  1. Well I personally didn't want any of those 3 but after he was drafted I did expect Reinhart to be a 31 C that is true but like many, I wanted Draisaitl. For Nylander, I wanted McAvoy, 2nd choice Sergachev. Instead of Casey I think I wanted Cal Foote. Don't remember. Our D still sucked at that point so i think it was him. As for the 5'9 guy, wasn't Briere that?
  2. What a dilemma, possibly having too much talent on the roster. Personally I don't think it'll be an issue. Somebody will step up and somebody will disappoint and move down and it'll all shake out fine. Also not worried about who the Kraken takes. If we end up with surplus talent at that time, oh well, we lose one, we have a surplus............... Adding Hall has certainly changed the conversation, but I have to hold back my excitement. Something always seems to go wrong but fingers crossed.
  3. Where do you think he would have gone, Detroit? idk, I think if you approach the player the right way and explain it he'd have no problem with it and he'd have enjoyed a possible cup run instead of a sad locker clean out. and if not, you give the money to somebody else. You simply never let yourself get squeezed or assume they'll stick with you. Tavares, Hall, nobody much has any real loyalty any more. Its very rare.
  4. I suppose the devil would be in the details wouldn't it? Many factors to consider, especially how realistic your chances are.
  5. I'd be shocked if that happened.
  6. I was talking about trading him when he wasn't signed at that deadline. By not trading him JBot put himself in a very very bad bargaining position and Skinner's agent took advantage of that. If he'd been dealt (we weren't making the playoffs that year regardless) we'd have some extra picks and prospects and then we still could have negotiated in free agency and signed him to probably less. No one, absolutely no one was going to give him money near what he got from JBot so he would have still come back. win win. If we are on the bubble for playoffs this year as much as I'd like to make them if we can get huge returns for Hall, or other 1 year and pending UFAs at the deadline I'd make those deals too, and then again, sign them back or others after the season. That'd build a franchise for the long term not just one playoff round or so. Arizona kept Hall and got to play a round of bubble hockey but they'd have been better off to get something for him.
  7. So weird for leaves to be falling and frost hitting the ground and it's the off season for hockey.............
  8. Well in a way yes, it's just about winning, but everyone knows if you add too many of those overpaid players you're going to be screwed. Skinner at his price, was a mistake. If we'd traded him at the deadline we'd have another prospect(s) and lots of money to sign whoever or offer sheet or just pay a bunch of other guys. We'll see what Hall does for us. That's the bigger question.
  9. IF, he does, that's fine, but he definitely can struggle when he doesn't and runs around caught out of position too often leaving the burden on the goalie and his partner who are the ones that get noticed more when the goal goes in. I suppose we will see, and maybe with better forwards he won't be an issue the same way, but I have to see it before I start to believe.
  10. Is Tage really up to 230? If so, and if he ever starts to actually use his size he might be good, but he needs to start using it. Cozens might be a "boy" but he's a lot feistier and gives you a little snarl. he has some similarities to Jake Virtanen, but with even more skill. What was Reinhart when he first started playing for us? He's not much heavier than Cozens now I think. Cozens will get bigger in time, but I think he will be big enough now.
  11. The overpayment comes in based on the number he got. I don't measure D men by their offensive output, but by their defensive abilities. never liked that whole Housley 5 forwards type of thing that Montour was brought in for. I want guys who help keep the puck out of the net and let the forwards do their job. I really don't consider Montour much better than Bogo was, if at all, and for a 5/6 D man (which if he's any higher our D is not good enough) it's a lot of money.
  12. Even if he scores 30 goals he will still be overpaid in the new economy. I'm interested to see what and where Hoffman ends up playing. Another 30 goal scorer with attitude problems, hard to coach, and an even greater defensive liability than Skinner (who is bad). I suspect it'll end up being a lower 1 year number. If Skinner scores 30 goals, he helps, but not at his price, and not if he takes dumb selfish penalties and/or pouts.
  13. I know you're not equating them, but I just want to stress Cozens and Tage are world's apart. Cozens will be playing with Staal, he will go to the net, he will impress quickly, and he will be far far better than Reinhart on that wing. He will also transition to Staal's spot in a year or two and be a dominant player. Mark my words. Tage? Third line at best, maybe for the Kraken. Just not impressed.
  14. JBot WAS doing a good job with the cap, certainly better than his predecessor, UNTIL he panicked and got Skinnered. A couple years from now the bitching about how that contract screwed our cap will be endless. Before we praise Adams genius too much though, it's just about every team doing this, so it's not like he's special. It's just timing and the current situation. I think he grossly overpaid Montour and gave Girgensens a little too much before he caught on. So maybe what you can say is he learns quickly. Maybe.
  15. It's nice to finally have some future prospects making people take notice.
  16. Reasonable number, and 1 year has become the norm around the league with the uncertainty. I hope we get a good year out of this. Next year's team could be similar or completely different again. Impossible to predict.
  17. Does he though? Given this climate, where was he going to get more than this?
  18. That one is high for who he is isn't it? I suspect they knew they were losing Larsson and wanted to make sure they didn't lose both, but still, he seems overpaid. He needs to earn it. The Reinhart number is a good one. The one year, as others have said, reflects the climate and league uncertainty and also the question of (maybe) next year who do you want more him or Hall and maybe you can't pay both. Free agency next year is going to be crazy.
  19. and yet the link remains...........
  20. Honestly I don't care about either side and their money woes. They're ALL rich. I buy my tv package, I've made my contribution, if the price goes too high I'm out. imo if it all gets out of hand just reduce it all by a percentage and carry on.
  21. Usually, D men take longer to reach their peak. I would expect Dahlin to be at Hedman level or thereabouts around his 5th year. Mitts needs a reset and a new attitude. If he ever starts working and trying to improve, his natural talents might still be salvageable.
  22. Well I can't talk about Uganda, but I'm simply saying not all countries are the same.
  23. Maybe, but certainly not much more if even that. Georgiev got 2.425 from the Rangers and their stats and situations are pretty similar.
  24. I doubt they'd walk away, absolutely, but if the number is too high they might want to test the trade market.
  25. Sorry, that's an insular view. It's wtf happened to the U.S.A. not the world, although I know some (not saying you, I don't know you), but some Americans have trouble thinking there is anything outside their borders. Perhaps that's it? Ya'll went to sleep and let the lunatics take over the asylum.
