I never said anything about him being trade bait. My "tryout" remark was with the intent of seeing who can best help us in regards to the final run. Hoping that the "rotational" part means that we hopefully get to see others like Olofsson and Nylander, all "before the deadline" so that we can see if the help is coming from within or if we need to make some sort of deal.

What I'm saying is there "shouldn't" be a need to open a roster spot if it's a trade that doesn't involve any "young assets". Unless you think we can get two players for either KO, Pommer, Sobotka, Hunwick, or even Hutton. The only other way would be trading a draft pick for a player, but I would consider a pick a "young asset".

I wonder if this is the start of a rotational tryout before the deadline and who might be next one up.

I know what you're saying, but he said "holding on to young assets". To me that would mean giving up an older asset, which means that the older asset would be the roster spot created for a player coming in trade. No need to send Elie down. Who in the line of "older assets" we have could bring in a legit 2C?

I would guess that a 2C is out of the question. The only way it happens depends on what he considers an asset (also the other GM).

Maybe if Nelson is close to returning they send him down on a "conditioning" stint and keep Pilut up longer. I can see them sending Pilut down for playoff run if things don't turn around here soon.

Sorry, you're taking my post too literal. The general idea is that we all tend to think that certain players would never come here and automatically chastise any idea that such a player actually "might". If I were to say lets go after Kopitar....the 1st reaction would likely be ..."in your dreams". 2nd reaction....why would he want to come here? and so on, eventually you get to a point where someone asks...is he even available? And the ....we don't have anyone the Kings would want. When can we get to (or better yet, HOW do we get to) the point where we can believe it to happen? Believe it or not it could happen. I want to be able to some day say I'd would love to have similar to a Crosby/Malkin combo without someone saying "it'll never happen", it's a pipedream, or "we could of had that but JBot traded our 2C away"...LOL. When do we get to the point that we say "lets do it" and "what will it take" like it can actually happen?

Why should it be only on Eichel? What about his supporting cast of veteran leadership? Why is everything on Botts and not on ROR? why is everything on PH when no other coach in a long time has been able to resurrect this team from the dead? Somebody said: "but he catastrophically misjudged the center position" Let me fix that......"but he catastrophically misjudged the character at the center position" and should have gotten rid of ROR before last season started. Maybe the return would have been better.

I don't want to argue about the roster last year being worse because it was and you are right about that. However, I know you're just throwing names out there who were actually on the roster, but I think your point could be better argued with examples other than some you are using. The 1st bolded....looks like you're saying Griffith was our 3C last year when in reality he only played 21 games (barely 1/4 season). The 2nd bolded....Tennyson only played 15 games. You mention Falk who played 46g but don't mention Antipin who played 47g (I know it's only 1g but it's 32 more than Tenny). Antipin also had as many points as Nelson, Falk, and Tennyson combined. Another person you mention quite a bit is Moulson....only played in 14 games. I'm not arguing your point and actually agree, just think you could easily better support your position. Hope the rest of your evening is better than the game you watched.
