Okposo is such a possession anchor to put on any line other than Girgensons+Larsson
-
Chinese knockoffs have been better quality than whatever fanatics crap you buy at the team store. Can’t imagine why this would be different

so pretty. I love white gloves. Sad they're only for a year. I hope when they move to royal blue, the white jersey looks exactly like this except with the lighter blue and a switch from gold to yellow (that is, no shoulder-pads like the originals)

He forms bad habits slinging pucks up the boards playing with idiot wingers who can’t get open and d partners who can’t catch a pass while playing too many minutes per night. His only chance at getting rest is from nearly icing it. Hard habit to break but a new coach can do it. I bet he excels elsewhere. It’s on him if he gives Krueger a chance or not.

Risto was open about complaining being paired with guys like Scandella who he couldn’t trust to pass it to because they’d fumble it. He’s stated as much. He is a good player, he just needs a change of scenery.

I think we already had a decent team, barring the abysmal defensive depth, and they only got better and completely reworked that depth. I think coaching will be all the difference.
-
Welp, there goes his trade value if he had any

Who cares how much it’s only for this season. If you have to retain you do it.
-
I saw absolutely nobody for him to pass to so he’d get in trouble. But to each his own viewpoint.
-
If Botterill wants four scoring lines, Ruostalainen is making the team as a center and Okposo will be in the press box.
-
Mittelstadts only problem was conditioning and he’s had a full off season. Y’all are way too hard on the kid who played with trash all year and was obviously sucking wind. Hope he finds a Risto trade. Glad to hear hes putting vets in the hot seat.
-
I think you're attributing coaching effects with GM effects. Also, NJD had a great cap situation like when Murray started the job. Botterill needed time to get over the mess that was Murray's choices.

My way of interpreting a 'Top 10' is by asking the question, which 10 players in the league do teams focus their strategy around neutralizing? There are players who meet this metric who are just on trash teams (like Eichel), but that doesn't mean they are any less dangerous in a vacuum. 1.) Connor McDavid2.) Sidney Crosby3.) Alex Ovechkin4.) Jack Eichel5.) Aleksander Barkov6.) Nikita Kucherov7.) Artemi Panarin8.) Nathan MacKinnon9.) Mathew Barzal10.) John Tavares Yes, all centers and wingers. Karlson has fallen off a cliff.

Interesting take, since all his draft targets turned into duds and he left us in cap hell that's taken Botterill three season for us the climb out of that's not ready until 2020-2021. Looks like we will have some cap space to make some UFA splashes by this season. Won't know really what's needed until this season plays out though. I'm hoping we just bank up some space and go after some nice rentals to push a cup run ?

You do McCabe to shed cap Rakell doesn’t have the term that’s ideal, but neither do Risto or McCabe. That’s what makes it a fair trade. Got to overpay a little to get them to move Rakell, but I don’t see any other teams in the league taking on all the cap this trade sheds for anything we’d actually want or they’d actually part with. Tampa was held back by NTC. Cap holds back most other teams.

Risto+McCabe+Smith to ANA for Rakell Sign Gardiner 3x6$ Just keep ELC players down on paper for opening roster then LTIR Bogosian on day 1 of season. Over 4 mil in LTIR to cover bonuses worst case, trade Scandella mid season opens up any cap needed when Bogo and Pilut returns. Skinner-Eichel-Rakell Sheary-Johansson-Reinhart Vesey-Mittelstadt-Oloffson Girgensons-Larsson-Rodrigues Okposo Bury: Sobotka, Wilson Dahlin-Montour Gardiner-Joki Scandella-Miller Nelson Bury: Hunwick IR: Bogosian, Pilut. When Pilut returns, trade or 7D Scandella. When Bogosian returns, same. Nelson is expendable here

The only trades that made any sense to me were the package McCabe+Risto for a prospect deal. And I’m totally for it
-
Y’all are putting way too much emphasis on the GMs in these negotiations. Skilled RFAs have all of the bargaining power and if they want to only sign short deals, then that’s what they get. It’s really not up to the GM if Dahlin or Reinhart want to go one route or another
-
So you’ve played college or major junior?
-
Trade Risto+McCabe+Smith with DET for Mantha?
-
Trade Risto+McCabe+Smith with CLB for Dubois?
-
They want his hitting. But he has an IQ wall that he could never get beyond. Plus he’s been soured by all our losing over the years. Good change of scenery target.
-
Trading Risto+McCabe+Smith for a top-6 forward under long term control is an easy win. We have too many defenders and 3rd line forwards. We need top 6. It’s a perfect move.

I’m thinking a couple buyouts to maximize the cap space available this year is what will help us in a Risto trade acquire the best return, considering all the teams he’s rumored to have cap problems they have no easy ways to fix. But Im a little confused because Tampa has NTC on anyone they would trade that costs cap other than Point. And he’s hard to believe they’d part with. Winnipeg at least has a few options to shed cap to make space for their youth. A few 3C options at least there.

If we're buying out Sobotka, don't we only have a couple weeks to do so? If we are taking on cap and buying one or a couple of these one-year contracts just to make this season work, then that'd necessitate the 'big Risto' trade occurring in that timeframe?
