  1. I can see this happening if it's a new GM, or J.B. returning for one more year. If it's a new GM, he (or she - cannot have the presumption of bias pervading my post) gets a free look for one year before committing anything long term, or trade as you suggest. And if Terry is on the fence about JB does he really allow/approve an 8 year extension?
  2. When I was boy, Goalies didn't wear masks. They ate rubber, and had no teeth......and they liked it!
  3. Cirelli with an awesome cross check of Chara. I’m on the bus to try and pry him out of TB.
  4. This!
  5. Just get it to a shoot out. Guaranteed W.
  6. Agree to not rush him to the PK, especially this one. But the tandem of Dahlin and Miller should get a chance to be top pair over Risto and Montour at 5v5. If nothing else it’s a measuring stick on progress.
  7. The Dahlin/Miller pairing is playing better together each game. Why are they not getting a chance to play as top pair? Does Kruger believe there is some other advantage of playing Dahlin against lower lines? I have no idea, but agreed a chance should be provided to another pairing.
  8. LGR - Are you taking notes? School’s in, son. You should probably send a ? and move on. Great analysis.
  9. Wayne is playing for a contract. Should I mention the intangible - motivation. He gets two points. If Ennis can score in his debut as an Oiler so can Simmonds with the Sabres. Memo to Carter.....
  10. The dude missed 27 games total in 9 years in Buffalo. What's one level below Iron? Maybe in his later years where it was reported he was not in good physical condition and used his skill to get by you could question effort, but just b/c a player isn't skating around with his head on fire and hitting everything in sight does not mean there was no effort. Also with respect to your Reinhart comparison- When Thomas signed his contract in 2007 with an AAV of $7.14M, that was over 14% of the team cap. So you should feel good about a $7.5-$8M number for Sam as that would only be 9%.
  11. You, a dissenter? Shut the front door. You cannot blame Thomas for the mistakes of Darcy at the end of his career or the restrictions imposed on the GM by ownership. He was a pure goal scorer. Questionable ethics as it pertains to gambling, but solid on the ice. Your an effort guy. Thomas brought his lunch pail to work each day. How can you not respect that?
  12. If you are looking for a new #2, sure makes more sense. You carry a $2m cap hit for him in the A, no harm. If you need the space to sign a #1 the hit is only $916K. You pick up a $1M extra in 2020, and lose it in 2021. I don't think he's going to either, so it just mental *****.
  13. Waiving worked for Bogo, and could work for Carter. But this July there are three top tier UFA's that will not be available in coming years. A buyout this June saves $1.8M in 20/21, with a hit of only $916K for the next two. I'm using that space to pursue Holtby, Markstom or Murray.
  14. Why would you say it's stupid? Stupid would be to rolling into 2021 expecting different results from the ineffective duo currently minding net.
  15. Or half-a-Hunwick in bad Contracts he can accept from them.
  16. Add $916k for the C Hutton Buyout in June.
  17. And adding zero value. When asked who had a better trade deadline - NJD or Ottawa he asked Marty who had more First round picks returned. Seriously? If your paid to comment, I need you to know a little about who they traded and what was the return, and secondly, a little more insight. Horrible Hammy. Time to hang those Iowa State skates up.
  18. I knew the Belgians are good with their “waffles” but I had no idea how good their gloves were.
  19. Not revisionist history. His performance in Buffalo was $hite. No question. The decision to not extend was justified. But he did perform outside this organization and just garnered more trade capital than Scandella. Those are facts. I thought they were fun.
  20. Fun fact - Derek Grant, whom the Sabres failed to extend in 2017 (JB went with Pouliot, Griffith and Josefson) signed with the Ducks for one year $650K and went on to score 12 goals that year, just brought back more to the Ducks than Scandella did for Buffalo.
  21. Mission Viejo
  22. Zero Chance. Getz is retiring a Duck. The fans love him out here. So does ownership. He is a part of the OC fabric.
  23. I think this is right. If Son of Lars is not moved at the deadline it’s because he probably expressed an interest to stay, but since we haven’t seen an extension he probably wants to leave. The ONLY reason for him to stay is the Sweden West thing going on in Western NY. The losing has to have taken a toll. UFA status is earned, and he deserves a look. If he re-signs good for us, if not good on him. We need a prospect not a draft pick in return if moved.
  24. This. Good comparison. Question is how can we do a reverse Kassian trade? We need to find a trade partner where we give the weaker Hodgson type player (Casey) and receive a bigger/stronger player (like Zack) with more smarts.
