I wish I could say you are wrong. I really am hopeful that this is the year they snap the non-playoff streak. They will really need the stars to all align for it to happen. Pretty soon the franchise could reach a value of 1 billion, maybe Terry cashes out then?

At first read this reminded me of the Jacques Richard reclamation project attempt in 1976.

This is very interesting. I just had my second full knee replacement in January 2024 (the first knee was in Jan 2018). It was almost 100% bone on bone. I was surviving on gel shots for the past two years. The recovery has been good. I was putting weight on it immediately and walking without help of a walker or a cane in about 2 weeks. I golfed 18 holes after the 8th week of PT. I still do some PT on it at home, lots of stretching (bending and straightening of leg to get range of motion), plus working all the leg muscles with weight training. Never heard of Conformis and I doubt I was a candidate. I have the full replacement, they kept the original patella and all the ACL, MCL, stuff. No more hockey for me. Too risky. I could hockey skate ever since I was kid. Was pretty good too, for learning on my own, no money to take lessons or go to hockey camps. Learned on ponds and local rinks and from playing (coaches and other players taught me the techniques and drills). Not gonna risk these knees playing hockey which is a shame because I am in good physical shape to play non check men's league hockey.

Could be a late bloomer if he reacts positively to Ruff. There are lots of prospects in the organization, he could be packaged in a trade and bloom somewhere else.

Very old thread. Did @PASabreFan ever learn to skate and master the hockey stop (both directions)? Is he now a men's league enforcer down in Erie, Pa?

This about sums it up. And a great coach will put that balanced and talented team in a position to best utilize their skills. That is real coaching, not copy the style of the latest Cup winner with the wrong horses to do it.

Yeah, kind of all of it. Seems very subjective to collect meaningful data for one. Some of this depends to some extent by how a player is used and who they play with. But thanks for providing, it is something else to ponder until we get the season started.

So its about hoping and guessing?

Ryan Johnson is 3rd closest to playing in the NHL right now, right after (1) Benson and (2) Levi. I cannot say what his ceiling is, at least a 5-6 guy I would suspect, but he is far more ready than the 6 players you have ranked above him.
-
Sure, they are basically conducting a skills camp, nothing more. Dahlin's father is a hockey coach in Sweden. He can run a skills practice and so can JJP's ex-coach. They are probably just as qualified to run a skills practice as a guy like Matty Ellis. The Costanza reference was good though.
-
Not after last season when he was a head case. He wants to lead, but he is not ready yet.

I assumed from your first post that he was a kid in the neighborhood that you know. This has gone on too long. File a report with the police. Include the video.

Still stickling on the fine details of the thread title? It’s time for you to graduate.

Complaints on social media/Facebook, parents defending their babies and without knowledge of what’s really happening, sounds like today’s world alright. Some people are just terrible parents because they won’t have the hard conversations with their kids.
-
Why was the father involved at all? Why not talk to the young man directly? Treat him like a man and he might decide to act like one.

Good information. Defensive scoring could go up if Byram shoots more, and if Power’s shot gets better. Both could get better. Some players will shoot better, for example I assume 19 year old Benson has worked on improving his shot. So we will need several players to score over their career averages again, like Thompson, Tuch and Cozens did two years ago.

An old saying was “it takes a village to raise a kid”. If that was me as the kid, I have no doubt more than a few of my neighbors would have talked to me about my driving speed and the risks. That would have been enough to get my attention and for me to correct myself. I realize today things are different and parents defend their little angels. Lawsuits, distrust of police and of authority in general, guns and violence, petty arguments, it’s out there everyday. Talk to the boy like he is a man. Explain the situation. He just might get it. Do it right and you could be helping him and the entire community.

No way am I hung up on the "big trade or a medium trade" jargon. The Sabres had a massive hole to fill with Mitts gone. Krebs showed us he is not ready for 3C. Neither are any of the prospects so far. Acquiring McLeod was big for this team, if people think that is a bad reflection on the team I won't argue that. Savoie is not yet a top 6. He could be a star with the Oilers someday, or he could be a Tyler Ennis type of player, but the Sabres were strapped with a need for a veteran center and McLeod was the best Adams could do at this time.

The Mitts-Byram deadline trade was a big one IMO. The McLeod trade was important to replenish the center spline and trading a 7OA 9OA top prospect is no small matter. The thread title may not be to your liking but the topic of "Mitts and Savoie vs Byram and McLeod" is certainly a good off season discussion. I can't wait to see what Lindy does with this group. No nodding of for me. Muscle Weight!

Ok fellow old fella', 1. Malenstyn acquired for a 2nd rounder in trade 2. McLeod and Tullio (AHL) for Savoie Zucker, Abe-Kubel, Lafferty were FA signings. Much of the discussion is the deadline trade, Bryam for Mitts. McLeod is the finishing portion of that trade since we got a center back. Evaluate: Mitts and Savoie vs Byram and McLeod. Are we better?

Good luck on the rehab. Not to make light of the situation but on the humorous side, the Alfredson Protocal and the Ultrasound Shockwave Machine sound like things from the Bat Cave, circa mid-60's Batman and Robin.
