I'm recording it to watch over dinner.

Mitts signed to a one year contract for $874k
PerreaultForever replied to I-90 W's topic in The Aud Club
Slightly more than what Frolik just got from Montreal, so it seems about right. -
Laughs, Montreal, Boston, Philly, Pitt, Detroit, and don't care so Ottawa. and it's mostly for hate.

It's not their D, it's the way the whole team back checks and plays D, and their goaltending. We saw in the bubble, without Rask they were not all that.

That's true. There's also concern in the medical community of big spikes in cancer deaths after this is all over. People not getting the early detections and screenings due to overloaded hospitals, not to mention all the cancelled surgeries that have just left people in pain or lacking mobility etc. Just looking at the direct covid numbers doesn't give a full picture of the toll.

For the legit paying customers, I hope it's a reduced rate with only 56 games. Not that I have anything else to spend my money on anyway................

I think a lot of this season will depend on how motivated players are. That goes for all teams. How many guys will have Tukka Rask mentalities (thinking of the bubble) and just want to fulfill their obligations and get back home and how many guys will be into it. With a lot of youth on the roster will they focus on hockey cause the world offers them few places to go party in or will they go out and get the whole team sick? It's going to be an odd one and I wonder how the league will handle it if any team has half their roster test positive at any time. Will the physicality be at an all time low? I'm thinking maybe. One thing I think we know for sure, Marchand won't be allowed to lick anybody.

NHL Season Start Date: January 13, 2021

I would think Washington would be talking to them as well. -
Yup. and that would be why it would be impossible to try to use it. We'd have to back it up immediately. Can you imagine what happens if we did that and then somebody like Marchand scored the opening goal and we lost the game? We'd be ridiculed league wide and the joke meme of the sportsworld. By the way, I think they lost this year. It was a big scandal down under.

watch for signs of the nanobots taking control 🙂

Well if that's the case, with no wild cards, I don't see us making the playoffs. Arguably it's the toughest division and we might be better than numerous teams in the 2nd group (aside from Tampa) and we'd probably be right in the thick of it among the Canadian grouping but can we really be better than Pittsburgh, Boston and Washington? Philly would have to have a big drop off and/or the islanders but with their coaching they are always there so I'd say slim hopes at best. Top 2 plus wildcards and I think we're in for sure. Maybe even top 3 like usual.

I dunno. We should be a much better team than last year, but with those proposed divisions, we should be ahead of NJ and maybe the Rangers but unless Pittsburgh or Boston drops it's going to be a tough road How many teams are making the playoffs anyway and how many from each division?

maybe not at the deadline, but otherwise 2 weeks is not a huge deal if you're looking at playoff value, and if you're building for next season 2 weeks doesn't really matter either. In fact it might be desirable. -
Will temp realignment cause more fighting?
PerreaultForever replied to I-90 W's topic in The Aud Club
kids today................ 🙂 I don't think there will be more fighting. Short season, I expect it'll be a little sloppy at first and then the points will be too important for teams to get chippy. Going to be really important to get on an early roll. -

Nice idea but I haven't heard anything like it. I think Pfizer's just going to make more money with inflated private sales to whatever rich person (or sports league) wants it. -
A burn for sure, misguided I think not. The difference between these two guys is like night and day. Unless Casey changes his attitude entirely he will not make this team or any other for any length of time despite his given talents. Cozens on the other hand will be an all star and team leader in a few years. I guarantee it.

How well did teams do with drafting in the 5th round?
PerreaultForever replied to Zamboni's topic in The Aud Club
big miss on Gallagher. Sutch a waste there. Couple grit guys we could have used, Matt Martin, Gaudette. Maybe Anders Bjork but I think the jury's still out on him. -
Probably, but it's still a guess. Nobody knows how long it will last at this point. Could be a few months could be for life. I'm no expert but I would think (logically) if you got it and you were one of the people that got over it without ending up in an ICU etc. then you're probably pretty safe and good to go. There is still the issue of being contagious though. They still don't know if people who had it can still carry it and spread it to those who haven't had it.

NHL Investigating placing ads on players helmets
PerreaultForever replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I don't like it either, but the same sort of sentiments were pretty much all over when they copied the Euros and put ads on the boards. Eventually everybody got used to them and now nobody cares. It'll be the same with this. Uniforms will end up looking like nascar. Wonder if it'll be league wide sales or local? Will it be ads for Budweiser or Buffalo Wing Kings?
