  1. Really? GDT - Sabres @ Pittsburgh - November 19, 2018 - 7:00 PM (EST) - 8:00 PM (AST) LGR4GM replied to New Scotland (NS)'s topic in The Aud Club Hockey is fun again and I might cry.
  2. How is it that they were able to coach them to a 10 game win streak and make all of the SS world happy? EDIT: I wouldn't worry too much, these last few games we lost because of some"bad" bounces.
  3. What a bunch of pathetic "bandwagon" fans(?) ya'll are. I suggest you guys all go back and read some of the posts during the win streak and get your lives back together. All this whining and crying over fire the coach, Jack O'Reilley losing his love for the game, we're gonna lose Skinner if this keeps up, we, need to fix the PP, Hutton's just a back-up, start Ullmark, our prospect pool sucks, JBots sitting on his hands doing nothing, *sniffle* WAHHHHHHHHHHH. We need to get Bots to trade for Malkin and P. Kane and put them with Mitts. I don't care if we have to give up both 6th rd picks, Guhle,, Bailey, Cornell, Myles Powell, and Malone. I know Bailey and Malone are local boys but we have to give if we want to get back. Besides, you're bringing in Kane so that will relieve some of the pain. JBot, if you're reading this (I assume you are as you read all my posts) ......GIT 'er done!!! Gotta go, it's time for my "day after the game" sarcasm shake. Does anyone know where I can trade in my Hamilton Beach blender for a Ninja....I'll even throw in the cord?
  4. Very well done....and you're right, a good number of those trades don't work out as expected. That goes for the UFA's that are the center of bidding wars too.
  5. This also gets tiring, when people omit parts of trades. We didn't just give them Pu...we gave them 3 picks also. Now, multiply that by 2x = 2 prospects and 6 picks if you make two similar trades for 2 players. That's 8 pieces to the "pool" you no longer have. Granted, the 2 6th rd picks aren't likely to amount to anything but remember that Olofsson was a 7th rd pick.
  6. Not really an excuse but, between Larsson cross-checking him 1st and with the game on the line at the time, it may be they didn't want to take any additional penalties. Tampa got an extra 2min. McDonaugh didn't do anything to Eichel and whether or not it was a cheap shot (it may have looked like it) it was a different situation. I would expect the Sabres to react the same in the same situation.
  7. Vegas wouldn't give you odds of beating any of those teams....if you didn't make the playoffs.
  8. Easy buddy...nobody is asking anyone to tank. Don't forget that you can finish 1pt out of the playoffs and still win one of the lottery picks.
  9. Is this the only post you read.....I thought so, LOL EDIT: they are already in a position for a TOP 3 player....you can win any of the 3 lotteries from any position outside the playoffs.
  10. First off it was just a worst case scenario of missing the playoffs and screwing with the Blues. 2ndly...I'd like to make the playoffs just as much as anyone else. Just don't think it would be productive though. Sure it might help with confidence for some of the guys but that's about it. A top 3 player in the draft could possibly help more for the long run. I'm not as confident about a 20th pick and a 1st rd and out. JBot is the only one who can change my thoughts on that by making some very creative moves. This team as it stands not only doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs but won't win if they get lucky enough to make it.
  11. The way things are looking we have a better shot at a lottery pick....only about 5pts away now. I would love to see us finish with the 11th pick and STL with the 10th pick. Then we win one of the lottery picks which would push STL to the 11th spot and we get their pick also. We end up picking in the top 3, 11th, and SJ pick.
  12. I just thought it seemed you weren't accepting that train of thought and taking the "math" as undeniable truth. Sorry if iI misconstrued that or stepped on anyone's toes.
  13. I think his stance is more on the side of they don't really "prove" anything and you know as well as the rest of us that there are always "outliers" that can be found. You can find that math will prove 7+6=13 without doubt, but you can't prove carrying the puck into zone on a rush will guarantee you will score. It might show the odds are better but will not prove 100% you will score.
  14. Pretty much, except that it was more a questionable call in the least.
  15. The verdict is still out on some of those picks (especially the more recent ones. So, to claim the bolded, is not "exactly" true. Also, we may have three 1st rd picks this year even though we don't have any 2nd's (which could change between now and then). I think I'd settle for 3 1st rd picks.
