  1. There are other ways to look at this.....yes, winning board battles needs to be better. But what if you can avoid those battles, gain possession, and clear the zone? This is where I think Pilut is better than Scandy. Getting to pucks faster, getting possession, and moving the puck, without the need to battle. Every play and every circumstance can have a different outcome based on many variables.
  2. Not if there's even two people like you out the walking around.
  3. You're about as twisted as your post.
  4. So it's more difficult to aquire troubled head-cases than it is to get rid of them?
  5. While it might look Messier, it 's softness creates a Grestsky where when it passes it goes in. Nothing a good cup of Coffey can't take care of though.
  6. Another thing to consider is that if we paid that bonus ....would the deal ever get done and how much more would STL have been willing to pay if we did.
  7. Just like any other subject....we could argue this for weeks and neither would get anywhere. But just an FYI.....I don't think anyone would claim to believe that Berglund by himself was going to replace O'Reilly. That's why there were more pieces to the trade coming back this way.
  8. I know what that's like. I lived in southern PA among alot of Steelers fans. Hope you like Nascar. I actually went to a Hershey Bears game to see the Amerks play and get my hockey fix. Amerks won and I had great seats. Mybe you can get your fix and keep us posted at the same time by going to some Charlotte Checkers/ Amerks games. Best of luck to you. They play in Charlotte 3/15 and 3/16 FYI.
  9. In all actuality your post reeks of hindsight.....read your post and tell me which things you knew for a fact that Jbot, the scouting dept, hockey analysts, and even alot of fans on these boards didn't know at the time of the trade. I'll even give you a starting point.....the bolded part....I agree that ROR was great at faceoffs. He finished last year at 60.1%. Do you know what Berglunds FO% was with the Sabres? 58.6%. Another point .....did you know Berglund was gonna just walk away from hockey at the time of the trade? Did you know that he was "emo/depressive personality" at the time of the trade? Do you want me to keep going because I could pick apart the rest of your post too?
  10. This is why I'm not a big stat guy.... I see these kids create plenty of opportunities that just get wasted on our impotent forwards.
  11. Reinhart is from Vancouver, not Edmonton. Someone would have to "sweeten" the pot for Philly (hopefully EDM). I'd rather try to get Couturier without giving up Sam because I think those two would be good together on L2. Just send all our picks this year(limit-two 1st rd picks) for Couturier and Simmonds. Throw in Nylander if necessary.
  12. How was it NOT accurate? They started the season with 13 active forwards which included Mitts and TT. To my knowledge 13-2 still equals 11. I don't think the "new math" changed that. And so you know....your roster for the start of the season is WRONG. Larsson was on IR to start the season (as was Wilson). Elie was picked off waivers to complete the 23-man roster of 13F, 8D, and 2G.
  13. Bolded #1....this is your problem....I never said it had anything to do with what's best for them or not. It was just a process and timing issue. Bolded #2....Berglund isn't here right now and hasn't been for awhile. It's only YOUR opinion as to when he should have been in Roch....but that's all that matters right? Your opinion of JBot seems to be of the minority, but at least we allow you that opinion.
  14. About as hard as understanding that 3x4=12 and not 11. About as hard as understanding that nothing was said about making a good decision as far as their development. The part about "who replaces them was meant as just that. You're not going to send two guys down without having someone to replace them for a full roster. You make a deal to replace them and send them down the day you make the deal.
  15. OK, so I'll send them two down to Roch and play the rest of the season with 11 forwards and see how irrelevant it is to replace them. Hahahaha.
  16. What's the benefits of judging years afterward? The draft is then "history" and just a stat in the books. If we didn't judge previous to the draft then we might as well send you to the draft with a bingo machine or a dart board and let you make the picks. Judging prior gives you an idea of how to go about filling the needs of your team. What kind of players are available in certain ranges, do they fit your need, do you feel they can step right in or do they need a couple years, etc. The only thing wrong is that you don't know yet where you are picking exactly.
  17. I think there's more aspects than just assuming the bolded being correct. For example...Mitts' play throughout his career (H,S.,college, and 6g stint last year) gave everyone, from Bots to scouts to analysts to the fans, reason to believe he would've produced better than he has so far this year. The fact that he really doesn't have quality or stability on his flanks hasn't helped either. While this may "partly" be on Bots, I don't think it's any indication that he "sucks" at his job. To go along with the Mitts issue is the TT issue. The problem could be more of....if we send them down then who replaces them? It would take a trade to fill both positions and it takes more than one GM to work out a trade. If you can confirm without a doubt that Bots has had reasonable offers on any of our trash to make sending them down an option, please confirm by all means. There is more to it than just that, you then need to find a place for the guys in Roch that they will replace. You have to consider all the moves that need to be made and they also take time. Both players are progressing in a forward direction, I would be more concerned about what Bots was doing if they weren't. Rather than seeing Mitts demoted to the AHL or a 3C role, I would rather see us get a quality 2C and try Mitts on a wing. Also get another winger. Have E-Rod or Sobotka center a third line.
  18. It's not jealousy....it's being in awe.?
  19. It's Reinhart with Elie and Nelson. With Eichel, Skinner gone.
  20. And I don't see it helping his development by dropping him down a line with even crappier wingers. I think he has been handled wrong from the beginning. That could be Casey's fault by giving everyone higher expectations with his 6 game stint last year.
