  1. Send Johnson down. He was garbage. Gilbert gave us more (despite his limitations).
  2. Well we're not going to agree but you can't just let it go. You have to do something. I don't have an answer to fixing this. I'm not sure it's fixable. I could fix it all if I was GM and had carte blanche and a full cap limit but I think many people here feel they could do that too. We might be right, we might be wrong. Adams certainly hasn't done it right.
  3. Rangers are horrible lately so this is just like the Detroit game. Two teams on loser skids and one will think they've broken the skid after the game. We have to win one eventually don't we?
  4. Bedard will be good but I think Michkov is special. He's elevating the talent around him more than the Philly "talent" is supporting him. He's coming off of an injury and isn't all that good. Doubt he'd upgrade anything.
  5. So no matter how bad he plays, Cozens always gets to play. Is that a good plan?
  6. This is good to hear, but it would leave the question as to who plays center? We're left with McLeod who is really a 3C as top center. That's not going to work either. (which also takes us back to Adams trading away Mitts)
  7. Yup, teams were afraid he wasn't going to come over. I do remember there was draft talk earlier about who was better Michkov or Bedard, but then the Russia thing had his stock drop and Philly took the chance or had inside info. Who knows, Bobby Clarke has a relationship with some of those old Russian icons so maybe he got inside info. Right now, Michkov is definitely better than Bedard. He passes like Gretzky. Seems to have incredible vision and puts impossible passes right on tape. Fiesty like Benson too. Maybe even more so. Flyers protect him though so he's maybe more fearless.
  8. Yes, but that doesn't relate to Lindy. imo ALL of the assistants should have been fired at season's end with Granato and Lindy should have been given the power to hire his own staff AND have a say in who coached Rochester to create continuity there as well. After that no more input on coaching from Adams (or Pegula). Lindy only talks to Adams if he needs a player to be gone or desperately needs a hole filled. He is then also measured solely by his win loss record as coach.
  9. Just curious, but who you replacing him with? Appert? You are joking right?
  10. Well you can blame Kreuger but I would suggest what you needed was pairing them with defensive guys. You don't need 2 puck moving D men on at once, just one, and another guy to protect the net area and support that puck mover when he f's up. Montour didn't have that in Anaheim either. When he got to Florida he did.
  11. Short term pain for long term gain? How would you change things and create a work ethic culture? Yes that did finally happen. It took longer than it should have but did eventually happen. Cozens and Power have to join him.
  12. Well aside from the fights Bruins got the crap kicked out of them tonight. They could still fall to the bottom after all. Philly looks WAY BETTER than Columbus. Michkov is a wizard.
  13. temporary measure. Statement. If we want to be serious about accountability we have to get serious about it.
  14. I'm going to watch Columbus Philly today. See if either team looks like it's on a better rebuild path or not.
  15. I believe TNT is planning to do an in depth look at the Sabres and Rangers problems either pregame or intermission. They might be diplomatic but it could be interesting.
  16. Well he went to better teams and so he went down the depth chart on them. Our D was pretty thin so he was higher until things went south. There was a stretch where Dahlin was struggling and then had much better moments paired with Bogo. That lasted a short while and should have told them right there that Dahlin would be best served with a big tough D partner but they wanted puck movers instead. The better question might be why did Montour suck so bad here (close to his home town) and then get good when he left? One thing for certain is that JBot still really loves that guy as Seattle opened the vault for him.
  17. But what I would suggest is that Greenway shouldn't take his spot, the "spot" should be created with someone like Cozens to send a serious message and not allow a 2 tier system where some players get to play no matter what.
  18. It's not. I'm just saying he wasn't the problem here. He's a serviceable tough depth guy much like Gilbert, but you could also make an argument that he's still better than Jokiharju, Bryson or Johnson.
  19. Not sure how this speaks to accountability when he actually out performed some of the other players on this roster but whatever.
  20. Bogo's still playing on Minnesota and they don't seem to be doing too badly are they? The list of ex Sabres succeeding around the league is much much longer than the list of failures we were fortunate to dump.
  21. Philly badly wants a center to play with Michkov. I'm already picturing Cozens having an all star season being set up by that young magician. If we trade Cozens for Zegras I am probably done.
  22. I was saying this in another thread but it's worth repeating here. My biggest disappointment with Lindy this year is he isn't being honest enough. I listen to some of the pressers and he's saying the right things about what the team did or didn't do on the ice but it's always vague and subdued and fairly soft pedaled. I want him to say enough is enough, call this crap out for what it is and go full Torts on this bunch of slackers and quitters. You can see he knows, but he's being meek about it and often looks quite defeated himself. Like he has to play along to keep the job. I wanted a Lindy who would not give a F and would tell it like it is. Without that, this will never end. I don't believe any coach can fix this team, but I do believe a good and honest coach can make it clear who should stay and who needs to go and who we need to come in to fix it.
  23. I think they already know this and it's way too late to beat that message unless there's an ownership change (which signals a new era as well). I mean maybe when ROR departed you could say well he lost his love and okay he won a cup but it was a bad fit in Buffalo (or some other nonsense rationale) and then with Eichel you could argue there was a medical issue and some bad blood and these things happen but then he won a cup and then Reinhart (and Kyle and ERod and Montour) won a cup and that's pretty much all she wrote. The players all talk. So each and every one of them knows there is greener pasture and they just have to wait it out while they cash their cheques.
  24. He has increased the sales of inflatable palm trees 100 fold.
  25. At least the Rangers seem to be a trainwreck. That is making me a little happy.
