+ people can live there?
  13. If Tage gets back to 40+ goals and 90+ points he is ahead of many in your list and then how do you not take him?
  14. This could be the most descriptive whiskey review I have ever read. Quit your day job and get down to the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky.
  15. I really like all kinds of Single Malt Scotches but now, in the past two years I have been drinking Bourbon's quite a bit as well. Maybe that is why I make so many typos in the GDT's? My current staple is Woodford Reserve but there are many others up there with it. There are lower priced bourbons (Four Roses and Jim Beam to name a few) that are also good. Keep moderation in mind and sip slowly.
  16. Mayor Sedita could be the grey haired guy way in the back
  17. Tall guy behind the balding white haired guy.
  18. I attended many home games in the 70's and it seemed like Meehan/ Lorentz /and whoever (McNab/ Dudley/etc) played the second shift a lot. Obviously the Gare/Luce/Ramsay line played 2nd line minutes, Luce and Rammer killed penalties too, and Gare played PP, so that broke up the rotation quite a bit. Especially at home with the final line change, Luce's line would be called upon to shut down the other teams top line, adding minutes to their workload. Whatever it was called, they were excellent.
  19. Yes, there are 8, and a lot of dead people. Clarence Campbell is one of the 8, good catch. I want to say that Freddie Hunt is one of them (he was the AGM and the Cinci Swords GM) but none of them look like him at all. Those sisters were really something back in the day. And Peg was lovely, I do believe she had a wooden leg?
  20. Yes, my question was rhetorical because Ramsay is one of the Sabres all time leaders in games played, and he was technically by todays terms on the 3rd line, even though that line got lots of minutes.
  21. Agree that by quality with were top 6 by todays standards, and even as 3rd liners for those strong Sabres teams, they logged a lot of minutes. More on Ramsay. He played for 7 seasons before they had a Selke Trophy or he would have had a few more. He was every bit as good as Gainey who got a lot more notoriety playing on Five Cup winning teams in Montreal. Ramsey scored more career goals and had 171 more career points while playing 90 less games. Both were ironmen, Ramsay did not miss a game for over 10 seasons.
  22. Are Luce and Ramsay considered bottom six? They were 3rd line players and first line PK. They played a lot of shut down minutes. In the 70’s we did not talk in terms of bottom 6, top 6.
  23. Yes. And Northrop Knox, Robert Swados, Rick Azar (channel 7 eyewitness sports) and tbd.
  24. Can you name the people in this photo?
  25. Well, today was a rough one. Ouch. The RBs accounted for 36 yard on 19 carries. I don't care if it was mostly 3rd string, they played against 3rd string too. Not worried, but the offense needs to get their game going in the next one.
