  1. Or maybe a little of both with some of the rest of the league figuring out how to anticipate his moves thrown in too.
  2. This is hard to answer because like you say, many have not been here for 5yrs (including JBotts and coaches) but i see it a different way. So let me ask you this....how many players have come into this organization that have lived up to expectations and improved this team as much as we hoped? I'd say Skinner and likely Montour, with the verdict still out on Johansson/Joker/ Miller. Not Sheary, Scandella, Vesey, KO, Hutton, Lehner, and the list could go on. Coming to a losing team that is deficient in talent doesn't help them to succeed but the hope is that they help us to be better. So far not too much of that help has arrived and these guys are hopefully placeholders for the guys we ARE developing. I also think that Mitts is coming along, maybe a little slower than some hoped for, but none the less he is developing. Guys like Sheary, Vesey, Scandella, Hutton, KO, etc, these were the guys who should have already been developed before they got here. Then there's ROR who played close to his potential but did he make us better (we were the worst with him)? All we can say for sure is "how bad would we have been without him? Basically, I think we have to wait ( I'll take "What does a Buffalo sports fan do" for $500 Alex) to see how the organization is developing the young players like Cozens, Johnson, Laaksonen(sp?), 6K, Pekar, etc. Hope is that these kids can replace the dormant players on the roster. Some other teams aren't doing much better with all their top picks in recent years either. Oilers seem to be finally making a little noise after seemingly 100 number 1 picks. Devils are meh. The Laffs will never win the cup before us (thanks to the Hockey Gods that we all pray to). Sorry guys....all this talk about not adding talent to the team and I totally forgot about Vlad.
  3. Herexs an interesting read on Lindy Ruf... https://blueseatblogs.com/2019/11/06/as-more-defensemen-succeed-away-from-the-ny-rangers-the-seat-under-lindy-ruff-gets-hotter/amp/ Looks like his seat is prety warm.
  4. If this last for more than 4hrs seek medical attention.
  5. And the puck too.
  6. Maybe they could have the AHL teams play in Sweden Too.
  7. There's people that don't like Him?
  8. I want to come back as a puppy in my next life.
  9. Thanks for the up-dates. Hopefully Asplund will get on a roll.
  10. If I had to choose a format, then I agree with you. I just don't think any system is that much more "fair" than another and really, really don't think the seeding should matter when all 16 teams have the same goal in mind.....get in and win. But I also don't like shootouts and the loser points either.
  11. Nope.
  12. Were they the right side or the left side? I prefer the right side myself.
  13. I remember reading an article once about Karlsson. He was putting up the offensive numbers but defensively he was not that good. His coach (not sure which one) told him to try concentrating on his defensive game and that the offensive opportunities will still come. It mostly worked for him. By trying to force the play instead of waiting for the opportunities to happen creates turnovers. Timing is the key.
  14. I don't think the "active-D approach" was as much a problem last night as the "inactive-F approach" was, as evidenced with the 4-on-1. Forwards are supposed to cover for the D when they press. Last night we had the added need to press because we were behind the whole game, which complicated things even more.
  15. Like I said in my previous post.....it really all boils down to play your best where ever you are seeded if you want to win. Simple concept. You use the words "chance" and "revenue" as if they really mean something special. Get in and you have a chance. Get in and play your best and the revenue will come in the same way whether you beat the #1 seed or the #16 seed. Sure you want to be #1 and play much lower seeds in progression but look at Tampa last year and others highly seeded teams of just about any year. There almost always seems to be an upset or more every year. So does it really matter that much? Some years it's injuries. Some , just bad luck/officiating. Some, being out coached/ classed. Let the chips fall where they may and just play like it means something. Revenue shouldn't be higher on the list than the fan experience, as it's the fans that create that revenue. Put a good product out there and the fans will be glad to support it.
  16. Great work on the charts @Randall Flagg as usual. Here's my personal take on the playoffs.....you're in it to win it. That's the goal no matter how you do it. If you're gonna play with the big boys then act like one. To win it all you will have to be the last one standing whether you go in at seed #1, #5, #10, #16 or anywhere in between. It shouldn't matter because winning is the ultimate goal and you have to win each round no matter whom the opponent is. If you're a #2 and you play #15 or #2 and play #5 in round one, you either beat a lower seed (and the run becomes tougher as you go along) or you beat a higher seed (which could make the run easier going forward). Personally, I'd rather meet the tougher opponent first and get them out of the way early. Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs anyway and you can ask teams like Tampa, Caps, Flames, etc. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. You can also argue that circumstances during the season (such as injuries/trades/player development) could have a team seeded at #16 that is actually a better team than any of the above teams because maybe they are healthy going in and vice versa. If the players don't play to win they won't have a chance. Go Sabres....and I promise I won't cry about where you are seeded when you make it.
  17. Just responding to the topic at hand....never said they "should ".They're just suggestions based on the conversation. I am more inclined to agree with you.
  18. 25/22/19 .....so not quite. However, the 25g year was in only 67games and the 19g year was in 68 games.
  19. The only thing I can say is.....how often does the possible need for this kind of move happen and the team has the ability to do it?
  20. But do we? Right now Joker and Gilmour look better and our depth at D has brought this conversation to the fore-front. Dahlin is most suited to make that move than any of our D. It could temporarily solve a position of need and not likely hurt the D as much. Risto's size and strength are needed more on D. Dahlin would still get time on the PP.
  21. I think that lately Dahlin's defense has been more suspect than anyone's. He played center before and is very offensive minded......move Mitts to wing in Vesey's spot and try Dahlin at C. Out of all our D he would be the one I'd like to see at a forward position. You could probably put him on the wing as Sheary can play either side and leave Mitts at C. Knowing from the time he was drafted that he was a C before he became a D has made me want to see him tried at a forward position, more or less just for s***ts and giggles.
  22. If your decision is based in wanting to show appreciation to SabreSpacers, I honestly would think that nobody would think Schoenfeld isn't what you should get. It's all about you and the fight you have under-gone and I don't think anyone wouldn't like that better, seeing you have what means so much to you. That's what it's all about, making you feel good about yourself and knowing others feel your pain and suffering even if they don't know you on a personal level. We've had our issues in the past but I honestly would like to take the opportunity to say that I hold no grudges and truly was raised well and hope all is well with you and family for many years to come. Looking forward to seeing your posts on here for a long time.
  23. I'd like to see Asplund called up for the Sweden trip also and to see if he could be an upgrade to Vesey. He has good speed and defensively sound with offensive upside.
