For sentimental reasons, I'd love to have Kane come here and lead us to 8th place. But in all honesty, even if his hip is good, do we really want another perimeter player that won't get his nose dirty? I mean, he might help the power play, but we still don't have a front of the net presence. Maybe watching Kane and Skinner figure skating in circles in the offensive zone will put more people in the seats!

In all fairness, this group wasn’t making the playoffs with Thompson. Pegula will definitely not allow firings happen anytime soon. He wouldn’t want the negative attention of pink slips at One Bills Drive and Sabreland. It would give the appearance that the sh$t is going south with both franchises.

I am all for getting rid of Granato. I honestly don't think he knows what he got himself into. Unfortunately, if you get rid of DG, you kinda have to blow up the roster because for the most part, they have his demeanor. And the big problem is, too many of the assets in the pipeline are basically the same player with a different name on the back. Size doesn't matter with this group. They all play on the outside and don't have the intestinal fortitude to get to the dirty areas consistently. Something has to give because this team is in jeopardy of implosion after 16 games. Can't wait til the trade deadline. We may see a spark here and there, but this team is definitely not built for the grind (hence the injuries).

Just the mere suggestion of changes to the roster or coaching staff will draw the ire of many on this site! Something needs to change. Start at the top. This team needs a gritty coach that will hopefully rub off on this mentally and physically soft team. Too many players on this team display DG’s personality

And I understand that prior success does not always translate into future success. I just think that with how fragile this roster has become over the years that having someone behind the bench who has been there, done that, is a better option for this group. To me it certainly appears as though they are starting to tune him out. But who knows at this point.

Honest question for everyone. Does it matter that DG has never been a part of an NHL team that has made the playoffs? And hasn’t been part of professional playoffs since 2003? He may be a good developmental guy, but do we want him to try and take this club to the next level when he doesn’t really know what that looks like? If the answer is no, then why let this mismanagement continue for the rest of season? Who would replace him in the middle of the season, who knows. IMHO his trying to move this team any further is detrimental to the collective.

I think we can all pretty much agree that he will not be fired this season unless they go winless in 30 straight. Waiting til the end of the season isn’t the best answer either, especially when this team is supposed to be in mix. After looking at DG’s coaching resume, I am less optimistic on his ability to lead this team to the playoffs. As an assistant or HC in the NHL he is 0-8 in making the playoffs. This year will be #9. He hasn’t been part of the playoffs in the NHL or AHL since 2003. I’m thinking he doesn’t remember what it takes!!

And from what it sounds like, the biggest positive from tonight was that at least we know it's not only a problem on home ice!! 😄

I'd say it's a good thing I missed the game tonight, but with this franchise you could say that for any game, Monday through Sunday, from early October until they hit the links in March. I'm tired of talking crap on this franchise but what else is there to do.