  16. The Isles might have lost Tavares but they still have depth through their line-up. Maybe not household names but depth none the less. Phil has tried almost every conceivable combo with what he has to work with. He has maximized it to the point that there is only 2 lines that actually work and we all know that . Your other points are "well received".
  17. I know how you feel. I keep calling in to the Instigators show and they hang up after asking my name when I answer "Call Me Misty".
  18. I don't think it will be as bad as you think. Buffalo sports teams play up/down to their competition. Edit: forgot......MUST WIN for CallawaySabres
  19. This is where I worry the most. If the "class" is deep, then maybe that will bring down the cost of good players (maybe not). Also, why are these players on the market? We've all seen teams marching to agencies presenting their "offers" for guys who end up not being what the team hoped they were getting. On the other hand, some players turned out to be "diamonds in the rough". All I hope for is that JB exercise caution in signing players for the future.
  20. This whole post is where the problem lies. It's called FAN EXPECTATIONS based on a 10 game "lucky bounce streak". 1. i'm sure the Pegulas gave JB "time" to turn this thing around. Not a week, month, or even a year. It takes time to make the moves and it takes more than one GM to make a trade happen. You're looking at building a whole organization and not just adding a player or two. 2. I'm also sure that JB is well aware of where we were in the standings. I'm sure he's also aware of the talent he has to work with (and where this team is lacking said talent). He's also aware that the 10 game streak is what we have to look forward to in the future on a more regular basis once his work is done. He knows this skid shows that what he has proclaimed on many occasions is true...there's more work to be done. 3. We as fans have seen many strategies that have not come to fruition and there is no real proven fool-proof answer to what does work. All I can say is that this version so far has been better to watch than recent years and I'm looking forward to the next year for an even more improved team and take it from there. Coach Phil has a usage problem we are all to well familiar with. The reason....the talent level more so than anything. nothing in the middle six seems to be working and that's not his fault and I'm sure JB knows where the "work needs to be done" to give Phil the opportunity to succeed. 4. Who has been our better players this year...Eichel ,Skinner, Sam for sure. Beyond that I'd have to say Bogo is proving to be more of the player we hoped he be when we traded for him and deserves to wear an A. KO leads by example and may have lost the talent he once had but not his energy. Risto has been a beast most of the season. Girgs and Larry have surprised us all. The leadership part of this team has provided just that. Now we need to get the talent that is capable of following what the leadership is providing. With the much improved play of the D this year and the core of forwards we have, I am looking forward to what moves JB will make to improve on what we currently have. If you want to think we should make the playoffs now and are unhappy with where we are with the talent we have, then I suggest you look at some other team rosters and remind yourself we could (and should ) be worse than some other teams. We have threads that say we should be plucking players from other teams, why? How? Philly has Giroux and Couturier(in 30th place), STL has O'Reilley and Schenn (in 25th place), CHI has Toews and Anisimov. I think that covers some of the players that have been mentioned as trades. With good depth at the C position they aren't CUP contenders either. Each team has different needs or the same, but are trying to pluck from the same talent pool. we don't have a Sid/ Malkin combo and neither do alot of other teams. The streak might have been the worst thing to happen. It made the fans unrealistic in their expectations for this year, and the players may have thought that they were better than they are as a team.
  21. Your horse died.... I believe that STL had or even has more talent than the Sabres and so far they aren't a playoff team either. Right now they are 7pts out of the 2nd WC spot and sitting in the 7th draft pick spot.
  22. A short look into this raises some question as to his age. Wikipedia says he started his broadcasting career in 1969 at his alma mater Univ of Michigan. USA Today article about the 'Canes letting him go (offered an 80% cut in salary) says he is 66yrs old. If he is in fact 66yrs old he would have been born in about 1952 (the article was dated 7/25/18). If born in 1952, then he started his "broadcasting career" at his alma mater at age 17? Doesn't sound right.
  23. I also voted every day for Skinner. I didn't think it would matter either but guess it did.?
