  1. So you believe in unicorns? 🙂
  2. I hate the word "toxic" as it's the most overused word around today and gets way over used in all the woke political nonsense but yes, maybe it is the right word for the Sabres now. There's a fair bit of environmental discussion that says frakking leaves a lot of "toxic" land and water behind it so maybe it's just something Terry has to do 😉 There's a solution that won't happen. Terry sells the team and/or moves it to another city. Buffalo gets an expansion team with a new owner. Complete toxic free start over. It will of course never happen but probably should. The only other solution I see is Terry sells it and it stays with a new owner who hires respected hockey people to run it and they tear it down and rebuild it into a "destination city". Destination city stuff should be *****. Sure there's taxes, but that holds for every Canadian team and most of the league to some degree. Buffalo used to be a great destination and as a border town if you can't get Canadian players interested in being there you are doing something incredibly wrong.
  3. I think when push comes to shove in the stretch drive the veteran teams will separate themselves from the young up and comers. In general young upstart teams have to leap ahead early and then hang on later in the year. Depth and experience come into bigger focus second half of the year. Trade deadline also separates teams and you can be pretty sure that we won't be picking up any palm tree haters for stretch drive help either.
  4. They would have, until he showed he had what it takes on the ice and then they'd have embraced him just like we do with Benson. I wanted Dylan Holloway in that draft. In hindsight I guess the best pick for the Sabres would probably have been Seth Jarvis.
  5. It was all empty below it. So I guess nobody's paying for premium seating. Understandable.
  6. That's probably articulated better. I do find it funny though that we are arguing about what the boos mean. That's the state of the franchise now, dissecting the full intent and meaning of the boos. Oh man, this is so sad.
  7. The snark on the "I could have signed Craig Anderson" on the youngest team question is the one that really got to me as well. As soon as I heard that I just thought total F U. How stupid do you think Buffalo fans are? The Adams plan, build the youngest team in the league and then use youngest team as an excuse for your failure. Foolproof. I did love the question about the cap though. I think it was Lance sticking it to his answer saying the whole world knows you don't need the money to pay Quinn and Levi. That was good to see him squirm on that one, especially after his lame defense of Power and his contract. Same old bs. Sure there's destination issues, so think outside the box. Do your job. You can grow palm trees indoors you know.
  8. say what now? I think you've forgotten a few teams ahead of both.
  9. I think maybe it's all of these things.
  10. The parents were, but weren't the others in the empty section below it? I might have it wrong it was the TSN broadcast and they don't know much about Buffalo.
  11. It was weird to see Kozak's family had a whole empty section to themselves.
  12. I think they are booing the effort on the ice.
  13. Keep in mind Benson goes to the net and makes things happen whether he gets on the scoreboard or not. If they all played like that we'd be in first place.
  14. Byram with the patented end of game stick smash. He's officially a Buffalo Sabre now. It was a better effort and they did a lot of things better but not good enough. Kozak was adequate in his role. I'd keep him in the line up over Quinn. Good on Gilbert for standing up to Stanley. I don't know why he is below Bryson or Jokiharju on the depth chart. Shouldn't be. We need more players like that. I can see why Winnipeg is slumping. They are sloppy and disorganized. We should have pressed them harder. So another loser point and the winless streak continues.
  15. I suspect the group dynamic is more like the mob. TP is the godfather sitting there eating his prosciutto, Adams is the underboss handling the day to day affairs, Forton is head capo and Karmanos is consigliere.
  16. Saw them play the Bruins last night and they looked really flat. All they do is dump and chase and they don't chase for it very quickly. So not a huge surprise. I suspect Chicago will pack in the season and dump a lot of the vets they added at the deadline like Hall and Maroon etc.
  17. So you're saying he's going to want a disc surgery that the Sabres won't sign off on then right?
  18. This is a nice dream but do you really think Terry would give him a farewell presser? I don't see that happening, even for a loyalist.
  19. Stats are stats and they all provide information and they all have flaws in terms of providing a complete picture. When it comes to Quinn anyone can see he is performing poorly and has an overall negative impact on the team. If you can't see that you don't get hockey at all. Now you can argue whether Cozens makes Quinn worse or Quinn makes Cozens worse and so forth but those are nuances. Neither one of them is playing well and Cozens is most definitely not playing up to his contract which is perhaps the most significant statistic. The expected standard has to be measured against their cost in order to have a successful team. Benson, on the other hand, is obviously playing exceptionally well for his age and time here. You don't need any stats to see that either. In terms of economic value, Sabres worst performers are Cozens and Power. Best value is Benson.
  20. I don't think Karmanos will ever be named GM here. I know a lot of people here want that and he is held in high esteem, and he might be a smart guy, but I don't think he's a TP yes man and so I do not think he ever gets that role. If Adams is fired Forton will get it. Perhaps as an interim initially.
  21. I have no idea how this one goes. We either get a slumping Jets team that thinks it's an easy game and continues their slump or we get a Jets team that decided this is the moment to end the slide and they hit us literally and figuratively full force. Could be either one. History would suggest we often end team's losing streaks.
  22. 10-1 this is a nothing burger and he will use the word "patience" more than once.
  23. and he was a local boy with team history. Not only would I have kept Marcus, I'd have signed his brother as a free agent to play with him and lead this locker room. (and no, he wouldn't put up big scoring numbers and he'd probably be over paid in terms of production, but it wouldn't matter, it would be worth it). Heck, put their dad back on the payroll as well as a scout or some type of advisor. They all have and know what it takes. It was a big mistake and I hated it when it happened. Scandella wasn't a good enough player to justify it in any way shape or form. If Marcus was still here I'd have named him captain without question.
  24. I'm not exactly sure of what you're trying to say here or if you are being sarcastic or what, but the fans here absolutely have every right to boo and I do not know why anybody would buy a ticket right now. Even on tv this is the time of year I usually start watching all the games on replay because they are generally not worth sitting through in real time.
  25. All kidding aside Risto's playing really well for Philly this year. idk the whole story but it would appear Torts might have fixed him and he's not just "big guy who hits things" as @LGR4GM liked to say all the time. The games I've seen he doesn't run around like he used to and he picks his rush moments better (and he still hits things :)) He's much better than Jokiharju.
