I too would take Rasmus going forward, but he didn’t display those skills that differentiate him until February of this year. You could argue Dahlin’s defensive lapses in his second and third years left him behind Hughes in comparison. Demonstrated in Hughes contract extension vs Rasmus’ bridge deal. I don’t consider the comment that outrageous at all.

Islanders Fire Trotz after 4 seasons.

No surprise. The coaching carousel that is the NHL. Trotz prior to this firing was the 5th most tenured coach with a team. Only Cassidy, Bednar, Sullivan and Cooper have been in their respective positions longer. Really makes you appreciate what Lindy did in Buffalo. -
He can go straight to hell. ***** the station for adding a no talent ***** like him to their broadcast team. It’s not funny, it’s not a schtick, it’s pathetic. Bissionette makes Kevin Bieksa look like Kelly Hrudey.

Came for the catnip of a Sweet Lou trade idea, stayed for the pedanticism. Trade idea - Mitts and Bryson for Killorn and Cernak.

The Carolina / Boston series is getting chippy…….and I’m liking it.

Goalies are usually thin. He looks husky. Thick if you will. Chubby even.

Here are the latest contracts between 5-8 years, with an AAV of $6.25m and $7.5m. Should be an interesting summer. I can see Tage taking a long term extension on a team friendly deal as long as TPegs gives him a nice signing bonus. Tage is due to make only $1.6m next year. (Pains me to write that). Seems like both parties would be interested to get something done. Tage as he is newly married and it might give him solace to have certainty so he can buy a home and settle in to the community. Happy wife-happy life. KA would love to have Pasternak like contract to pay dividends in a few years. https://www.capfriendly.com/signings/all/all/forwards/5-8/6250000-7500000/0-0/1-way Git r done

His contact was made while the goalie was in the blue, before the puck was frozen.

Used to listen to him on the Jim Roam show years ago. Not much of a fan. Watched his show on NFL network a few times. Meh. His visit to Buffalo for the wild card game, entertaining. Tonight’s effort. Nailed it. Undisputed winner of the guest announcers.

Middle of the second period? If so the puck was frozen, and Hayden poked it after the whistle. He was fortunate not to get a penalty for goaltender interference. Those calls are so subjective.

@LGR4GM @Weave @Carmel Corn - All good points. Their numbers are about the same in points/60 minutes. Krebs slightly higher, and certainly more EV strength goals/60. Interesting fact - Krebs shooting percentage is higher overall and much higher than Mitts this year with Buffalo. I would have guessed Mitts based on what appears to be a superior shot. The point about Mitts getting more return, Krebs being two years younger and recently acquired makes me side with Marty's take. I do not see him as a number two center. Next year or in the future. This was conceded by Duffer when he suggested Mitts future is on the wing. I have been luke-warm on Mitts as a prospect and while I concede he made nice strides this year, the foot speed is just lacking so I can move on. Plus Marty and Duffer know a $hit-ton more than me. Hopefully good fodder.

Marty Biron makes the case for trading Mitts today on the Instigators. (Around 14 minute mark). Speaks to the attractive AAV for two more years, and the Center position should be Tage/Cozen/Krebs. His position is the Sabres need to trade for a quality starting goaltender or defense. Also considers the Salary Cap in two more years, when you have Krebs, Power and Dahlin needing new contracts as well. Duffer was higher on moving Olofsson. Claims the trade value is now at its pinnacle. Both seems to agree that the Sabres need to make room for Quinn on the wing and probably need to move one player in a trade to secure another component. I feel like Mitts being a JB regime guy coupled with his cap number being so seductive to a team like Minnesota makes him the target in the offseason.
