  1. I can see why the coaching staff was so excited about him. To have someone with that kind of talent who's humble and actually willing to listen- it's a rare thing. It was cause for some hope. Re:Allen- I thought his accuracy was good- several incompletions due to incompetent receivers
  2. Josh Allen has an unreal arm, made some incredible plays... and you guys are still going on about gif vs jif...
  3. We used to live in the Bronx. We're in upper Manhattan now, but wife still works in the Bronx. I'm on the cross-bronx much less often than before- but even a little bit is too much... ?
  4. My wife and I were driving on the cross-bronx expressway the other day (something I'd highly advise anyone against, if you can avoid it...), with the windows open. traffic was stop-and-go. A smell came in the window that took me back more than 20 years. I told my wife, "I recognize this smell." I immediately had visions of downtown Buffalo c. 1995. Whatever we were passing by- at that instant, it all came together to transport me back to the Aud. The nostalgia almost made me tear up...
  5. absolutely. Kane is a real power-forward who can produce, which is an oft-sought rarity in the NHL. However, he needs the right system/line-mates to succeed. I don't think he had that here in Buffalo, and I think he has that now in SJ
  6. If memory serves me correctly, I can think of several times where Eichel puts the puck right on the tape of a line-mate in a dangerous scoring area, only to have the recipient totally unprepared for it and/or unable to finish. They were brilliant passes that few players could make. If I were Eichel in that situation, I'd start shying away from passing, as well. With his talent, maybe he felt his best option was to just do it himself.
  7. And we have the defenseman whisperer! ?
  8. absolutely. I feel we've had a tendency in Buffalo to be overly-critical and harsh on high-skill guys- the ones we've had in the past. Now we realize- it's pretty sad when we don't have much of that.
  9. I'd probably be more worried if he says he is interested in an extension right now, without even getting to know anyone on the team and not even having had a practice with any of them. Furthermore, it's just prudent, business-wise, to not show your cards. If he's getting great vibes so far and has a feeling it could work out long-term, no need to say it out loud- gives him more leverage come contract negotiation time.
  10. We should use one of our 1st rd picks to get Lehner back ?
  11. VGK is going to score 4 goals in overtime?
  12. And we have never seen 2018 Samson playing center, correct?
  13. I know this type of optimism is borderline delusional, but- Any chance JBot/Wowie are privy to some medical/physio information that makes them confident Bogo is good to go for a full season? I suggest this because I'm not totally convinced people on this board are smarter than JBot/Wowie
  14. And the twitter guy was complaining about him posting pictures fishing, if I understand correctly. That's a cheap shot, IMO.
  15. Why? To co-anchor a line with Okposo? Or to make up for the lack-of-speed we lost with O'Reilly? Foligno has no place on this team. I shudder just thinking about him on Eichel's wing again.
  16. Yeah, it was kind of a rhetorical question. Although it seems some here are unwittingly hoping for it
  17. I'm guessing he's "trying" every day. Probably more than most realize. The issue is whether or not there is an available move that is actually worthwhile. Here's another question: should he make a move that may not benefit us, just to appear like he's trying to do something?
  18. I expect our PP to be firing right off the bat. And no Beaulieu/Lehner tandem to combine forces for SH GA's
  19. And if those season aren't taken advantage of, look at the bright side- imagine how many 1st rounders we could get dealing Eichel ?
  20. I also remember a times last year when Gorges was our only d-man who would step up at the blue line to prevent a zone entry
  21. Any speculation on Samson's perspective? Is he gonna hold out for max term, or is he content to sign a bridge?
  22. So are some of the best scouts in the league ? ...so no shame in that!
  23. Another thought- Vegas did so well because they had the right mix of both talent, and an attitude of "I'll show you that you should have protected me." JBot is doing well to fill the pipeline with players who have that attitude- players who want to prove what they've got. Ruff and 90s Nolan new how to get that out of players. I think JBot is trying to recreate that same spirit, from the GM side of things. We also have elite talent on the team. It's going to click soon.
