  1. @LGR4GM wins.
  2. RJ, Your life is a blessing, your voice a treasure, You are loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure. Melancholy Wrap-up.
  3. JV Defense against Bergeron is not a good formula.
  4. @LGR4GM @Weave @Carmel Corn - All good points. Their numbers are about the same in points/60 minutes. Krebs slightly higher, and certainly more EV strength goals/60. Interesting fact - Krebs shooting percentage is higher overall and much higher than Mitts this year with Buffalo. I would have guessed Mitts based on what appears to be a superior shot. The point about Mitts getting more return, Krebs being two years younger and recently acquired makes me side with Marty's take. I do not see him as a number two center. Next year or in the future. This was conceded by Duffer when he suggested Mitts future is on the wing. I have been luke-warm on Mitts as a prospect and while I concede he made nice strides this year, the foot speed is just lacking so I can move on. Plus Marty and Duffer know a $hit-ton more than me. Hopefully good fodder.
  5. Marty Biron makes the case for trading Mitts today on the Instigators. (Around 14 minute mark). Speaks to the attractive AAV for two more years, and the Center position should be Tage/Cozen/Krebs. His position is the Sabres need to trade for a quality starting goaltender or defense. Also considers the Salary Cap in two more years, when you have Krebs, Power and Dahlin needing new contracts as well. Duffer was higher on moving Olofsson. Claims the trade value is now at its pinnacle. Both seems to agree that the Sabres need to make room for Quinn on the wing and probably need to move one player in a trade to secure another component. I feel like Mitts being a JB regime guy coupled with his cap number being so seductive to a team like Minnesota makes him the target in the offseason.
  6. As in $10m total for both, or $10m each. A $40m commitment to two aging players not worth their contracts today? But more, 100% guaranteed, for two more years, each.
  7. This is concerning. Two breaks the other day, one wide open chance in front earlier, multiple shots and many are wide or right on. The line he is on has good metrics but his inability to cash in is troublesome.
  8. What is the Press Box Alex? I kid. Nice assist but still not a top 12 forward.
  9. I took my father to the 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill on Saturday & Sunday. It was a blast. Beautiful course to walk and a few nice holes that you can sit in the shade and watch all the players come through. Highly recommended. @PromoTheRobot appreciate the heads up on the advanced ticket info.
  10. You could interpret that comment that Toronto is “playoff ready” with such a crushing defeat. While I have thoroughly enjoyed the Sabres March and April, and cheering for a Vegas slide my hockey season would not be complete without seeing another meltdown by the Leafs. The earlier the better. Mix in a Boston sweep by Florida and my spring is complete.
  11. Lehner pulled after the first period. His replacement Logan Thompson let in one in the second, on 8 shots against. Vegas down 2-1 to start the third. Seems desperate in Sin City.
  12. To the bold - why would Dumba ask or rather any team give Dumba that kind of deal? He isn’t that good. Better than what we have at RD but every time you read “cap dump” in Minnesota this guys name is attached to the conversation. If he wants term, it would be in the same range/ AAV he is at today. Like Risto. To the italics - if the trajectory continues, and the cap grows in 2024 will this not be $13M?
  13. Assuming they overpay. Otherwise his next contact is to the highest bidder. Don’t forget the first rule of John Eichel. (No, it’s not don’t talk about John Eichel)…. “Listen, my number one interest and my number one goal is Jack Eichel, you know what I mean?”
  14. 4.) salary cap circumvention - we have recently seen this benefit the team taking on players/trades. It would be nice to see one work against a team.
  15. Andrew Hammond with 42 saves - second most of his career. Devils win 3-2. This was a must have for the GK. Vegas needs to win out, and I can’t see that happening. Lehner was a key factor in the loss.
  16. Ken Burns documentary on Ben Franklin is outstanding. It’s on PBS this month. Sorry to derail the hockey and humor of the thread, but had to share.
