  1. I attended many home games in the 70's and it seemed like Meehan/ Lorentz /and whoever (McNab/ Dudley/etc) played the second shift a lot. Obviously the Gare/Luce/Ramsay line played 2nd line minutes, Luce and Rammer killed penalties too, and Gare played PP, so that broke up the rotation quite a bit. Especially at home with the final line change, Luce's line would be called upon to shut down the other teams top line, adding minutes to their workload. Whatever it was called, they were excellent.
  2. Yes, there are 8, and a lot of dead people. Clarence Campbell is one of the 8, good catch. I want to say that Freddie Hunt is one of them (he was the AGM and the Cinci Swords GM) but none of them look like him at all. Those sisters were really something back in the day. And Peg was lovely, I do believe she had a wooden leg?
  3. Yes, my question was rhetorical because Ramsay is one of the Sabres all time leaders in games played, and he was technically by todays terms on the 3rd line, even though that line got lots of minutes.
  4. Agree that by quality with were top 6 by todays standards, and even as 3rd liners for those strong Sabres teams, they logged a lot of minutes. More on Ramsay. He played for 7 seasons before they had a Selke Trophy or he would have had a few more. He was every bit as good as Gainey who got a lot more notoriety playing on Five Cup winning teams in Montreal. Ramsey scored more career goals and had 171 more career points while playing 90 less games. Both were ironmen, Ramsay did not miss a game for over 10 seasons.
  5. Are Luce and Ramsay considered bottom six? They were 3rd line players and first line PK. They played a lot of shut down minutes. In the 70’s we did not talk in terms of bottom 6, top 6.
  6. Yes. And Northrop Knox, Robert Swados, Rick Azar (channel 7 eyewitness sports) and tbd.
  7. Can you name the people in this photo?
  8. Well, today was a rough one. Ouch. The RBs accounted for 36 yard on 19 carries. I don't care if it was mostly 3rd string, they played against 3rd string too. Not worried, but the offense needs to get their game going in the next one.
  9. It does not appear to be from a glen.
  10. Last season there was an opportunity for Rousek to come in and take a 4th line spot. He didn't rise to the occasion.
  11. 5'11" or 6' is not much of a factor. I would like to see him continue to get stronger and get his weight up to 185 someday.
  12. Agree. It is hard enough to fill certain jobs and we don't need mean people harassing the workers. The Home Depot supervisor, since he heard what was happening, should have helped this girl with a difficult customer. That is what a leader, as opposed to a manager, would do. I see this kind of situation happen all the time. People harassing young workers or older workers at stores and restaurants. I cannot stand bullies that prey on easy targets. Good for you for stepping in.
  13. Being young and talented is not a problem if they have players on the roster that will support them and help keep them from being intimidated. Helenius (14th overall 2024), Östlund (16th 2022), Kulich (28th 2022), Rosen (20th 2021), Wahlberg (39th 2023), Johnson (31st 2019), Komarov (134th 2022), Novikov (188th 2021) - this is a lot talent.
  14. There are a lot of young draftees for sure. Are the vets the kind that will help them survive on the rugged AHL?
  15. I saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Four times now. Always excellent too. Opening act was Margo Price and she was also excellent.
  16. Lets not joke about that. Certainly it an older coat that fits. On the positive side at 76 Duds is still physically fit and still smart enough to hold a job as a consultant to a Cup winning organization.
  17. bring me back some Elbonian beer please. I will pay you handsomely in Elbonian Bucks.
  18. They were simply way over rated last year by getting 8th place. They were way under the cap and they added little in the off season. You can rate Adams for his 4 years and it would have to be bottom 20 percent of the league. Hands tied or not, he has not done enough. Hopefully this year he has, finally.
  19. Did you ever try planks? You can do them daily in just a few minutes. When done correctly they work your abs and your entire core, plus shoulders and just about everything. I am up to 40 seconds times 3 sets - I do them everyday after stretching, somedays I am stiff and feel old (which I am) so I cut back to 10 or 20 seconds just to warm up better, then I go for 40 seconds. Warm up and mental focus is important to do them correctly. I use my iphone timer to help me. I was in Buffalo for 5 weeks with no gym and no weights. So I did this workout every other day, it starts with stretching and some yoga moves. Then planks, crunches, leg lifts, pushups, lunges, squats, and butt raises. Repeat 3 times. After that stretch again. It takes me about 30 minutes to do this at home or in a hotel room for that matter. The results have been very good and I feel much stronger and leaner. I came back from Buffalo with no weight gained and feeling like I made more progress - no gym, no weights, just simple exercises. Just hold this pose for X seconds, form is important. Not moving your butt or shaking during the move is important. Rest for about X seconds, repeat 3 or 4 times. X will increase each week, even if you can only add a few seconds to X, you will get better. Even if you start out at 3 or 5 seconds, go for it! In a few weeks you will be surprised. Your shoulders might hold you back a bit at first, but they will strengthen, so just press on with them and the gains will happen.
  20. Seems like almost every Olympics has some controversy. I can remember the '68 protests and the '72 shootings. Then '76 had the East German women doping. Follow by the US boycott in '80 and Soviet Block Boycott in '84. This year it was the opening ceremony and the woman's boxing situation. The games are fun to watch but it seem impossible to take politics and the human condition completely out of it.
  21. I think both McLeod and Lafferty can play both, so can Krebs.
  22. ^ A voice of reason. Some people here are posting to trade Krebs and/or Greenway, which essentially takes away any NHL level depth we have. It's one thing to trade one of them if we get an NHL forward in return, but there is no sense in trading them just to make room for prospects. We have prospects in Rochester that will see some NHL ice, but I prefer to see them advance past the NHL roster guys before we hand them NHL jobs. Ruff will use his entire roster. If a forward is not working, then the 13th forward (likely to be Krebs) will get ice. Having guys that can play center and wing is valuable.
  23. Isn't Benson ineligible to play in the AHL due to his age? He does not turn 20 until next May. So if Benson struggles, what do they do to keep him playing and developing?
  24. Jack Hughes is a different player, in a different position and with a different role.
