I still don't understand why people think Ralph has power? He was a JBot hire and he will be let go, just a question of whether or not it's earlier than later but he won't be the coach next year. They will likely attempt to sell us on the usual new coach crap for a new year. Adams hires his coach and if he fails maybe another or maybe him and his coach go, it's a tired tune.

I watched the game. As soon as the hit was delivered Wagner took Wilson to the ice and basically bashed his face into the ice (he got a nice cut on his nose) but he didn't drop them right there because they wanted the major penalty I think they assumed they'd get. When they didn't, they took on Wilson (a big tough guy) first chance they got and then came at the Caps with numerous hits on Ovi and Oshie and others. They were relentless and scored 3 goals while Wilson was in the box for the fight. And as I mentioned Bergeron skated over to salute Tinordi while they drove up the score. Then Frederick took on Wilson again in the 3rd since the refs for some reason felt it was a good idea to keep Wilson in the game lol. The hitting in that game was as I said, relentless. It was absolutely nothing like a Sabres response. Hence, your depiction is misleading. Bruins came together, as they do, and Tinordi in his second game became a team and fan favourite already. We are so far from that it's like our sorry lot are minor leaguers (except for one or two like Cozens who haven't learned to play Sabres hockey yet).

Ya, but we could have. Bruins got him off waivers. With Borgen and McCabe injured I do not understand why we did not snap him up first. Washington poked the bear and the bear bit back hard. And, although I know the nice manners new crowd won't get this, but talk about leadership! Tinordi fights Wilson, Bergeron scores and goes by the penalty box and taps the glass for Tinordi. I know many people won't get that gesture, but believe me, that is the kind of thing that unites and fires up a team to be a team. Krueger should make the Sabres watch this game over and over and over until they find their hearts. Sorry, your depiction is dead wrong. They answered in spades.

Friday 3/5: Adams to Speak to Media at 4:30

But, much like the team on the ice, he hasn't actually done anything. -
OK Mr. Adams, Do Something Already!

He's angry. We should be angry. He's gonna fix it. lol. -
Ralph Krueger needs to go - like yesterday.

Not buying it. Three coaches, three systems, same results. This team lacks heart and no coach can teach that. Besides how is it the system? This team doesn't go to the net and doesn't defend in front of their net. That's not by design. The system doesn't say stay away from their net and play soft in front of ours. -

Krueger's latest comments tell me he has absolutely no answer. His positive motivation approach has failed and he doesn't have a plan B. I don't actually believe there is any coach that can motivate this bunch, I'd prefer selling off the core but the starting point has to be an experienced hockey coach with a solid work ethic approach as a rock solid foundation and then anyone who doesn't respond or buy into that gets shipped out of town as soon as possible. -
How bad is it? The Sabres compared to the Tank
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I really don't buy into this tough division crap. It's loser excuse talk. We're not playing Toronto, Tampa, Florida. We don't have to go to Colorado or Vegas. We don't have long west coast road trips. It's total rubbish. We have no excuse. The tank stripped away any talent we had (very little) but this team has the so called talent. What has been stripped away is any semblance of effort or desire. -

I'd say it was the Cleveland Browns, but now they've come out of it finally so I think you're right, it's the Sabres. -
Can we put Skinner on LTIR for the rest of his contract? Permanently bruised ego or something?
-
Sutter.
-
Agreed. I actually like some of what I see in Bryson. He needs more development and should be brought along slowly, but I see potential there and parts of his game are already better than Montour's imo. I personally would have snagged Tinordi before the Bruins did but am indifferent to Guhle.

Maybe you will, maybe many will, but I won't. I've been a Sabres fan for about 45 years but I'm just about done. I didn't bother with an NHL TV package this year. Still own 1 jersey but wouldn't buy a new anything even if it's on sale. Don't live in Buffalo so tickets aren't an issue but I won't go see them in Vancouver or Seattle. I almost nod off in games now. Losing more and more interest. It's pointless. I'm giving this off season a chance, but if we go into next year with this same "core" I am seriously considering dropping them for good. Too old to really embrace a new team, although I might try Seattle since they're close to my home. Probably not though, just casually watch good games. We shall see. It's sad that last year we had "JBot do something" and now here we are again. -
We had the chance. I mean maybe they were asked and weren't interested (but I doubt it) but the timing was right for both of them.
-
against a team that was barely breaking a sweat.
-
Well good on Florida, no wonder they're improving fast. Hired an experienced coach and a senior advisor as we should have.
-
I don't think anybody has really brought their A game playing us. You take the Islanders tonight, they were laughing on their bench in the first period and pretty much coasting through most of the game. It is very easy to shut us down with simple basic defense. The only thing we have going for us is teams don't want to take penalties so they play a basic non physical game.
-
I missed that one. When did he take that job?
-
I'm starting to move from disliking this team to actually hating them.
-
That's my curiosity too. Will they step up after that or at least did the contrast between their effort and his passion embarrass them into trying a little harder. I suspect it didn't, but I hope it did.
-
All of this is too vague and uncertain for me to get excited over. i can only hope the Pegulas have finally realized they do not know what it takes and will step back and turn it over to a hockey guy. If that's it I still say Rick Dudley. All I know right now is it's only 5 weeks until the trade deadline and Adams should start moving out bodies soon. If he waits until the deadline he will get less. This season is hopeless.
-
That was a soft goal he should have stopped for sure, but you're forgetting he also made a killer stop on a sure goal in the third. I'm not defending Hutton, he's not a good goalie, but aside from a new Hasak who could steal us games we don't deserve to win it's not that easy a fix. If we were losing games 5-4, or 7-6 I might jump on that bandwagon, but come on, Philly shut us out TWICE. No goalie is going to help you with that. If you believe the effort level on this team is good enough to win, I think you need to stop drinking the kool aid and spend some time watching other teams to remember what it takes.
-
Watching the Bruins Caps game right now and it is the antithesis of Sabres hockey. Both teams checking incredibly well, playing hard. If this was an actual playoff game it's one of those ones you think could last 6 periods or more. We have zero chance of generating offense against either of these teams the way we play.
-
So let me get this straight. The logic is that if we somehow had a better goalie and a 2C (wasn't that supposed to be Staal?) then the rest of these lazy soft losers will suddenly rise to the occasion and play proper hockey and everything will be fine? Really? Or in other words all we need is a guy like Ryan O'Reilly and maybe a goalie like say Robin Lehner.......................................... Sorry, the argument doesn't hold up. It's not that simple.

I disagree with the rebuild idea. We have to have the time because this core is rotten and I'm tired, like many fans, of waiting for these guys to step up. Get rid of them before they ruin Cozens too. It will however, be a difficult year to assess talent properly and some gambling will occur. I'd trade for more top prospects than picks in the rebuild idea. You make a deal with Florida for example you get one of their goalie prospects, Byfield if LA, things like that. Players closer and more likely to be something. key factor would be trade for character guys like Cozens and not talented floaters.
