  1. Loved his attitude last night. Especially at the end of the game after the slew foot from Goodrow. That dude needs a ***** pounding. The slash to the back of the legs is just a primer.
  2. Meritocracy Worthy
  3. It's not turnovers. In fact, he was above average on the PP last night. It's the ability to defend in his own end. What exactly did you see in his game last night that was impressive? The board can and will over react, based on higher expectations. Right or wrong, he is playing the most minutes by far, so the bar is set high. In last nights game, his pairing with Joki (which I abhor) was by far the worst in terms of expected goal diff, Corsi, Fenwick and other advanced stats. They played ~19 5/5 minutes and gave up almost 3 times the shots than the Bryson/Miller pairing playing about 15 minutes. The eye test shows not once but twice that he slid to disrupt a pass and whiffed. The first time on a 2 on 1 break and another where UPL saves his bacon and makes a spectacular blocker save. And finally, even though we now know he was exonerated for his offside (singular 😉) play, he shouldn't have put the Sabres in that position in the first place.
  4. Dahlin is third in 5/5 GF per 60. Miller is first and Hagg is second. And he is also third least on GA per 60. Pysyk and Bryson are ahead of him. This according NHL Reference. According to Money puck he is tied with Butcher for third in Expected goals 5/5. Mark Pysyk being first. Colin Miller has 8 points, 2 goals and 4 primary assists compared to Dahlin’s 7, 2 and 2 respectively. And Colin Miller sucks. So I won’t bash the kid, because, well he’s still a kid. But I also refuse to defend him. He was first overall and playing with mostly JAGs. Defensively he has regressed this year and has made incredibly poor decisions. He lost the blue line 4 times in the Anaheim game alone. This - can’t - happen! And the crazy part is he is still far superior to any other D we could replace him with at the point on the PP. So to honor the request NS’ Ghost, I wish to single out Zemgus for his level of effort the last three games. Not sure if the expected goals, Corsi or other stats bear it out, but he is actively hitting, grinding, winning puck battles and doing everything to earn the ‘A’ . Cheers Z.
  5. While he has operated in their parameters, I’m opiated watching amateurs. #frustrated. Firing is unnecessary and unwarranted until we see what the draft and UFA looks like. Must see significant progress next year. Including the addition of an experienced D (read > than Mark P) to munch minutes on PK and a top 2 pair.
  6. I don’t know. 5’11 is kind of smallish. I’d be worried he gets run. 😏
  7. Incorrect. Allowing kicking is dangerous and would encourage more kicking and skates off the ice. Agree no different than directing or angling, so both should be disallowed.
  8. No hurricanes in Carolina tonight Meliorate Weather
  9. Why? Because one plays 25+ minutes a night and the other plays 16. One is a jag, the other is a 1OA. You don’t see Elkblad making those mistakes do you? No he played 28 minutes and dominated at both ends of the ice.
  10. Girgs- Boom goes the dynamite 🧹
  11. Would have, but too busy watching Robin lose at Anaheim. He’s dropped three of his last four starts. 😁 Mirthful Watching.
  12. The third goal was completely defensive positioning. Jokiharu had a horrible game. There wasn’t a Sabres player in sight for McCanns goal. I mean crazy open. Joki was literally above the circle ⭕. But the tandem of poor goaltending and weak defense has them second last to Montreal in goals against. Serious regression. I wouldn’t be opposed to moving on from any current D men for next year. Tabula Rasa.
  13. More squeeze please.....highly underrated. For @The Ghost of Doohickie and @The Ghost of Yuri I've stood some ghostly moments With natives in the hills Recorded here on paper My chills and thrills and spills Take me I'm yours
  14. This time last season (after 18 games) the Sabres had just begun an unmentionable streak and was about to embark on the worst stretch of games most of us have ever seen. Their record was 6-9-3 and Ulmark started in 11 of these games. Jack, Sam and T Hall playing in most. Yet scoring 12 goals less than this team through the same 18. Goals against worse, but not by much. And as stated, a legit starter unlike what Donny’s had to work with the last 8. Baby steps
.
  15. You got your wish. There were no ‘Must Win’ posts. And see what that brought? A must lose mentality. Medicinal Words
  16. I don’t know Pi. No whistles the last 3+ minutes and they had a few offensive rushes in the last 4 shifts. He played only the top 2 lines in those last 4. Yes another unacceptable third period outshot around 13-4 but not completely in a shell. Lots of blame to share but I place it on the D-men. Bryson specifically.
