  1. Pilut stepped up and broke up a zone entrance, when even Sabres forwards were already backtracking behind him in the d-zone. Really like his game.
  2. I've crossed the border many times by car, greyhound/megabus, and amtrak (long-distance relationship while living in NYC) If border agents think you are a non-risk, they are the friendliest people. If otherwise- trust me- they are nothing to mess with, and they become all business. They are highly trained and take what they do very seriously.
  3. I actually feel bad for the guy. Who knows what's really going on with him, physically. All I know is that he looked so rusty in the few minutes I saw him on the ice, I can't see him being a positive contributor unless he has 15 games or so to get his act back together. Can he even string that many together? Is there a contract penalty if he retires? Sorry if this has been discussed before, but could it be that he has an ailment and intends on retiring, and this is all just some ploy to avoid incurring that penalty?
  4. I think we need to remember the implications of preseason games. We don't know what the coach's game plan is. And believe it or not, it's perfectly acceptable for a preseason game plan to NOT be "go out and win." It could be "go out and make some mistakes, and learn." It could also be coaches trying players in different situations to find their breaking point. They could still be NHL players, but just being used in roles they're not meant for, to test the waters. Or it could be that we have some serious issues. We have no way of knowing until October.
  5. IMHO Casey has the level of talent and compete that any necessary growth/development can happen best while playing at the NHL level. At worst, he will be significantly better than our worst roster player last year, and I believe he'll improve very rapidly no matter what his level is at the beginning.
  6. No. Cup this year or sell the team. ?
  7. And consider, he hasn't even been participating in camp. He just laced them up and was ready to go. He'll be even better Oct 6
  8. He can try all his tricks during the preseason, see what works, and adjust. AFAIC, let him try that every time he touches the puck in the preseason. Soon enough he'll figure out how to pull that on NHL players
  9. And I don't think he's going to be matched up against the likes of Tavares
  10. I don't think Casey is starting in Roch
  11. His contract is with us, not the Kings. We just loaned him to their AHL affiliate (yes, we are paying Matt Moulson millions of dollars to play with LA's farm team)
  12. I think you can succinctly sum it up like this: Jack is not replaceable.
  13. Having the RJ call is like watching the game with grampa, in the most endearing sense of the word. I want him there until he decides he's done. If we can win a cup in 3-4 years, I'm sure he'll retire. Let's all plan on that! In the meantime, don't take grampa away from me!
  14. Maybe he should see if animal protein helps with that... ...sorry, any chance to take a shot at vegans ?
  15. I didn't think this was the right move, but I trust JBots, for this reason alone: Look at our farm system. Look how many in Rochester are applying upward pressure on the Sabres roster. I'm confident this scenario's intensity will only increase over the next two years. I'm sure there will be no bottom-6 forwards making Pominville money at that time, and if we can't afford a certain player, there will be a rookie ready to jump in and fill the role on a cheap contract. I'm confident in our core. Could this be described as the "Pittsburgh model" ?
  16. Just curious- is it odd that he's not participating in camp/preseason? Did many of those players not participate until contract signing?
  17. JBot will blink, not Samson (and/or his agent) Samson has more reason to be bitter - drafted 2nd overall to a tanking team, not given the opportunity to produce at the level he feels capable of... he's not going to budge, and he has ground to stand on in that regard.
  18. I think Phil quickly realized that we do not have someone in net to compensate for an offensively aggressive D (and quite frankly, no D-men capable of safely executing his ideas after one training camp/preseason of trying to teach it), and he just decided to change plans and focus on supporting Lehner
  19. I would cries tears of joy if we acquired Bobrovsky For any others on here who are goaltenders and/or connoisseurs the art of goaltending, he is such a joy to behold
  20. Would that be a JBot call or a Phil call? IMO, JBot has given Wowie plenty of options with which to put ahead of the two of them. Call me crazy, but I actually have some hope that Girgensons can become a steady 4th liner on a winning team. Not conviction, but hope.
  21. the away one looks like a demon from DOOM
  22. This makes me happy. Are bad things going to happen to me now?
  23. Sorry for the cliche, but re:Baiey/Baptiste & waivers- it's a good problem to have
  24. That's what I thought. Which prompts this question to GASabresIUFAN: Do you think Bailey/Baptiste won't be picked up by any other teams?
