  1. Well Ruff has been around since they hired him but I get your point. So could be, maybe they know internally. Time will tell. "not found" I stand corrected.
  2. First day of camp it should be done. This shouldn't be about some for the fans announcement at the end of camp, it should have been done before camp or at least at the start of camp. Set up the leadership and have them start amplifying Ruff's words and setting the tone. If this team wants to become a truly competitive team this shouldn't be about an honour or a reward, it should be about leaders who will work their ***** off and begin holding people accountable. I'm tired of waiting, I want a serious hockey team and I want it NOW.
  3. This should be done by now.
  4. No they won't. They will go with Bussi and Korpisalo. Matter of fact B's fans are worried of losing Bussi should Swayman be there. Marchand is also not ready after 3 off season surgeries. There's your window if Sabres can start strong.
  5. pulled a muscle. Probably nothing.
  6. Ruff just looking for possible line chemistry.
  7. Now we can wait for the conspiracy theories that he had an off season injury from training and he faked it until camp.
  8. Strange Krebs is starting at 3C but maybe that's just day 1 etiquette. He ended last year as 3C so it's his job to lose, and he probably will lose it as McLeod is better than Krebs but it gives the concept of competition legitimacy.
  9. Okay, fair enough. I don't think very highly of that depth but that is what it is.
  10. 5'9" and 160 lbs, he'll fit right in. 🙂
  11. I sure hope it's not the 3 headed monster. Unless Reimer absolutely sucks for them Levi should start the season as Rochester's starter and if his play warrants it he comes up later (or for injuries)
  12. If Krebs is 13th man Adams definitely just overpaid him. I'm not sure what you're arguing really. None of these guys has shown any NHL ability at all. If Kulich plays well in NHL preseason games and you keep him down so that you save a place for Rousek that's a dumb organization. If Kulich is ready he's ready and he looks better than Rousek did last year imo so he gets a shot if he keeps earning it. I couldn't care less if that hurts Rousek's feelings (not saying it would, but I see no reason to assume he's up next).
  13. Yes yes, you and your thumbs down, same old same old. We've had this discussion numerous times and I've always had to explain that "big" and playing big are two different things and "big" doesn't necessarily mean tough and so on. You throw height stats out and claim they're a "big" team and yet they've always been seen as soft and even laughed at by opponents. Dylan Cozens is taller than Garnet Hathaway, Dylan is "big" for you. This gets really tiresome from you. Get back to me when Sabres play "big".
  14. I totally disagree with this but it's a really long conversation that probably should be saved for a time when Ruff fails/succeeds. At that point we can get into it in depth if you want. Might be premature right now but I firmly believe that coaching matters - a LOT.
  15. If Lindy can't bring something new and extra we are in trouble. Granato was a good hockey mind and arguably capable as well but they needed more.
  16. I do love how his AAV had to be 87 Don't know if he's superstitious or just a millionaire having fun with huge numbers but it's pretty amusing. I'm also absolutely sure that after he retires he will be up in that box or named "President" or something elevated like Mario, He's a fixture.
  17. semi-serious, not fully serious. I do think that camp should be competitive and the resounding words from the top should be "nobody will be handed anything", "you have to earn your spot", "it's an open competition" EVEN IF THIS ISN'T TRUE. I have a bit of an issue with Adams suggesting it's already decided. It's a bad idea when you are trying to build a new culture. It shifts things back to a "we are really talented, all we need is a better coach" rather than "we need a new attitude to go along with our talent". idk, season hasn't started yet and I'm just being skeptical. We shall see what Lindy actually does. I am waiting to see if he's still Lindy or if he's just an old burned out guy living off his past laurels who has lost his edge while he gained his arthritis. I'm hopeful, but I think it all hangs by a thread.
  18. Ya E-Rod was pretty amazing wasn't he? Where'd he start his career, I forget........... Little guys can function when either they are tenacious and strong (Benson) or they are surrounded with a tough support system. You really want to argue that E-Rod would have been as effective on the Sabres as he was between Bennett and Tkachuk?
  19. The one sentence I fully agree with is the last one. It's just a prospects tournament and ultimately doesn't mean that much. Still, certain guys can pop out for you and others just look like prospects, maybe yes, maybe no, needs work overall. Kulich obviously will press for an NHL spot and if he doesn't make it should be a star in Rochester. Nobody else jumped out for me as a guy even who has everything but one missing thing, in pother words close. The D was especially not impressive and I found Johnson to be disappointing. He's not ready. Will he ever be? No idea, but he's not ready now. The thing about having a prospect pool is it doesn't matter how large it is, what matters is if you can graduate 1 or 2 a year to keep the age of your team from getting too old. You don't need a lot of prospects, you just need the ones that can fill any holes you have on the roster. If we run into injury trouble we have 1 guy who might be NHL ready, Kulich. Everything else will be a drop off.
  20. Small guys need a tenacity that I just don't see. Now he's young and he can grow and develop and evolve in a direction where he finds a way, so you never give up at this age, but for the moment I don't see it. Benson, you could see pretty quickly that here was a smaller guy who plays hard and has this squat low presence where he could evolve into a Fleury or a St. Louis and definitely be an NHL star even. Östlund isn't anything like that. But give it time. Things can change.
  21. Not much. Yamamoto's on a PTO. Honestly I'd like to have a team that Tyler Ennis couldn't play on. But we shall see. We might end up with a place for one or two little guys, but I kind of hope not.
  22. Agree with all this except the Peca comparison. Don't see that at all.
  23. You should be able to do both things but yes, it's obviously already preset, which is probably why they have a Krebs issue. He doesn't want to be 13th man.
  24. Busy concert season. Johnny Marr & James on Friday, Fontaines D.C. on Sunday, The National with The War On Drugs on Oct 2 and just got tickets for Nick Cave in May!
  25. I don't see him in the NHL unless he puts on some major weight and muscle. He will not break through an NHL defense the way he plays.
