Never said you were, so chill. It has been in my posts and thoughts about the fact that it may only be partly Casey and partly the wings he has. Sheary and KO/ TT are not the best to play with a C you're trying to develop in his 1st season. Where I said "to pin it on Casey" was not meant against you, but as a general statement to public sentiment. I also agree with you on most everything else. I've repeatedly said that I'm not against bringing in a 2C depending on who and at what cost. But I think it's a pipe dream to think just a 2C will get us to the playoffs, too many issues that need cleaning up.

How productive have players like Sheary, TT, KO, etc been away from Casey? Pommer might be an exception when playing with 1st line. Another argument could be made to get Casey some better wings and that might also help. Our bottom nine can be move around as many times as you want and still get the same amount of production (not much). To pin it on Casey is really not fair and he's not really a liability when on the ice either (no more than most 20yr olds). I'm not saying I'm against getting a 2C. There's nothing wrong with getting a guy and having the two of them battle it out for the next couple years with one of them ultimately becoming the 3C, in fact that would be great as we would end up with possibly 3 scoring lines when all is said and done. It would also allow for us to get better wingers in the drafts to fill those middle two lines easier or through FA/ trade/ or call-ups.

I never said he wasn't expected to be around for "more than two months". I also never said the plan was to get out of his deal. I did however use the words "useful" and "body filler in the line-up".....the salary dump was the part we took on for STL paying ROR the $7M. None of this screams "I expect this for only 2 months nor even another year. If anyone expected or even stood behind Berglund as a "productive" player, it was me on several occasions even prior to this season. I really wished it had worked out.

I don't think it's about zero deviation. I'M also not convinced that JBot's plan necessarily included a "productive" Berglund (useful body filler in the line-up might be more appropriate). He was more a salary dump on us for the $7M owed to ROR. If Berglund were still in the line-up and we are in the same place we are now, nothing would be different except that we'd have a guy with a bad contract we'd be hoping to get rid of but likely can't.

1) If Harrington is on board with it, then it's probably the wrong thing to do. 2) To "fix" all the "problems" will need time and a 2C will not fix enough to worry about it right now. However, I'm not against getting a 2C or making a move (or more)if the right opportunity comes along. Whether it's for a playoff run or an adjustment for the future. 3) there is too much work to be done still to believe it's worth while to desperately run off course at this time. I"m hoping JBot knows what he's doing and does what's best for the team, and not what we would "like" to see just to satisfy us temporarily. The wrong move could actually set us back and we could become Edmonton or others that are up and down every year or picking 1st for years.

I have some issue with moving Sam. Who on this team do you believe can pick up the offense that he creates, especiallly on the RW? On a team in need of MORE offense? Certainly not a 2C as it would likely be the same as taking Reino off the 1st line and putting him on the 2nd line in all reality. I'd be more inclined to give up picks/prospects to get a 2C in order to ADD to the teams offense. Right now Sam is the type player we all look for....good production and not a burden on the salary cap or the locker room. And you certainly don't have to give up Sam to get a Coyle (unless your Chiarelli).

I saw Wedgewood play last year and I was cringing (like fingernails on a chalkboard) when we got him. He looked terrible with the Coyotes, like a sieve and always out of position. Let in 5-6 softies in one game and very inconsistent.

I've wondered about that part too. Even if he didn't have a problem prior to the trade, maybe their taking advantage of the situation with his NMC caused the issues he developed. And the thing that convinces me he's being truthful about his feelings about the Sabres and Buffalo....he actually said nice things about about the players, the organization, and getting help. He said nothing good about STL.

Just a thought....with the whole "culture" thing and people so touchy about their feelings nowadays, wouldn't trading Scandella to make room for Beaulieu after the fact he "requested" a trade, be considered "culture shock"? FTR, I'm not for it nor against it. I do however dislike depleting our D-corps and with Fedun gone it would make that two with NHL experience.

Just a suggestion...can the thread title be changed to indicate the bolded. Maybe add "around the NHL" or something.
