  1. 8pm ok boys, after the rangers game its time to head to HSBC south, aka the verizon center in DC. There'll be tons of sabres fans, lydman hecht and possibly roy will be ready to go again, and barring any NEW injury, all will be well for this game. Ovechkin vs. Campbell is one matchup i'm really looking forward to. Also, does biron get to start in this one? there was a 4 day break for the guys, so i know miller could go 2 in a row, however, i'm guessing that biron will play, just to keep him in the rotation. With that said, i'll be in DC with a few other members of SabreSpace. If you're going, good luck with your travels, and i look foward to potentially putting a face to a username, or gawking at a username's wife... always a better option... Anyways, hide the women and children, because buffalo is invading DC. I won't be able to unpin these game threads, so feel free to post as much as you want to both of them (this one and the rangers one). i'll be back on sunday to clean up your mess. Also, the chatroom is always open, so use that if you want. Go Sabres!!
  2. 7:30pm its gametime for lydman, hecht, and possibly roy (although he's listed as "questionable" for now. i suspect he'll be back after the weekend games.) What do i see? well, probably a lower scoring game than most would expect... The new line combos will need time to develop. However, i see a more SOUND defensive game with ruff being able to rotate 3 D pairings of 6 rather than a mismash of 5. I'll tell you, i'm really looking forward to the day when tallinder comes back. paetsch has more than proven himself to fill in for numinnen for a few games. that dude really needs a break. With that said, the game can go either way... 2-1? 9-2? 6-5? who knows.. i really can't pick a winner on this one. On a side note, i'm going out of town, so unless another mod takes control, the two weekend game threads will be pinned till sunday when i return. Feel free to load them up with your take on the games. The chatroom is always open and ready to roll as well.
  3. don't know... more spin control to come tomorrow, i'm sure. unless there's an update in the postgame lindy PC.
  4. 2-2.. time to t urn up the heat
  5. scoooooooooores. afinogenov another PP. if the floodgates don't open after this, i don't know what will do it.
  6. yeah... i just hate the trade rumors.
  7. we're getting points even if our ENTIRE team is out... how awesome is this organization?
  8. hockeybuzz is generally sifting through crap for gold... however, this nugget is gold. with a week off, look for hecht, roy, and lydman to return... hecht is just sick and recovering, roy has a broken arm that will be healed by the weekend, and lydman's neck could go either way. at least we'll see the forwards return, and at worst, lydman will be a gametime decision.
  9. 7pm we can make the weekend 2.5/3 if the bills win today and the sabres put on one hell of a show. This game marks the end of the 10 games in 17 nights and gives the boys a full work week to recover. Things really look up after today... lydman, roy, hecht all could be ready to go. tallinder's return will be on the horizon... Why am i talking about the future? well, judging by this team's character, it will fire the team up for tonight... Miller is extremely pissed off about friday's debacle, so is afinogenov, so is the rest of the inept power play... I'm not going to bet the house on it, but i expect to see a major butt whooping tonight.
  10. 8pm hecht should be back, as this injury was just an illness... hopefully he's taking his medications and he'll be ready to roll... If not, i'm sure ryan can fill in for one more game and hopefully not score -1 goals. I believe i heard in the toronto postgame that lindy stated lydman may be able to go or at least be a gametime decision. That's a huge upgrade. Now, if this team really wants to make a statement that "they're back" after coming close to being back with the pack over the past couple of weeks, its time to lay another 7 on the habs. After that toronto game, i really think this team has its mojo working. My prediction buffalo 6 montreal 1. hope its right, as i'm probably going to this game too. gotta make it 2 for 2 for my thanksgiving trip home! Edit: oops... i set the thread to open tomorrow morning, but forgot to set it to invisible... so since you all got to read my thoughts but not respond, i'll open it now. Sorry, my bad!
  11. yeah!! and they always show my section!! i'll use my cell phone and wave! just kidding... i'll probably wear my black sabres hoodie
  12. 7pm This is the classic rematch game... The sabres get to try to beat the team that beat the crap out of them last game, they get to shut up those awful fans in our building, and max gets some redemption for the pain that was inflicted. I'm not going to predict a winner, because quite frankly, the leafs look very good... But i guarentee the sabres will bring their "A" game and will play hard and tough. Oh hell, i'll predict 5-3 buffalo! plus i'll be there, so look for me on TV!
