maybe create like a "favorites" type list thingie?

I agree and think that it shouldn't be to trade Risto, it should be to make a trade that will push Risto to the 2nd pairing.

The point is .....there wasn't any real point. There was a question however to a posted comment that was discerning IMO. My question was just asking for proof of a claim. The intention was in hope that the poster either did some research before the claim, or would do the research and either prove it correct or enlighten them to whatever they find is fact. If there were a so called point, you hopefully wouldn't use a very good player like Dahlin to support your claim that the next 15-20 picks are better than him. But, if you look at 2012 draft when we took Grigorenko, you could almost make a good argument to support your cause. It was the first draft I actually looked at so I'm not cherry picking and honestly don't know if there are others. Remember that this is all hindsight. This fits the bill years later but at the time it was expected to be a great pick at #12 and I don't remember too many people arguing that we should've drafted player XYZ instead at that time. The comment at the time I responded to it, just seemed like a "woe is me" type statement, kind of like when someone says "I won $5,000.00 on a scratch off ticket" and the response is "seems like everyone wins on them but me". Just didn't sit right with me knowing even simple facts about the lottery tickets, like not everyone wins. Sometimes I think of the slots at the casino.....you put in a dollar and pull the handle (or push spin), three cherries come up on the line and it says "You Win $.40" when actually you just lost $.60.

Exactly. Glad to see we're on the same page. The only knock on Grigs was consistant effort which most thought could be coached out of him (hence his being included in the trade).
-
There are a few I looked at that would make a good argument. And like I said you didn't understand the argument in the first place which is proven by your response about Dahlin. You can "tell" me what you want but you can't (and won't) make me believe you know what you're talking about when you obviously don't.
-
looking back further and found you are correct. You responded to a post meant for someone else and I didn't catch that. I sincerely apologize. Our drafting has not been the greatest and is getting better, so it seems. The issue I have with some people is that they look at the now. For example....right now I could say that Grigorenko was pretty much a bust and we should've drafted Mike Matheson. At the time of that draft most were excited that he fell to us at #12 because he was likely at least a top3 pick and was touted as the #1 over Yakapov for most of the year. You get excited when a player falls like that and you get him. Problem is that somehow nobody remembers how the draft went down and how excited they were for their team 5yrs later when they're claiming they knew it all along, or that we always seem to pick the worst players, and other teams get guys after us that are always better. Excuse my rant as it was not meant for your ears but I hope you understand. Hope we're all good and again I apologize and will learn to watch where the response to my post is coming from.

Sabres Trade Deadline Predictions
MakeSabresGrr8Again replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Indeed. See if Duchene can do what ROR couldn't, take this team to another level. -
I wasn't the one questioning the draft. I was the one questioning your claim that 15-20 players drafted after ours are always seemingly better. Asking you too back up your claim was much more "simple" to understand than your unsubstantiated claim. Whatever!! forget it. I was hoping you would prove me wrong and we could solve a team issue, maybe.
-
If JBot didn't get rid of ROR, Dahlin would be much better and have at least 60pts by now. Management has likely ruined him now because he won't win the ROY and has to be the "scape goat" as someone here said. Also, in 6yrs, when Dahlin is still making a dumb play now and again, we can expect to have a TRADE DAHLIN thread to argue about. We'll then trade him to Edmonton to finish his career. On another note.....I read a headline about the Blues and how their turnaround is being attributed to Berube and Bennington. It also, made me laugh when they said they aren't satisfied with the 11 game streak.
-
My question was apparently not meant for big boys like you who don't understand the question and want to proven themselves worthy. You failed terribly and proved my point. The fact is that you shouldn't be able to do that with a player like Dahlin, but what about a guy like Zemgus or Guhle? Any way, the reason for my question was because of the "claim" by the poster that I responded to. He claimed that it was happening (or at least seemed like it was) that 15-20 players drafted behind ours were seemingly better. All I was asking for was proof and not just a mind set.
-
We draft worse than who? Your point was we draft a player and the next 15-20 players drafted are better than the one we drafted. And we were discussing 1st and 2nd rd picks. My question was to show me a draft where every player is better than ours 15-20 spots after our pick. What did you do? You listed all our 3rd-7th rd picks and not even a comparison to any other team in the league. How is that not either deflecting or at least ignoring the context of the question? I was actually hoping you could back up your statement and prove me wrong. I guess we'll just have to wait a couple more years to find out if we hit on the draft. The last couple drafts are looking like they could be game changers.

Scott Cullen retweeted this take about old time hockey

If we re-sign Skinner we would should be Stanley Cup Champs every year in "ballet hockey". -
Your bolded is totally irrelevant to the standings in the NHL. Edmonton drafted..... 2010...Taylor Hall, Tyler Pitlick, Martin Marincin 2011...RNH, Klefbom, David Musil 2012...Yak, mitchell Moroz 2013...Nurse, Marc-Olivier Roy And they sit in 27th place overall Meanwhile, Toronto has drafted... 2010...Brad Ross 2011...Tyler Biggs, Stuart Percy (both 1st dr) 2012...Morgan Rielly, Matt Finn 2013...Fred Gauthier And they sit in 6th place overall We could go on like this all day, the draft is a "crap"shoot. This doesn't even come close to answering my question...deflecting???
-
Tell me which draft that every player drafted after ours for 15-20 spots has developed better than ours. Or were you planning on "cherry picking"?. Also remember that every other team has experienced where players behind theirs in the draft have developed better too. Everyone is questioning Boston's 3 picks recently. You could continually cherry pick on and on and on, all day long.
-
Barzal had Tavares to learn from even if only 1year. Tell me who Jack had to learn from, oh yeah that's right, he got to learn how to be a 2C from ROR.
-
whose expectations? Yours, the guy in the seat next to you, your barber or...?
-
God no....we're becoming Edmonton.
-
I'll play too....Botts should know all that goes on around the NHL, just like he should've known Berglund was gonna walk away from the team and 12Mil.

Trade: Ryan O'Reilly to St Louis Blues
MakeSabresGrr8Again replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
I think an F grade is extremely unreasonable. The trade has been discussed to such a BS status that I won't get into it again. Too many people with too much hindsight, theories, crystal balls, tarot cards, ouiji boards and such without any real facts. Skinner trade was A+ for us....but may have been better for Carolina. They might be in the playoffs and don't have to re-sign Skinner. Gotta wonder if just being closer to home is worth it to Skinner. -
I'd rather trade for a Huberdeau/ Staal/ Hayes/ Coyle/ Duchene/ etc. Not sold on RNH as our 2C. Edmonton needs the same thing the Sabres do.....a new league that's somewhere between the NHL and AHL and is run by Walt Disney.

Just curious as to what people might think...... Berglund--gone KO--out for how long? (maybe retire?) Scandella-- out week-to-week (also believed to be trade bait) Bogo--day-to-day (isn't he always) What we need.... scoring....maybe time to bring up Olofsson/?? A 2C.....trade for??? toughness throughout the line-up......HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP RHD......this is where my question/ curiosity come in.. The player I am about to mention is one of those "I hate him" when he plays for the opposing team. But I think on a short term basis this guy could solve some of our D-woes in our zone and add toughness to the team.......Adam McQuaid. Could get him cheap and teach our young D-boys how to become D-men. I absolutely hated him when he was a Bruin (almost as much as Brad) but would have loved to have him on my team. Calling @DarthEbriate.....Darth McQuaider reporting for duty.
