Staal loses a battle where he had better positioning/leverage on the puck. Staal then tries to pass to Cozens and just gives it away. I'm sorry, he's painful to watch.

Dunleavy is so bad. He raises his voice but doesn't describe what actually happens. So if you're listening to the radio, you know something exciting happened, but he could be talking about random stats/factoids and just shouts them.

Before Reinhart's post, Staal had the puck behind/beside the net, and just couldn't handle it. I honestly think I could have controlled the puck better than he did there. I don't know what wrong with him.

They have people in Toronto (I believe) looking at it during play, and they'll blow the end-of-period horn during play if they conclude it was a goal. Usually 30 seconds to 1min after it happens. If it takes that long, usually means it wasn't a goal. I looked back at it myself, and it wasn't a goal EDIT: if that's indeed what you were asking

Did not get the sense they were lazy. I got the sense their game plan just wasn't working, they were getting frustrated, and they made some bad decisions (perhaps as a consequence of the aforementioned). Is the "game plan not working" fixable? Was it a match-up thing? Or is it systemic/are they just susceptible to being consistently out-coached? These are the big q's in my mind; Hall/Eichel/Skinner "getting going again" could hinge on these things.

I actually agree with quite a bit of RK's postgame assessments. I think he is clearly identifying the major problems. The question is: can he fix them? I don't think it's about "work ethic," as some here say. I think they are working their a#@'s off, but not always in the smartest, most efficient ways, and they are not connecting.

I think RK should forget whatever "system" in the next practice, and just focus on basics. Handling a pass. Making a pass. Shooting accuracy. Handling the puck with speed.

Devils have had several chances where they didn't connect on the pass w/ Hutton down & out, or missed the net. It could easily be 5-0 right now. sigh

I stopped drinking beer for a while (diet-related). I think this game is going to cause me to start again.
