  1. hecht injury? did he just go to get stitches, or is there a bigger problem?
  2. so, any blind speculation as to the tallinder injury? it seemed like he was hit with a puck on the bench after he took that big hit. i hope its not serious.
  3. you know, i'm not really in the fanfair of this whole record thing... I don't think the sabres are either. upon the reflection of the day, unless something drastic happens, it will be just another day at the office. I'll stand by my original prediction of 3-0.
  4. 7:30pm its Ted Nolan vs. Lindy Ruff... its Zhitnik and Miro out to maybe prove a point against Lindy and Darcy... eh? who cares.... i'm more concerned if the sabres play like its a letdown game (which it is) or if they whoop a lesser team (which they are capable of doing). These types of games are what defines a team from being on a hot streak to being legit contenders. We all know that the sabres have been known to play down to their competition in the past. I Think they may have excersized those demons last year, but it would be nice to keep it going... I'm making a bold prediction of 3-0 tonight with miller getting his first shutout. I hated the defensive play against les guanentees in the third, but i loved the attitude that tallinder and lydman gave after the game regarding their play. time for them to make amends and get ryan his shutout, one game later. And as for that nolan vs. ruff thing, that's so not even an issue.
  5. i'm not too concerned about the islanders... its 10 years later, but i'm sure lindy would like to beat nolan, and i'm sure nolan would LOVE to beat the sabres... its at least a good motivational tactic.
  6. briere was back on the ice towards the end of the game... kotalik was not though... although he did stay on the bench and come off to congratuate miller afterwards. maybe an injury would get paille to see what he has...
  7. i was a little worried with the 1st period, because it appeared that the canadiens were skating with us... after 2, the sabres are slowly sucking the life out of them. This team is so dominant not because of their quick strike ability but because of their closing ability. Lets see if they can keep up the gameplan and possibly cash in on that PP on the fresh ice.
  8. will the sabres set a franchise record tomorrow night? will they come within one win of tying the league record? will the canadiens rally around niinamaa's words? will his words be on the visitors locker room bulletin board by tomorrow? my vote, yes... sabres 4 habs 1
  9. montreal's gonna be out for us no matter what, after that last game! remember, they were absolutely dominating till we got that lucky bounce. they're going to be pissed. however, the sabres are the best team right now, so they're not exactly going to roll over... as for tonight's game, again, they come out slow and sloppy but turn the game around. I'm glad that the power play is clicking on all 8, and they're not taking too many penalties... two major concerns in the first couple weeks of the season, both seemed very m uch fixed tonight. Drury's really on fire... is there a game where vanek won't score? was briere's scoring streak broken? i don't think he got an assist tonight... anyhow, great evening, now lets close out the pats tomorrow afternoon! edit: briere had an assist...
  10. decent 2nd period... hopefully they can hold it together for the 3rd... glad the NESN guys aren't as bad as last year... looks like jack edwards was replaced with that other chowderhead
  11. yes, marty should definitely get the start. You never want to ride one guy if you have a capable backup... keeps everyone fresh. Someone else mentioned it about a week ago that miller never really looks spectacular because his positioning is so good. every shot seems to look routine. miller is a great goalie, but he needs to sit tonight... it will keep the entire team fresh. they always seem to play extra gritty when marty is put in for a game.
  12. say what you want about the season mckee had last year, but the guy was TOAST after that hit in the 2001 playoffs on mario lemieux.
  13. 7:00pm a trip to boston is extra fun with playoff chump/B's captain zdeno chara anchoring the defense. How will the sabres do on a night's rest after pretty much a very bad game save the final score? who's got the start in goal? will teppo's groin hold up, or do we get paesch? will jack edwards show the money and put another hit out for danny briere? stay tuned... go to wgr550.com to get the audio, and come to our chatroom!
  14. damn... after a really sloppy start, and a hairy finish with some bad calls inbetween, the sabres come out on top 5-4. With the lucky bounces and the new england patriots discount on that diving penalty, it really should have been 5-4 canes. as another poster said above, there's not a picture of this game in the standings, its just a W and 2 points. glad to have won it in regulation, and honestly, i'm glad they won it sloppy... it goes to show you that hard work and focus gets you 9-1. crappy defense and piss poor transition work gets you a nailbiter that could have gone the other way. hope we keep it up tomorrow... GO SABRES we play boston... i'd love to start a new thread, but i won't... this is an announcer rant. I had the canes feed, and i'll tell you what... those guys (peter something and tripp tracy) are a bunch of homer cheerleader losers (not to mention the highly gaydar focusing hilights that tracy has in his hair). These guys really contribute to the ignorance of the casual hockey fan. They described the hooking call in briere as a hook when the guy puts his stick between the other guy's legs. period... then, one of their butt boys does it to drury and they say "marginal... its up to the ref's interpretation". they also botched that roy "dive" as well. I really hate to be a homer, but we have the best announcers in the league. Sure, they're sabres homers, and focus their talks on the sabres, but they don't prop the sabres up at the expense of whatever the opponent of the night is. if the sabres get away with a call, lorentz will call him out on it... they won't back down or throw it on the refs or the other team's "creativity". its just a bunch of BS, those canes announcers... so... back to the boston game... anyone ready for NESN?
  15. gametime: 8:00pm join us here before, during and after the game for some talk on the play. also, we'll be in the chatroom. as for the game... letdown after tuesday's murder? i doubt it, but you never know... The sabres will want to beat the hurricanes at home, and prove that they're not going to let up. This is an important game for both teams, as the hurricanes look to get revenge for one of their banner celebration nights being tarnished... the sabres look to keep on truckin against playoff teams. my prediction? sabres 4 carolina 3

  20. its like shooting beach balls! haha... nice mic job on danny briere! 7-1
  21. robert esche has lost it! he's flipped his lid!
  22. some of you were questioning the chat room earlier... i'm in there now without any problems... so, if anyone's interested...
  23. i'll try to log on... i think a lot of the emptiness has to do with the buffalo storm situation... a lot of us lost power...
  24. don't have much to say tonight about the game besides the fact that it was great. now 3 days off before we meet the moustachless capt. ken hitchcock and the flying umbergers.
  25. i can't wait to see the 3000 fans in attendance who brought toothbrushes and shampoo to the game with them!
