  1. lol, yes it's always coaching...............blame the interim guy now. Come on man.
  2. Well it's hard to compare eras and circumstances but we are poised to have the longest winless streak ever and there's nothing special to tank for compared to Pitt with Sid so I think it's the worst ever. Hard to argue against that.
  3. Is that not a professional athlete's own responsibility?
  4. Well they played the third like they were trying to win a hockey game and we played it like we were trying to defend a tie and go to OT. Suppose that's what happens when you have the losing mentality. Bruins are an offensively challenged hockey team. They are strong on the puck and the wall and still control a game well but most of their team has little scoring finish. Their young players aside from McAvoy clearly not as good as the aging core. I suspect they go out first round. Fortunately for them, we are even more offensively challenged. Still, this felt more like a real hockey game so that's something. Small, but still something.
  5. It's going to be a draft pick and we will have to retain salary to make it a decent one. Big question mark for me is what we get for Montour? Depth D men are sought after by playoff teams but Montour is Montour so ???
  6. dis is too hard for me to remember and too involved to research 🙂 Perreault is obviously the top pick. 2nd round maybe Craig Ramsey and then 3rd round Bill Hajt I mean 1971 dat's how you build a team 1 (Martin), 2, 3 all hits with long term Sabres. Brian Campbell 6th round. Christian Ruuttu 7th round, dat was a good one. Krupp round 11 crazy good pick.
  7. Well the idea dat he was an adequate fill in until Cozens was ready to be 2C was delusional at best. Look at us now with Eichel out Cozens, a raw rookie is our best C. dat's a sad state of affairs.
  8. Oh I agree. Johanson's a solid third liner. He was pretty good in dat role in Boston but he's not much higher up the line up. I bet Montreal tries to pair Staal with Perry on some sort of 4th line with playoff ideas (unless they flip him). Staal's a 4th liner at best now.
  9. so there are people dat would still pay money to see dis?
  10. dat's what I was thinking after Scandella. Watch them flip him at the deadline for more. Yup. Saw a clip of him on the bench in Minn laughing and smiling, having a grand old time............
  11. Yup. dat's the rebuild model I've been pointing to all year. Tear it all down (they were a mess), rebuild the culture first, then add the talent into dat culture. Ottawa still lacks the talent to win many nights but they work hard, they stand up for each other, they don't quit, they are a team. dat's the start of good things in the future.
  12. There's no question he's not doing worse than many of the other freeloaders on the roster but saying he doesn't suck any worse than others isn't the same as saying look how he stepped up and filled the void when the captain went down. This has been my point for quite a while. There is absolutely zero leadership from the core and thus, the core has to go. There is no alternative for future success.
  13. 1 assist in the last 8 games. That's called stepping up Sabres style.
  14. and that post was wrong.
  15. There's virtually nothing to scorch.
  16. I only saw the third period. Usual pile of crap. Nice play by Cozens on the almost goal, if not for Skinner being his usual lazy self at the blueline. So Reinhart fans, what's he done since Jack went out of the line up - again? Come on tell me how great he is I dare ya. Team is a pile of crap. Trade everybody but Cozens and start over.
  17. lol, less than zero chance Housley returns here as an assistant after being run out of town as the head man. Not related to the SHG but Dahlin has simply been developed poorly by this organization. He isn't the fastest guy out there, that is true, but he's not overly slow for a typical defender either. The team had to recognize this lack of speed and brought him in slower, taught him defense at this level, taught him proper body positioning and with less minutes and pressure give him the tools for proper decision making related to his skill set. He also needed (and still needs) to be a lot stronger. The raw talent was there and maybe still is, but all of that failure is on the team and the organization. Also, and this is very important, Dahlin (and the entire D really) takes all the heat for the goals allowed but in many cases, like on their first goal, it's really the fault of the forwards and the team play. All too often no forwards seem to have the awareness to cover for D men trapped or delayed on a rush. There's very little rotation, very little team play. Everybody is a Skinner styled (he's one of the worst at this) individual and when one player makes a mistake or over reaches on a play there is nobody to help him.. The entire team is all too often caught our of position or just waiting for somebody else to do the work. We see the D man or the goalie at the point of goal, but the play would have never happened if we played like a proper team.
  18. I might not bother tonight.
  19. "unlucky" right, that's it. sure.
  20. tv too. Sportscentre with Jay and Dan is just Jay now (for example).
  21. I seem to remember talk like that when they first bought the team. Alumni involvement. and then they just spelt their names wrong on cheapo jerseys.
  22. Fair enough. No argument. I meant pride in the players wearing the jersey but your point is totally valid.
  23. That's true, but really maybe the core problem is a team that has had too many "why give it" moments that should be unacceptable in a better hockey culture. There's no pride in wearing this jersey.
  24. Well if they have decided to rebuild, like many of us are advocating, then they have to trade Eichel as it's clear he does not want to lead a rebuild so the equivalent of 4 firsts is like the old offer sheet value so why not? It's either that or keep tweaking round the same core and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results right? Remember if you remove his salary you have a lot of money for a couple solid free agents to add to that pile of picks. Potentially 6 starting players in total. Maybe a Nick Foligno as an example.
