  1. I get that. We could. But we also have to understand that not many are going to be happy being sent here until we start showing signs of life. I mean if you were a player (other than maybe a local boy or St. Catherines etc.) would you be happy getting traded to Buffalo, dead last team? Only guys who need ice time and career reboots (Lazar types) are going to relish the opportunity. KA would have to be granted permission to talk to them prior to the trade imo. No way do you want to risk trading one disgruntled superstar for a guy who doesn't want to really come here. He'd have to be absolutely sure.
  2. They've been like that for most of the playoffs. Just kind of hang around, hang around, and then strong finish for end of third or OT. Tampa likely wins still but game 7 anything can happen.
  3. ya, so looking at the title here, this should be announced........................now?
  4. As much as I like Cirelli as a player I'm not sure bringing in a guy sitting on top of the world (likely 2 cup winner) and sending him to the bottom of the league is going to land well on him and motivate him to give his all. Maybe, I suppose it depends on his personality, but I think it's risky. Dealing for young guys from lower teams like LA and Anaheim might be the smarter play.
  5. Exactly what I don't want. No ROR V2. Fresh and young and let them grow as a group.
  6. Oh no, that's all I wanted to know. We pick first and I've been in on Power all the way but it has just seemed like you preferred other players. So basically no argument or discussion needed unless we snag another top pick in a deal.
  7. Maybe for Eichel, but what about Merzlikins and their 1st for Reinhart? Or something similar. More rumours around about Chicago. I have to admit the idea of Dach coming here in some package gets me a little excited. The current rumours also have the Eichel price way too high (saying as many as 6 picks and players as a return) for most and I assume KA is just negotiating and the expansion draft deadline plays into things.
  8. So to be clear, you truly think Eklund will be a greater impact plyer than Power for whichever team drafts them? If you were KA you would draft.......Eklund? Beniers? But NOT Power? Is that correct?
  9. Ideally I want them to sign 2 goalies that can compete and split the season unless one ascends. These would be a good twosome. One of them and Ullmark is another option but I am not paying Ullmark huge starter money. I just don't value him that high. One way or another (not necessarily a Sam trade, but who knows, maybe a piece we get in an Eichel trade shipped sideways in a 3 way) I too would love to get Merzlikins but I would add one of the 3 above to pair with him and keep UPL in Rochester for one more full season. The following year he can compete for a spot and if he bumps somebody out so be it. Trade them or whatever. Too many goalies is a luxury not a problem.
  10. Ya, idk where this is coming from. We said it that way in Ontario too. We have the same what happens in Vaygus stays in Vaygus jokes and so forth. Never hear it said Vahgus.
  11. Sad day.
  12. That first sentence is just BS. Every single commentator and analyst was impressed with Power in that tournament so you go on being unimpressed it's fine. As to need, I'm going to counter that with the obvious to anyone outside of Buffalo, the Sabres need EVERYTHING!
  13. Okay there's too much in here to keep things on topic if I address each point. So I'm just going to give a few main points. 1. pretty much everything Taro said already. 2. It's never JUST about size, but size definitely helps. 3. You can always casually say look at the great goalie, but you will almost never see a great goalie advance without a solid D in front of him. (Hasek might have been the exception). You take a guy like Lehner. He still lacks in his rebound control but with a solid D in front of him he gains confidence, gets more aggressive, takes chances and thus looks phenomenal. If his D is weak, he gets conservative, he second guesses, tries to do too much, and he falls apart . To a lesser xtent this is true for almost every goalie out there, even Carey Price. 4. Did you see 18 year old not filled out Power at the world's? Kid was consistent and one of Canada's best players on a gold medal team. Logged big minutes. What about that do you not think the Sabres desperately need?????????????????
  14. Well he's not playing any more is he....................... Seriously though, no he doesn't, but we already have Dahlin. Power will be able to log big minutes and solidify the defensive side of things. With the two of them on our D the entire back end will look much better in a few years, maybe right away.
  15. I would take that. I always liked him as a player. We could use that for sure.
  16. That's a positional thing with Power. As a D man he has to be bigger to be truly effective at an NHL level. Your choices are potentially good players, there's little doubt, but Power will be dominant. Pieterangelo on Vegas and even Weber on Montreal should give you all the convincing you need. Take either away from their team and they're not playing in these playoffs at this point.
  17. This is what me and some others around here have been preaching for years. Is management finally figuring it out??????? See now, what IF Terry was watching the Bills, especially their D, saw the compete, saw it translate to wins and it suddenly dawned on him. Hey Kev, he said, I want THAT, but on skates. Get me that. It's possible.
  18. Oh I know what you were thinking. I've visited Seattle a few times. I enjoyed it, but junkies everywhere. Still, less piss on the sidewalks than Portland.
  19. Exactly. I actually think that's pretty good marketing. Can't wait for Grunge hockey.
  20. That's fair. I was just thinking of the comparison to JBot. At this point it's too early to judge Adams but I think it's safe to say JBot and his staff drafted better than Murray. Not great, but better.
  21. 2 top picks in that are okay so still better than 2016. Or 2015 for that matter (after the obvious Eichel pick). So many bad drafts to choose from...........
  22. Maybe you're right, but you can't compare NHL to NFL NFL is a much more valuable commodity. Well idk, but it's the Sabres, so the value is probably a little less than 49cents.
  23. Forbes has the Sabres value (last year) at 385 million. So I think your number is a little high.
  24. Oh don't tease me like this......................
  25. This notion of "blowing it up" is silly to me. What exactly are we blowing up? There's nothing to "blow up". It's a big bag of ***** that's DEAD LAST in the league again. What exactly are you so desperate to hang on to??????? I don't want to get rid of anybody young. Just the old rotten core that has given us absolutely NOTHING and is not committed to being here or the team. You can debate who's fault that is but it doesn't matter. It is what it is, there is no foundation to build off of and there is simply no choice but to start over UNLESS you enjoy being dead last and want another decade of it. I don't.
