None of KO, Vinnie or Middlestadt will start the season for the Sabres. This is bold and I'm sure not popular, but VO starts the season. I don't think he gets moved until JJP or one of the prospects moves him during the season. I have no idea what the goaltenders will look like. 1 middle D will get added in FA.

For a vet leadership replacement, it needs to be Skinner and Girgs (another reason to keep him). These guys are 30 and never played a playoff game. That has to be the entire goal next season right from the start. They can warn the young guys about the importance of the locker room as they have both seen what a bad situation it can be and how to avoid it. I think Tuch will step up as a leader of the next wave of players age wise.

I see your logic here. It's something to be considered.

Bruins are a "machine of destruction" this year. 101 points already with a +103 point differential. See you guys next time. -

Bruins and Sabres cannot be compared in my book. Bergeron, Krejci and Marchand have more years in the league than over half the Sabres team. -

Sport fans from Boston wonder why the rest of the country hates them. -

Need a strong 2nd. Scoreboard looks good so far. PIT, FLA, OTT and DET all behind. -

I gave you my opinion. You don't have to agree. -

All true, but the guys in Junior want to play hockey in the NHL and not go to school. -
Take a breath cowboy. KO has done a lot for this team as Captain this year.

There should be a compromise on this. It should at least give the drafting team a guaranteed 1-year exclusive rights deal. It gives more control over trades and gives a year to convince the kid to stay with the team that brought him up through the draft. -
Logically you make some good points but the "locker room cohesion aside" is the real question. I really think that a lot of us don't realize how young this team really is. You add in another group of young players on the horizon, and I think keeping both older guys is needed for the rest of the season. Looking at some of mid-aged guys like Vinnie, they may not be around next season. It's crazy to think that Bryson, Asplund and Comrie are all above the mid-point in age. What seems a priority (at least for me) is bringing in an UFA or 2 who are older and have a good amount of playoff experience next season. I think the type of player(s) these guys will be more important than just their skill level.

FWIW, I was at the Colorado College / North Dakota game Saturday and was interested in watching Matteo Costantini (5th round 2020). He was on the NCHC All-Rookie Team last year and as you guys know a former Jr. Sabre. Was disappointed to see he was playing bottom 6 Winger with no special teams. Especially when he had 1st line minutes last year. Only 3 points all year. Only good thing to say was he was hitting a lot and skates OK. Not sure what next year as a Junior will bring.