  13. it may be time to shelf connolly for the year just to keep these guys up and to clear the space on the cap. i'm just hoping lydman comes back very soon to spell that issue. forward depth is an area that we're in zero trouble at the moment.
  14. well, paille provided the chance of pace i was looking for after saturday's stinker. He scored and he was the catalyst for gaustad. Time to build on this for the big game wednesday against the loafs.
  15. PWNAGE! we haven't throttled a team in about 2 or 3 weeks. this is very nice. um, what can be said... gaustad is on fire. paille... he's an upgrade over peters. he may be a rookie and such, but he makes gaustad and mair better. vanek, way to make up for your dumb passes in the 1st. spacek=bomb shot. um, who else scored?? hey, the PP is great tonight, miller is great, and oh by the way, lydman is close to returning... ALl things look GREAT for wednesday's big leaf rematch. the only downer is that hecht apparently left the bench for a short period of time, although he returned for the end of the period. hope he's just a little sick or something, not injured from that big hit the other night. wow, 0-1 heading into 2, and now its 7-1 with 2:00 to go in the 2nd... as i said before, PWNAGE with 20+ to go!
  16. I'm not going to get too excited before exactly 7:05, but it does look a little promising that lydman may make his return very soon rather than very later!
  17. i posted a thread by itself regarding tonight's lineup card at sabres.com. lydman, kotalik, paille, funk are all on the card. my bet is that paille plays in place of peters tonight and lydman is a gametime decision. Things suddenly look rosey http://www.sabres.com/pdf/game_notes.pdf
  18. I don't want to fill this with rumors, so i'll wait to see what wgr or the buffalo news has to say. The d&c didn't say as to why paille was called up, just that he was. Hecht was dinged on that hit, but he did come back and played the rest of the game. hopefully that hit didn't cause a concussion or some sort of shoulder/rib/back injury.
  19. quite possibly benching peters... or there's something big looming...
  20. 7pm I forsee a very upset and nasty sabres team tonight. They'll be at home, where the smart crowd will turn on them at the first possible major mistake. It's still only 2 days from their last game, but tonight will hopefully be a dominating performance. There's some buzz that lydman will be back sooner rather than later, funk will have another day of practice under his belt, miller will be miller, and briere, drury, Pomminstein, etc. will be hungry. It's going to be a buzzsaw tonight, which means, tonight will either be a major letdown or yet another sabres explosion. This brings me to my next point: Germans love David Hasselhoff! Sabrespace chatroom is always open and you can post your game discussion here! GO SABRES!
  21. we shall see tomorrow, but i predict a very pissed off sabres team against the lightning.
  22. by change of pace, i do not mean trade someone or c ut someone or bench someone... I mean they need to cut the no teeth finesse crap and play some balsy playoff defense first hockey. yeah, i know we're down our top 2 defensemen, but that's not an excuse to play hard. funk and paetsch aren't tallinder and lydman, but they can still play defense... kotalik, drury, briere, vanek, et al. can still backcheck. by change of pace, i just meant that the team needs to get back to basics. hopefully a little humble pie this week, served by the senators, will do that. if i were lindy, i'd forget last night and go straight to last november's senator debacle on DVD and show that. it's one thing to lose, it's another to not show up, and lindy will be looking for heads if they don't show up again on monday.
  23. i'm not overreacting... we absolutely sucked tonight. time for a change of pace for monday's home game. nothing is guarenteed here, and this team proved it tonight... At least we all know miller is back, cause he was the only guy to show up. I'm officially sick of peters act by the way. keep stafford here when roy gets back. By the way, speaking of call ups, if you're going to dress funk, you might as well play the guy for extended stretches... campbell, numinnen and kalinin aren't made of steel and bricks. the entire team defense will step up if you play the weakest link long enough to allow those stronger links to rest a bit. Regroup for monday, that's all i can really say... well, that and i hope miller's groin doesn't tweak again.
  24. this game could swing on one shot... time to bury it here on the PP. 3-1... i know we're 15-2-1 or whatever, but this buffalo team is broken at the moment. whether its the injuries or the schedule, we need a change of pace.
  25. is hecht back??
