Many times. Kjell and Jonesy are tight. They referred to Muel as “the best player on the ice”. -

Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.
Broken Ankles replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
But they are not. The Sabres are looking at the prospect of losing two significant draft selections (Johnson and Portillo) for nothing. Conjecture about a late 2nd round pick next year if we lose a first round prospect) next year. Clearly not enough return on losing a #30 OA who has been properly developed for the last three years. Once they commit to play in the fall the likelihood either of these two sign are low. It’s not sky is falling like Arizona, but it’s not nothing either. -

This is the entire point. No one cares if he plays for UM after next year. If he completes the season, and he looks bonafide, then he simply waits a few months and hand selects his team. -

This article as well as what has been widely reported by Wgr55 suggests that Portillo can become a UFA in August 2023 after 4 years total. Even though only a Junior. https://www.buckys5thquarter.com/wisconsin-badgers-mens-hockey/2014/3/19/5527430/nhl-cba-collective-bargaining-agreement-ncaa-hockey-players -
But he was prevented from getting back into the play directly because of a cross-check. Using your stick to gain leverage has always been a penalty. A small player like Hughes could never move a frame like that without the illegal play. The problem is we still allow this occur within the game and rely on refs to determine the severity to make it a penalty vs a no call. Just not a fan of the league stating they were going to pursue something than walk it back.

Happier than heck myself it wasn’t called, not that John deserves to get the calls like the elite players get, but he was cross-checked in front of the net. That rule was supposed to be enforced this season and with few exceptions, has not.

GDT: Buffalo at Toronto, 4/12/22, 7 PM, MSG, WGR FEEL THE POWER
Broken Ankles replied to Doohicksie's topic in The Aud Club
Power gets a W in his first game with a solid defensive performance. Matthews does not score. The Leaves drop three in a row to the mighty Sabres all within the Province of Ontario. Pedantic police - scold Robbie Ray for calling Owen “Powers” please. -
Does @Samson's Flow change his name to @owen's Flow?

GDT: Sabres at Hurricanes 07 April 2022 7:30 PM

I had low expectations and they were exceeded. Shocked to hear so much discontent when half the year you’re getting Dan and Rob. Glass houses. Leah was incredibly well prepared and sprinkled the information throughout the broadcast. I also thought they were complimentary to a young Sabres team who on paper were outmatched by a division leading Hurricane squad with 37 more points. Glad we don’t play these games as a simulation. * unless you believe our life is a simulation in which case you could argue that a real life competition within the context of a simulation is a simulation itself. -

Haven't given a thought until you mentioned it. As someone who was highly critical of Dahlin in Oct/Nov I feel I need to come his defense on how those numbers (+/-) don't tell the whole story in the second half. In the detail below from Natural Stat trick, from January 9th to present Dahlin has a little bit more time (228 to 175 minutes) with others than Joki had with others. And the chances, High Danger, Fenwick, Corsi, and expected goals are all better with Dahlin than Joki. And not just by a little, by a lot. Except goals for, which Joki has a plus 1. Their performance together in the same period shows about twice as many minutes (448) and the expected goals and Corsi numbers are between the metrics without. With actual goals for around 3% below the expected. On the semi-related point about Casey and Mark, yeah, that is concerning and why I have not been a proponent of bringing Mark back unless it's as #8. Bringing it back to point 1, I think Joki is not the ideal compliment to Dahlin and with a true #2 RD Dahlin's numbers in actuals goals for could explode next year. As in those 60%+ Corsi and High Danger chances, only they are executing better so the net difference is a positive +/. Similarly, Power could play with a steadying veteran force leaving Jokiharju on a third pair with Muel where together they would excel. I'm thinking of Gudas imposing himself physically against the Sabres yesterday. Separating man from puck multiple times. Give me two of those please.

We will be watching the game on tape delay. My 82 year old father is visiting from Buffalo and we are golfing this morning. The Sabres have been on fire since his arrival going 3-0-2 which has enhanced his stay. Could be a letdown after the emotional win on Friday however @jsb point about revenging the embarrassment for last months loss is something I look forward to seeing from the boys. Enjoy the game. Bjork-Eakin-Hayden 2nd Worst Line in NHL (now 437 out of 438)
Broken Ankles replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
I assume you mean KO? According to Money Puck, using 150 minutes as the minimum minutes played, that line ranks 31st best in Expected goals against per 60 minutes out of 89 qualifying lines with 2.23. So top third. Unfortunately their Expected GF/60 ranking is 86 out of 89. I wouldn’t have guessed that bad. They have had good possession numbers the last 8 games but maybe not out chancing the opponent according to the fancy stats. -
That is wild, weird stuff.
