All fun aside....he sure can agitate the heck out of Ovie. If he could just do that night-in and night-out.

Nobody on this team is better than Risto at sending the message...."I'll hit you and when you get back up I'll give you the puck". LOL

This is from one scouting report on him but most say pretty much the same thing. Offensive Game Vesey has good size, and plays a power forward game. He is a quick skater, with good acceleration and top end speed. Vesey has a powerful stride which allows him to fight through checks and drive to the front of the net. When he gets there, he has the soft hands to finish in close. He can also stand in front of the net, provide a screen and get tip-ins and rebounds. From further out, Vesey has a hard and accurate shot, that he gets off quickly. He protects the puck extremely well, with good stickhandling, and uses his body as a shield to play the cycle game. Vesey is well balanced and hard to knock off the puck or beat in a board battle. Vesey’s playmaking ability is really coming along. One thing he can do is change speeds effectively which he uses to beat defenders wide, or slow up and create some space for a passing or shooting lane. He is a very intelligent player, who makes smart plays with the puck on his stick, and also finds ways to be dangerous without it. Two way game Vesey is also a good defensive player. He again shows high hockey IQ, reading plays well and breaking them up. When he creates a turnover, he is quick to find the streaking man, and start the transition game. He also knows how to get his body into shooting lanes and is not afraid to block shots. Vesey does a lot of the little things that coaches love. He was often given big responsibilities as a key member of the Harvard penalty kill. Now I can't say I've seen any of this.

Rasmus Dahlin has been awesome at everything except...

Are you questioning the ability of a "fancy stat" to tell the whole story? LOL....just kidding, I think. I have a way of doing that (thinking) and my TB4om % is at an all time low right now. FYI.... TB4om is Thinking B4 opening mouth. -
This is what I think is their most value. If they wear down the other teams line and can get a change bringing on the Jack line without losing possession, it's are big plus. That's what they do best.
-
I think they would with any team that has turned it around as we have (so far). It's an opportunity to see what we are doing to make that change and still see what they might want to "pluck" off the roster that could be available.
-
I don't totally disagree with you; however, I don't think you are really seeing the "big picture". Yes his contract is an albatross but how are you going to get rid of it? 1) He is being somewhat useful and can probably move up and down the line-up without really hurting the team. 2) His $6M contract and production are absolutely no worse than Vlad and Vesey whom also combine for ~$6M. I would much rather replace those two than Kyle and help 2 lines get better while leaving one in tact. 3) nearly every team has a bad contract and whipping boys and vets who aren't living up to contract....get used to it. Like i said, I think it would be much better for the team replacing Vesey/ Vlad than KO. Minimizing those replacement players and getting as much out of them as possible is the key. In summary, why worry about KO when it would be nearly impossible to get rid of that contract. It would be easier to ADD to two lines and still could create cap space (through trades or from within). Replace 2 useless players instead of one performing one.

What time does your flight leave?

I don't disagree with you as we stand today (healthy bodies and all). I think Ralph has done a good job with what's available to him. But who's to say that we can't be better when everyone is healthy? When Montour is back I have faith that RK will be able to utilize him the best that he can. If Montour is better than one of the others (which I think he is) then finding a place in the line-up is what will be done. Same with Pilut (but I think he goes down at least for awhile). Having Miller/ Montour/ Risto on the right is not a bad thing. I think that Head Coach Ralph Krueger could adjust or tweak things to accommodate any players available to him and use them properly.
-
I agree and might add 2 things... 1) Ralph didn't give Jack "a bit of a pass", instead he owned it. he said he probably sent Jack out there too soon on another shift. 2) maybe Jack screwed up a bit, but Foligno also made a good play. Every play is not gonna go in your favor for 82 games in a pro league.

What do you need to see before you're totally bought in?

Hoping you never get to see that again. -

Aaaahhhhhh, gotta love a good GDT trying to hit 1,000 posts. Paintings, superstition, curses, Dumb & Dumber, weights & measures, Satan, Stevie Wonder, etc. I'm just trying to paint a picture in my head as to whether or not "fancy stats" are superstition or just a curse, and if Satan were 1lb heavier and/or 1in taller if he would've been a Blue Jacket instead of a Sabre, and can anyone tell me why that song isn't the Buffalo sports teams theme song.

Just say no....to a Colin-oscopy.

It may seem that way, but think about it.... Adding VO might just be like adding another Skinner (and for less than $1M for now). Adding Johansson could very well fill any possible void left from Berglund and pushes Mitts into a much more suited role. I know that not many expected much from Bergy but it's still a bigger move than some people are giving credit for. Is he a Malkin or Couturier or (fill in your favorite 2C)? Maybe not but still fills a much need void even if temporary. Adding MoJo also keeps us from any bad move ...like trying Reinhart at 2C or E-Rod or Heaven forbid Vlad. To me, the only real question is the addition of Vesey. This might turn out at best a Pommer replacement and at worst a place holder until someone "earns" that spot. So while I agree with you that technically they were small changes, they are the type of changes that could pay big dividends. -
JBotts should be fired immediately for this atrocious short-sightedness.
